This prestigious event will be held at the Swim & Racquet Center in Boca Raton, Florida. The date for this year's event is November 14-20, 2011, and the tentative schedule for age divisions is as follows: play will begin for the 55's and 65's on Monday the 14th, for the 75's and 80’s on Tuesday the 15th, and for the 35's and 45's on Thursday the 17th. Sponsors of the event are The United States Tennis Association, The National Senior Women's Tennis Association, USTA Florida Section, City of Boca Raton, and Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District. Play this year will be on soft courts. Remember that play in this Team Championship will count as a tournament played for USTA National ranking purposes. As in recent years, players will receive points for their wins for national ranking purposes as outlined in the point chart for Intersectionals. This chart can be found on the USTA website at www.usta.com. The entry deadline for this Women's Intersectional Team Championship is October 10, 2011. Final rosters are due at the initial Captain's meeting on Sunday, November 13, 2011, for the 55's and 65's, on Monday, November 14, 2011, for the 75's and 80’s, and on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, for the 35's and 45's. Also, the initial Captains’ meeting on Sunday, November 13, is scheduled for 6:00 pm and the other scheduled Captains’ meetings will tentatively be held at 6:00 pm. PROCEDURES FOR Women’s and Men’s INTERSECTIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS All USTA Sections are eligible to field a team in each age division as follows: 35s, 45s, 55s, 65s, 75s, and 80s. These events will count for USTA national ranking purposes. Players shall earn Ranking Points in national ranking tournaments based on a points-per-round ranking system. This information is published on the USTA website.

A player can only accumulate the maximum number of points possible for that position. If a player played in different positions he would receive the corresponding points for that position. E.g., a player who wins two rounds at #1 and two rounds at #2 would receive 166 + 166 + 133 + 35 points. There is an additional limitation—although a player’s results in multiple divisions may provide a total greater than the maximum number of points for the lowest division a player plays, a player’s results in different divisions may not be combined to earn more than the maximum number of points allowed in the highest division the player played.

TEAM SELECTION Each USTA Section shall have the sole responsibility for selecting team members by whatever criteria it deems appropriate. Players must be members of the USTA through the Section for which they play. Sections are strongly encouraged to have written selection procedures. TEAM FORMATS 75s, 80s: 2 singles and 1 doubles – a maximum number of players per age division team – 5

(pilot program for 2010 & 2011) 35s, 45s, 55s, 65s: 3 singles and 2 doubles - a maximum number of players per age division

team - 7 Players may compete in both singles and doubles. A player may play in two different age divisions if eligible, but may play in only one age division in singles and only one age division in doubles on the same day.

Procedures for Women’s And Men’s Intersectional Team Championships (cont.) TEAM CAPTAINS The sections must designate captains before the competition begins. Captain must attend the on-site Captains’ Meetings. The Captain may be a playing captain or a non-playing captain. An individual may captain more than one age group. COMPETITION FORMAT The competition in each age category may be a compass draw, modified compass draw, or round robin. The tournament committee will determine which format to use, so that each team will play a minimum of three team matches. A team member will not be required to play more than the number of matches per day allowed for his/her age division according to the regulations for USTA Adult and Senior National Championships. In general, this means a team will play only one (1) team match per day. The referee can alter this if she/he determines that the event cannot be completed on time because of weather delays or other unforeseen circumstances. Scoring: One point for each court win. The team with the majority of the points shall be the winner of the Team Match. All matches will be played even if a team winner has been established (time, weather, and courts permitting). A winner or “champion” team will be determined in each age category. If an overall sectional winner is to be determined, the captains

ill vote for one of the two following options w

Option one: The section with the greatest number of individual matches won throughout the entire competition will be named the overall sectional winner.

Option two: The section with the greatest number of team matches won throughout the

entire competition will be named the overall sectional winner.

Note: 1) Team(s) receiving a bye will receive the average number of individual points won that they have earned in the entire competition (for the bye round).

2) In the event a team defaults an entire team match, the opposing team will receive 5 individual points (35s, 45s, 55s, and 65s) or 3 points (75s, 80s).

LINE-UP AND DRAW

A roster shall be submitted by the section for each team in each age category represented. Players must be listed in order of strength as singles players. All team members shall be listed on the singles roster even if they plan to play only doubles. (A doubles roster is not required.) Final changes to team rosters and resolution of order of strength questions shall be made at the captains' meeting prior to the making of the draw.

Seeding: A seeding committee will determine preliminary seeding prior to the captains’ meeting. All current player information (significant wins, losses, rankings) must be submitted to the tournament committee with the player information sheets in order to formulate preliminary seeding. Any questions concerning seeding will be resolved prior to the making of the draw. One team in four will be seeded; however, in an age category where there are 12 or more teams, four seeds will be allowed.

Substitutions: A substitution in the daily singles line-up may be made at the discretion of the captain. A substitute must be placed in accordance with the team rosters’ order of strength.

