It is open to the public based on the autumn leaves season from late October to early December. “Odoi” is earthwork fortification built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the surroundings of Kyoto in 1591. The Odoi produces an elegant space when the autumn leaves look their best on the surface of the Kamiya River running alongside of Odoi. Sugawara no Michizane was enshrined from 923 to 931, and the shrine has been worshiped as a local deity of the Okuyamada village since ancient times. “Kyoto by the Sea” is the area located in the north of Kyoto Prefecture, and which carries a variety of landscapes, such as the Tango Peninsula facing the Japan Sea, Amanohashidate, considered one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, Maizuru with its retro flavor and quaint Ine no Funaya Houses.

15 Ten ShrineMid-Nov. - Early Dec.The shrine is believed to have been established by Fujiwara no Kanehide, a patriarch of opening the Okuyamada district, according to a ceremonial transfer by Dengyo Daishi in 795. Sugawara no Michizane was enshrined from 923 to 931, and the shrine has been worshiped as a local deity of the Okuyamada village since ancient times.
