OSPREY LONDONOSPREY LONDON, the English luxury leather brand, invited us to design andbuild their new outlet enterprise. While most outlet owners typically invest thebare minimum in store design, for OSPREY LONDON it was essential to providea premium retail experience.

The store design captures the interplay of an English formal style with somethingwarmer, quirkier and individual, which is the essence of the OSPREY LONDON style.

"JSA have an outstanding track record in retail design and build. They understand that time is money and that any store fit out has tobe completed and operating in the shortest time possible, with qualityturn-out and minimum disruption."Graeme Ellisdon, Managing Director OSPREY LONDON

Living in StoreWe were appointed by business woman Sally Abram todevelop a new interior concept for her lifestyle store“Livingin Store”, which was launched in a Grade II listed building inMarlow. The aim was to bring together an eclectic mix ofbeautiful products, from furniture and fabrics to gifts andeven food, in an exclusive yet simple environment.

The ten week project entailed complete interiorand exterior renovation of the building, including theconstruction of a new shop front and conservatory to therear. The fit out was undertaken to exacting standardsand included mechanical and electrical works, joineryworks, hard and soft flooring, decorations and bespokemanufactured fixtures and fittings.

“I have been thrilled with the involvement of JSAthroughout our project. Their work has been thoroughand yet personal at every stage and most importantlyI have felt in very safe hands with any issues orcomplications being dealt with in an efficientand professional manner. They have successfullyinterpreted my vision and brought it to reality offeringtheir advice and expertise if needed. The staff are alllovely from the receptionist to the designers andproject managers. M&Co Fashion Concept StoreSignalling M&Co’s continued drive to become the first choice UK fashion value brand, M&Co invitedJSA to design a new 3,000sq ft concept store, situated in Green Lanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple.

The creation of a younger ambience throughout the store was achieved through the choice ofrich purple and deep turquoise tones with hints of sparkling metallics. This was complimentedby a mixture of solid ironwood timber, stunning creamy ceramic, textured papers, luxurious silksand buttoned upholstery.

Focal points draw people through the store and produce a relatively clean and minimal feel. The perimeter walls, clad in white high gloss panels feature a carved undulating wave pattern, withtwo impact panels providing wonderful visual merchandising opportunities.

Drawing its inspiration from a catwalk, the innovative design of the window beds includes an opensection at the back that allows the catwalk to flow into the shop floor, connecting the two areas. This is echoed towards the back of the store with a curved stage leading into the fitting room area.

"We have worked with JSA for a few years now and the challenge this time was to create ashop environment that would attract a customer '10 years younger' and who avidly followsfashion. I think they have done an exceptional job. Our shoppers are already 8 yearsyounger and the new-look stores are certainly creating a stir!"AndrewMcGeoch, Director of Marketing & Business Development.

M&Co Clothing and Homeware StoresEstablished in 1834, M&Co is one of the country's largest privately-ownedretailers in the UK, operating 300 value clothing and homeware storesacross the UK.

Selected to expand and redesign its portfolio of existing and newlyacquired stores, our task was to develop a series of distinct andinspirational store components that could be employed to refresh thebrand’s existing concept.

It was essential for the design to allow for evolution so that it could beeasily translated across all the store sizes, with theatre and excitementbeing incorporated within the retailer's top stores.

Tree View CafeAs part of our ongoing work with the independent department store Barkers in Northallerton, wewere asked to re-brand the food service offer within their hugely successful furniture store. The projectincluded the creation of a brand name and identity, as well as the design and build of the interior.

Located on the first floor "Tree View" provides a stylish and chic destination, drawing its inspirationfrom its tree top outlook. The concept combines bright tropical colours with soft beige and warmtimbers. A mixed seating combination of soft armchairs and leather dining chairs offers the customera relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

"JSA has created another truly unique concept for us which has been very well received. Ourcustomers love it! We now have a really good increase in sales and footfall within the store."Charles Barker Managing Director

Barbours Dumfries – MenswearAfter completing works to the ladies’ fashion department for Barbours Dumfries afew years back, we were commissioned to design and fit out their Menswear formaland Young Fashion areas, giving both departments a different concept ambience.

Young Fashion was designed with the idea of creating a ‘Street’ feel. This effect wascreated using solid timber cladding to the walls and columns, concrete effectcoverings running up the sides of walls and onto the ceiling in designatedareas, together with mild steel hanging rails and freestanding perimeter bays. The industrial look was further enhanced with secondary layers of ‘Graffiti’graphicsand bright orange fitting rooms.

Menswear formal was designed with a more traditional approach, using a paletteof dark grey edging detail and soft white perimeter panels.

Long Tall SallyWe worked with the multi-channel retailer of fashion for tallerwomen to redevelop an existing store concept.

The interior is an elegant yet contemporary design with a palette ofmaterials that includes limestone, lavish wall coverings, matt chromefixturing and specialist laminates, all of which ensures powerfulbrand development.

"This is the first time we have worked with JSA, yet theyinterpreted and developed the existing design concept withgreat understanding and practicality. We are delightedwith the finished result, which was delivered on time, onbudget and with the minimum of fuss – their professionalteam is a pleasure to deal with and we would not hesitateto recommend them."Andrew Shapin, Managing Director, Long Tall Sally

Browns BeverleyChosen by the Yorkshire indie department store group Browns to work on the retaildesign of its third store in Beverley, East Yorkshire, our brief was to transform the town’sformer Picture Playhouse into an upmarket family-owned department store.

The faded excess of a bygone era was stripped away transforming the two-storey12,000 sq ft building into a light and airy destination, resplendent with the high-qualityfixtures and fittings of a twenty-first century store.

The store’s interior is fresh and contemporary, with personality and individualitybeing added through subtle approaches in materials, fixturing and merchandising.New departments include Ladies Fashion, Lingerie, Cosmetics, Shoes, Handbags andAccessories together with a seventy four seater restaurant.

“We’re delighted with the results that JSA have achieved with the store design, and in addition trade is also well ahead of sales targets and expectations.”Nicholas Brown, Managing Director

Blacks Leisure GroupOur relationship with Blacks started in 2008 when we were appointed to work on the new Millets storecontract. Following on from the success of this project we were selected to undertake the rapid fit-outof the new Blacks “Cool Air” format all over the UK, including flagship stores in Birmingham, Belfast,Glasgow & Manchester. The accelerated Blacks roll out meant that we could go from the initialnotification of a project to on-site within just a few weeks. Each site presented a different challenge, ranging from major structural works to strategic planning and procurement to hit tight deadlines.

“Despite the lack of both lead-in and construction time, JSA were well organised andperformed admirably in every department, ensuring that all sites were handed over to theretail team on time. They provided an excellent service and we hope to use them againon future projects.”David Smith, Blacks Leisure Shop Fitting Co-ordinator.
