Apelamos a tu infinito amor, a tu bondad y

CLUSTER NEWS

CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH

M.O. (age 53) says “I would like to tell you I am glad I

decided to go to the Cluster men’s retreat. It was a

very rewarding weekend. The retreat helped me

strengthen my relationships with some of the men in

our Cluster and it was a time for me to reflect on my

relationship with God and how I can become closer to

Him. The retreat encouraged me to take time to use

this weekend to reflect on my faith in God, allowing

me to do it in a way that was right for me. I

recommend you give it a lot of thought, and we hope

you will join us for the next retreat.”

FAITH FORMATION

As a new ministry in the Holy Family Cluster, a Parish

Nurse program is being started. What is a Parish Nurse, and

what do they do?

A parish nurse integrates the practice of nursing with the

practice of faith to encourage physical and spiritual

wholeness. A parish nurse encourages healthy habits that are

combined with faith practices. A parish nurse also acts as a

resource for parishioners to connect them with resources in

the community when there is a need. A parish nurse also visits the sick, (in addition to what Father Blake and Nancy Strub

are already doing), offers screening services such as blood

pressure clinics, and provides educational opportunities to

learn about health in the context of faith.

A parish nurse can also make home visits in addition to

Public Health nursing services to provide another layer of

support for loved ones. Supportive visits for parents of small

children is also a service that a parish nurse can provide.

A parish nurse program is not designed to replace Public

Health services, physician services or in- patient care, but is

designed to be an additional layer of faith-based support

provided by the Holy Family Cluster. It is also designed for

parishioners to remain connected to their faith community.

Parish nurses are not capable of healing in the same

manner that Jesus did. They are not capable to say to the

lame, “pick up your mat and walk,” but they are able to

support and encourage you along your own health and

faith journey.

Many thanks to Father Blake and the Pastoral Council

who approved this volunteer Parish Nurse program for the

Cluster. Watch for further information in the bulletin about it.

Our first blood pressure screening clinic will be held the weekend of July 21st and 22nd after each Mass. The

screening clinics will be held in each Parish Center.

Blessings,

Cindy Christensen RN
