POTENTATE “2013” WILLIAM J. HEBERT

Star Catering and danced the night away to tunes by Summer Brown. What a wonderful way to end out the year! Lady Sharon and I would like to express our appreciation for an amazing year. We will keep many fond memories of our friends (YOU) for years to come. It was great to spend time with Shriners old and new. We had an espe-cially fantastic time at the North-east, and hope that those of you who joined us did also. We look forward to spending many more happy times with everyone in the future. We hope that everybody had a wonderful holiday season and that you will all have a good new year. Please keep in your prayers the families of the Nobles and ladies we have lost in the last month. Yours in the faith, Bill Hebert

Greetings to all.

We started out the month of De-cember on a good note, finishing out a very successful “Fez”tival of Trees. I would like to thank everyone again who worked so hard to help make this fundraiser an overwhelming success.

The Holiday party on the 7th was a lot of fun. The overflow crowd ate a great meal provided by Five

A THANK YOU NOTE FROM FIRST LADY SHARON HEBERT

Lady Sharon would like to express a special “Thank You” to everyone who supported her quilt raffles in 2013. With your help, the music therapy program at the Boston Burns Hospital will receive $2000 toward new equipment. The two lucky win-ners of one of the two quilts were our own Helen Taplin and Katlin Stafford, niece of Amy Freeman. Thank you again.

RECORDER’S CORNER Congratulation to Kevin Carter for being elected Potentate and to the elected and ap-pointed Divan of the Bektash Shriners for 2014.

Lady Jean and I really appreciate the confidence that you have in me by reelecting me to another term. Thanks to all for your support and friendship, and most of all your dedication to Bektash. At the December Stated Meeting $1000.00 donation was made by the Stewards and $3000.00 from Simadi Shrine Club were donated to The Boston Burns, Springfield and Montreal Shrine Hospitals for Children. Their hard work in raising funds is really appreciated by the Divan and the Nobility. We still have an adequate supply of 2014 Cash Calendars on hand in the office. Please help us sell out by buying them for yourself, your family and friends. Remember the drawings are a daily event 365 days a year. So you can win even if you purchase one after the first of the year. You can win more than once. After each drawing the winning number goes back in. That's right! "Each Calendar lasts all year." They will be on sale during 2014 until all 2500 are sold. We want to thank all those that have sold Cash Cal-endars. Many have sold over 100. At the "Fez"tival of Trees the team of Bob Frawley, Ginny Frawley and Bill Greenan sold over 250. Thanks again for all your support.

Want to earn money for your Unit, Club or a Bektash Charity with no cash investment on your part?

Sell Bektash 2014 Cash Calendars

We hope you all purchase or get involved on becoming part of the 2014 Cash Calendars Raffle. A repeat of our successful event in 2013 will be made for 2014. A copy of our ad is on the adjacent page. Take a look, it’s great!

We will have a total of 2500 in 2013. This is a major fund raiser for Bektash. It is in the same league as Bingo and the “Fez”tival of Trees. It is and has been the major fund raiser for several of our sister Shrine Centers.

Here’s how you can easily become part of this exciting fund raiser! No upfront investment or upfront cash required. We supply the calendars on consignment to your Unit, Club or a Noble, your choice. Your Unit, Club or Bektash Charity can earn a commission of $2.00 for each calen-dar sold. The $2.00 commission will be paid in June 2014.

As a bonus, when we meet 2000 (of the 2500) calendars sold, the com-mission will be increased to $3.00 for each calendar sold by the Unit, Club or Noble. The $3.00 commission will be paid in 2014 to the Unit, Club or Bektash Charity of your choice. Help us sell out the calendars for 2014. We can do it! If you have noticed, if the Noble does not belong to a Unit or Club the Noble, his family and friends can sell the Calendars with the commis-sion paid to a Bektash Charity of their choice.

