Kappa Alpha Theta at Florida State works year round to raise awareness, donations, and funds for Court Appointed Special Advocates, better known as CASA. Perhaps it’s touched you or perhaps this is the first

time you’re hearing of this charity. Either way, we couldn’t be more thrilled to have your support.

WHO IS CASAThe National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its

state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed

volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can

be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive. CASA/GAL

volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and

neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal

and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes.

Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe,

permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA/GAL volunteer will be

the one constant adult presence in their lives.

WHAT IS KAPPA ALPHA THETA DOING?

October of 2016, we will be hosting A CHICKEN wing contest & cake tasting competition at the Kappa Alpha

Theta House.Members of Kappa Alpha Theta will have prepared a sweet treat in teams for

their guests. The public can buy a ticket, taste the treats, and vote for their f

avorites. Of course, outsiders can enter the competition as well to put either

their baked goods to the test. During the cake tasting, a wing eating competition

will kick off. Males from different fraternities and organizations will compete for the title of Theta Man (and wing eating champ). Every dollar raised for this event

will benefit our local CASA and directly impact the children of Tallahassee.

attendees to see
