Dynamic Catholic, Alive! Most Holy Trinity - The Triune God

I have often heard priests tell me that this Solemnity is one of the most difficult days in the liturgical year on which to preach a good homily. It is difficult to preach a homily on such a cen-tral mystery of our faith like the Trinity. What is essential to remember for all Catholics is to simply listen to the readings and each of the prayers today for the Mass. Within these texts we can find spiritual insights about the Trinity. For example, the preface for the Mass today provides a great summary of the Church’s teaching on the mystery of the Trinity: “For what you have revealed to us of your glory we believe equally of your Son and of the Holy Spirit, so that, in the confessing of the true and eternal Godhead, you might be adored in what is proper to each Person, their unity in substance, and their equality in maj-esty.” One God in three Persons is always there for us.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You have already come, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Requirements to attend Mass

• Must not be ill or showing symptoms of illness. • Make reservation by clicking on the link on our parish

website at www.stjojo.net or call the parish office. • Wear a mask. • Use hand sanitizer before entering Church. • Practice social distancing by maintaining 6 ft. distance

from others. • When parking, leave an empty parking space between

cars.

By now you should have received a letter and pledge card for the Archdiocesan Annual

Catholic Appeal. Because of the pandemic, we have gotten a late start on it this year. The problem is that the needs this year are greater than ever. Three parish schools in the Archdiocese have closed already because of lack of funds and no ability to get additional grants through the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). The Archbishop is concerned about the viability of one parish, but it could be more. The ACA is a tremendous support system for parishes and programs in a variety of ways. We at St. Joseph Parish have benefitted financially from the ACA in the past. My hope is that we will again in the future. That is why it is so important that we contribute to the ACA again this year. Please fill out your ACA forms and make your pledges again this year. Do not use the excuse, “we’re living in troubling times,” to cut back on your pledge this year. If you have not given in the past, then this might be the year to start! Join me in getting behind this program this year. Our goal for this year is $36,000. Use the return envelope and sub-mit your pledge today, or go online to aca.archstl.org and make your pledge. Please put “St. Joseph/Josephville” in the memo so that your pledge gets applied to our parish goal. We all benefit from a successful ACA Campaign. Let us pray for each other this week.

Stewardship Awareness “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” John 3:16 Is your love conditional? Is there a price others have to pay to receive your love and forgiveness? Are you generous with your time, skills, money, and possessions? If you give someone something, do you expect something in return? Do you give your time freely or do you “fit it in” when it’s convenient for you? God desires a personal relationship with us so much that He gave us His Son, unconditionally! Pray for a grateful and generous heart.

SCRIP PROGRAM Are you planning a graduation party or a home remodeling pro-ject this summer? Buy scrip cards before you shop! Participat-ing in our scrip program earns money for our parish and school at no extra cost to you. Purchase scrip cards as gifts or to use while you are shopping for supplies, gifts, groceries, or for din-ing out. A scrip order form that lists the scrip cards we have in-stock is located on our website. Popular retailers are Dier-bergs, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, and Home Depot. We now have Amazon scrip cards and scrip cards to The Color Room Hair Salon in Wentzville. Scrip cards may be purchased Mon.-Fri. 9am-1pm at the parish office or call 636-332-6676 to make other arrangements.

Job Opening We are in need of a janitor who is available to work three hours in the afternoon or evening five days a week. (Hours are flexible.) If interested, please contact our school principal, Jill Nance, at [email protected].

REGISTRATION for the 2020-21 school year for PreK-8th grade is open to new families. PreK offers

full and half day programs for 3-year olds and 4-year olds. For more information call the school office at 636-332-5672.

Prevent and Protect STL The Archdiocese of St. Louis has developed a new system for safe environment compliance called Prevent and Protect STL. Everyone ministering to minors and vulnerable adults (clergy, employees and volunteers) in the Archdiocese are re-quired and asked to register in the new system before December 31, 2020. This includes those new to service and those who are currently in service. For those who have already attended a Protecting God’s Children workshop, your previous training date will transfer to this new system. In addition to attending a live Protecting God’s Children workshop, all clergy, volunteers, and employees will register for an updated background screen-ing, view two new online training modules on abuse reporting and the Code of Ethical Conduct, and agree to the updated Code of Ethical Conduct. Instructions are available on our website at www.stjojo.net. Call Trish at the parish office at 636-332-6676 if you have questions or need assistance.

COVID 19 DIRECTIVES Masses Resumed on May 18. Maximum number in attendance at each Mass is 50 people for our Church. (See requirements to attend Mass on opposite page.) The dispensation from the obli-gation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation is still in place at this time. During Mass there is no sign of peace or offertory collection. Please use the new offertory drop box in the center isle of Church for your offertory contributions. Contributions may be made through our online giving portal on our website at www.stjojo.net. The misselettes have been removed for now. Communion is brought to you in your pew and is to be re-ceived in the hand only. There is no distribution of the Pre-cious Blood. Masks should be worn until you receive Com-munion in your hand. At that time you should lift your mask to consume the Blessed Sacrament. After Mass the bulletins are not handed out. Please take one as you leave from the bulletin holder. If you wish to visit with others outside after Mass, please adhere to the 6 feet social dis-tancing guidelines. After each Mass the Church is disinfected. Other Sacraments - Confession is currently by appointment only. For baptisms, weddings or funerals call the parish office.

Congratulations to Arlene Rothermich who won $100 in the monthly Members Club raffle drawing!

21-HOUR PRAYER VIGIL Our nation needs healing! Be pro-active and join our parish as we call upon God, our Divine Physician, to heal our nation. After the 10am Mass this Sunday,

June 7th the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the mon-strance for the rest of the day and through the night until 8am on Monday morning so that all parishioners have an opportu-nity to come before our Lord and pray for an end to COVID-19, violence, racism, and division. Our doctors, nurses, police officers and fire fighters are making sacrifices daily to protect others. Can you sacrifice an hour or half hour of your day or sleep to pray for our nation? Much prayer is needed at this time.
