The balance still due on the Furnace replacement and repair is approximately $1059. We have about $1424.00 in the fund for the new pastor expenses and I understand it may be a bit more than that. Your generous support of the church and the church missions is greatly appreciated.

Almost Final Report from the Search Committee

Since I last wrote we have had our candidating weekend with Drew Terry. Following Sunday worship at the congregational meeting we voted to extend a call to Drew Terry to be our Settled Pastor. The following weekend Drew was ordained at this home church in Atlanta, Georgia.

The following weekend Drew began his extended trip across the country with a college friend. They are traveling some of the Lewis and Clark route.

Drew is scheduled to arrive in Idaho the first few days of June and plans to be in the office on June 5. The Rev. George Andrew (Drew) Terry will be preaching on Pentecost Sunday, June 8. Plan to be in church that Sunday to welcome him to Wright.

Drew is scheduled to meet with the Covenants Ministry Team of the Central Pacific Conference on June 20 to begin the process of transferring his standing to the Central Pacific Conference.

A progress report on the “Move Drew” Fund to help cover the costs of interviewing, candidating, and moving costs for Drew is as follows:

Estimated costs $4,630

Donations through May 25 $3,435

Still needed $1,195

As you are able please make your donation and place it in the morning offering and designate “Move Drew” Fund. Thank you for your generosity. It is greatly appreciated.

Carl Van Slyke

P.S. Do you have an extra fridge? Jim Morrow would like to borrow it! Rev. Drew is staying in Jim's house until he locates an apartment and Jim's house needs a temporary fridge. Large or small does not matter. Please contact Jim Morrow if you can help out.

Church Missions

June Bench Supper All hands are needed as Wright Church continues to serve our free monthly meal to the Bench community.

Our next supper is Thursday, June 26. Please contact Julie Patterson if you are interested in helping with suppers.

Help Restock the Pantry Our pantry continues to be used by the community and we are running low on basics like canned meat and spaghetti fixings.

Our own Susan Busche is volunteering her time and talents as the interim camp manager for Pilgrim Cove. If you see her coming, prepare yourself to say 'yes' to all her requests!

Simple Giving Ideas for Pilgrim Cove Please remember that you can easily give a little bit more to Pilgrim Cove without even knowing it! Take advantage of the rewards programs offered by such retailers as Fred Meyers, Albertsons, Amazon. You can designate Pilgrim cove to receive a percentage of every purchase you make. It costs you nothing and if we can get all our church members and friends of Pilgrim Cove to sign up it will be a financial help to the camp.

Boise Urban Garden School

BUGS summer season of classes and gardening begins this month. Watch for dates and times when the farm stand will be open.

Plant and Craft Sale update: Thank you to all who came out, either as venders or buyers. The weather was crappy and Franklin was a mess of construction. It was fun, however, we made a bit of money, and maybe next year will be better all the way around.

Bon Voyage!

Back in September 2012 I wrote,

Frankly, I haven’t a clue where we are headed and I don’t know how long it will take to get there. I do have the absolute conviction that God will guide us if we will just keep our eyes open for the signs on the road ahead. In the meantime, I will do all that I can to maintain our metaphorical bus and be sure that we don’t run out of gas, burn up the engine, or drive off a cliff. I will be preaching and teaching, administering and mentoring, visiting and meeting, and attending to all the usual stuff of pastoral ministry. In addition, I will be asking some impertinent questions, provoking some outlandish ideas, stepping unintentionally on some toes, and prodding some folk to engage in fresh explorations of faithfulness. At some point down the road, I will happily step out of the bus and hand the keys over to someone else of yours and God’s choosing. Until then, I will strive to live up to my own personal maxim for the interim pastorate, ‘Prepare ye the way of the Lord (and then get out of the way)!’

I hope that I have succeeded. Time will tell. In the meantime, thank you for all your kind gifts and your patience. Please take care of each other and be kind to Drew. God bless.

Cynthia

Need a Tag? Wear a Tag!

Do you know who you are? More importantly, do you want Drew Terry to know who you are? Join the "Be Nice to Drew" Fan Club and wear your official Wright Church name tag. If you need a new one, just fill out a pew card and put it in the offering plate on any Sunday or leave a note on Robin's desk.

The book club meets on the first Thursday each month at 1:00 pm in the library. All are welcome to come and enjoy a cup of tea and an interesting discussion.

June 5 The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean A modern classic of personal journalism is a wickedly funny, elegant, and captivating tale of an amazing obsession. Determined to clone an endangered flower, a deeply eccentric and oddly attractive man named John Laroche leads Orlean on an unforgettable tour of America’s strange flower-selling subculture, through Florida’s swamps and beyond, along with the Seminoles who help him and the forces of justice who fight him.

July 10 Bring one or two favorite poems to share.

August 7 Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver

September 4 The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

October 2 Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford

Arts, Crafts, and Potluck The arts and crafts group will not meet in June. Stay tuned for more information on our next meeting which will be in September. This group just gets together for fun, friendship and, of course, food. So, take the summer to create some new items to share and bring the craft you are working on and enjoy the company in September.

The deadline for the July Wright Ups is June 25.

A Note from the Pastor! Dear Wright,

Greetings! I am beaming with excitement and anticipation as I write this. Only children on Christmas have as much glee as I do about becoming your new pastor. We embark on this new journey together on the day of Pentecost, Sunday June 8. This is reason to celebrate because it’s the birthday of Christianity. So, Happy Birthday! Cheers to Christianity, and cheers to our new life together!

This is an exciting month also because we have our June Fund Raiser coming up. I feel that the best way to celebrate the Holy Spirit is through food, music, and dancing. A little fact about me, I love dancing. Together we shall dance with the Holy Spirit. I know I have not seen the June Fund Raiser in action, but I have had dreams and visions of how much fun it will be. I have already invited many friends and I hope that you will tell everyone you know. The more the merrier.

I will conclude by saying that everyone is in my prayers and I look forward to beginning our new adventure together. May the Holy Spirit guide this first month and all that follow. I know many of you, like me, are traveling during this time. May God’s light protect and keep you. Always remember, wherever you go, whatever you do, God is always present.

Many blessings!

Rev. Drew Terry