Doubles Teams Doubles teams are formatted at the discretion of the team captain, but must be set up in order of strength. The tournament committee has the right to review questionable doubles ombinations and take appropriate action. c

Daily Line-ups The time frame for turning in the daily singles line-ups shall be determined by the referee and announced at the Captains’ meeting. Doubles line-ups do not have to be turned in until 15

REFEREE'S NOTES

1. FORMAT: USTA Rules and Regulations govern all play. 2. COMPETITION:

Best of 3 tiebreak sets, regular scoring with the Coman Tiebreak System will be the format for competition. Default time will be 15 minutes. It is always the player’s responsibility to find out the time of her match. The referee can switch to alternate scoring systems if necessitated by inclement weather in order to complete the tournament.

3. TEAM CAPTAINS: Meeting daily at 6:00 p.m. (if necessary). 4. HOST CAPTAINS:

The Captain of the team listed on the left side of the line-up sheet will be the Host Captain responsible for administration of the new and used balls and for general court tidiness throughout the daily team competitions.

5. COURT USAGE:

There are several days where court usage is at the maximum. Therefore, the winner(s) of each match is responsible for reporting the score and returning the balls within 10 minutes of the conclusion of the match. The next match scheduled for that court must be ready to play as soon as the court has been swept and lined. If all players concerned do not wish to have the court swept and lined, then the next match may begin immediately. There will be no warm-up allowed while the courts are being swept and lined.

6. RELOCATION OF MATCHES;

In order to facilitate play, any match can be moved at the decision of the referee. It is even possible that matches in progress may have to be moved in order to facilitate the court maintenance schedule. If inclement weather requires it, matches may be moved to courts off site.

7. UNUSUAL CONDITIONS:

The Referee may authorize play utilizing artificial lights or transfer play to other courts should this become necessary, in the Referee's opinion, to complete the competition.

8. DRAWS: To be conducted publicly at the Captains' meeting on Sunday, November 13, for 55's

and 65's, on Monday, November 14, for 75's and 80’s, and on Wednesday, November 16, for 35's and 45's with all team Captains present. Up to four teams may be seeded in a 12-team (or more) entry.

9. BALLS:

The appropriate number of cans of balls will be given to the captains at morning and afternoon check-in. If a match splits sets, one of the players or a teammate must come to the desk to get the new can of balls for the third set.

10. OFFICIALS: There will be USTA certified officials roving the court areas. Among their duties are:

Timing of warm-ups, changeovers, and rest periods Interpretation of rules Settling scoring disputes Calling foot faults without warning Enforcement of the point penalty system for code violations

11. CHECKING BALL MARKS: A player may not pass the net to check a ball mark.

12. WARM-UPS: Note that warm-ups will be limited to 5 minutes at the beginning of a scheduled match. Should play be suspended, re-warm-up will be permitted if play has been suspended:

less than 10 minutes - None more that 10 minutes - Full 5 minutes

13. MEDICAL TIME-OUT: Medical time-out includes, but is not limited to, an injury, illness, and heat-related condition or cramping. Medical time-outs consist of evaluation time as determined by the referee plus a maximum of three minutes treatment time. Only one medical time-out shall be permitted for heat-related conditions and cramping in any match, even if the heat-related condition or cramping occurs in different parts of the body.

14. REST PERIOD DURING MATCH: (See page 121, 2. e. for wording) After the second set any player is entitled to a 10-minute rest period.

15. CONTINUOUS PLAY - RULE 30 CHANGES: There is no rest on the changeover after the first game of any set. At the end of the first set, a "set break" of not longer that 120 seconds (two minutes) will be

allowed.

16. REST PERIOD BETWEEN MATCHES: (See page 119, T. 1.a. and page 120, T.1.g. for wording) All players shall be entitled to a rest period of at least 30 minutes between matches. NOTE: Players who participate in more that one age division shall be entitled to only 30 minutes rest between matches in different age divisions.

17. WATER: Water may not be available on each court at each of the facilities being used for the tournament; therefore, all players must be prepared and bring water to the court at the beginning of their matches, and to send a teammate or someone else to get additional water from the roaming water carts. NOTE: players are not permitted to leave the court during a match in order to get water.

18. ATTIRE:

Players must wear correct tennis attire. The Referee shall be the sole arbitrator as to the suitability of tennis attire, including shoes, worn by participants.

19. COACHING: Rule 31 applies. During play, a player can only receive coaching from one person (either Captain or designated teammate) who is at the court. The coaching may be given only when the player(s) change ends at the end of a game or during a set break, but not on end changes during a tiebreak. Coaching may be given during an authorized rest period. Coaching is not allowed during a toilet break, medical timeout, while seeking a referee, or during warm-up.

20. COMPETITION TERMINATION: If one team is clearly the winner, irrespective of subsequent results, individual matches scheduled to be played shall be played to conclusion and shall not be defaulted except in an extreme situation and only with the approval of the Referee and both captains.

Our airport locations are typically priced 10-20% lower than other rental car companies. When using your local corporate account outside Boca Raton, you will receive an additional 10% off the current rates at airport locations. If you are renting at a non-airport location, you will receive the standard corporate rates for that region. These rates will be given on-line for your convenience.