We will have these beautiful full color calendars in August. Based on what we have experienced for 2013 we feel that the calendars will sell out quickly. So, get yours in August and help Bekatsh sell all 2500.

Contact the Betash Office at 603-225-5372 so that we can get you started. Thanks. Joel Weinstein Recorder

2014 will be here before we know it. Help Us Sell Out!

SHRINE MAPLE SUGAR BOWL

January 1, 2014

Greetings

The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl board wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year. It is hard to imagine but in just over 8 months we will put-ting the players on Memorial Field for our 61st Annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl The planning of 61st Game is well under way. The ad pro-gram has started with the mailing of requests for ads. The Board has put the capability to get ads on the Shrine Game Web site. Please go to the site http://www.maplesugarbowl.com/ and click on purchase ads in program, where you will find the ad form with the rates and just below is a copy of the 2013 program. The board is using more electronic media to do reach out to prospective advertisers. The board would like to ask all Nobles from all three Centers to go out and get two more ads than you obtained in 2013. The web site will be changing even more as we continue to add more avenues to the game for everyone.

In January nobles will be receiving their game tickets(4) in the mail. Please help support the game with the purchase of your four tickets. These tickets will allow seating anywhere in the stadium this year as we have had to remove reserved seating from the mix due to insur-ance and safety reasons. For that reason ticket prices have changed this year. The new ticket prices are $10.00 for all Nobles. Regular pre-game is $12.00 and day of game will be $15.00. Please support the game with the purchase of your four tickets.

The Grand Marshall for the 61st game will be David Orr. David is an Emeritus Board Member representing the Bektash Center. David has been a member of the board for 52 years and has been the driving force in the band being what it is today. The band has been fully funded by his fund raising for the past seven years. The board wants to thank David for his years of service and for the many years ahead.

Yours in faith. Richard Ellis, President Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Board of Governors

WANTS YOU! Shriners of North America, is an International fraternity based on fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, truth and relief. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of hospitals dedi-cated to providing one-of-a-kind specialty pediatric care, innova-tive research and understanding teaching programs. In April 1973 the Board of Directors of the International Council officially recognized the International Association of Shrine Yacht Clubs. “IASYC” The IASYC body represents among its affiliated Shrine Temple Yacht Clubs the ambassadors of good will among the boating fra-ternity. Since its inception the club has lived up to its Masonic principals with approxi-mately twelve active members and their spouse. THE 100 MILLION DOLLAR CLUB The 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children have provided lifesaving and life-changing medical care to more than 800,000 children, regardless of their ability to pay. The money to provide these needed services at 22 hospitals comes from many sources: community donations; fundraising events; investment income; and support from the Shriners Inter-national. As health care costs increase, Shriners Hospitals needs your help, more than ever, to continue to provide more specialized care, offer medical education and conduct more research. Too many people believe that if they cannot donate or leave a large sum or money, their gift will not count. Every contribution helps. In order to encourage donors to contribute to Shriners Hospitals for Children, the HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR CLUB was es-tablished in 1972. The club is named for its goal of adding 100 million dollars to the endowment fund through gifts or bequests of $100 or more.

HOW TO JOIN There are three ways to become a member of the 100 Million Dollar Club: (1) By contributing $100 or more to Shriners Hospi-tals for Children; (2) By having your will include a bequest of $100 or more to Shriners Hospitals for Children; or (3) By adding a provision to an existing will leaving $100 or more to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Shriners. Please fill out the form on the right and send your contribution to Bektash Shriner's Recorder Joel Weinstein.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE Each donor receives a handsome 100 Million Dollar Club certifi-cate. By contributing $100, you can feel like a million, knowing that you have helped to ensure that Shriners Hospitals for Chil-dren will be able to continue helping children in the years to come.

To the promised land our friends have gone, To the land of perfect rest;

Their work is done—and the setting sun Has sealed their life’s request.

They have left this earthly strand, For the house beyond the sea,

Though the past is gone, they will still live on To us all—Sweet in our Memory.
