Infrascan® Motion SensorsThe Infrascan is designed to conveniently turn lights on automatically when movement is detected, and turn off after a preset period of time. Indoor Infrascans are suitable for open plan areas, single rooms, offices, laundries, toilets, walk-in robes, hallways and pantries.

The outdoor Infrascan will operate in all weather conditions and features long-range detection with immunity to false triggering. Infrascans can be used for garages, driveways, porches and outdoor living areas. They provide peace of mind by automatically lighting up an area to deter intruders and trespassers. They also provide energy and cost savings as lights are switched on only when required.

Sunset SwitchesSunset Switches use a light sensor to switch lights on once daylight levels drop below the desired level, and switch lights off again at sunrise.

They automatically adjust to seasonal changes and are also available with inbuilt timers so you can programme the lights to turn off after a preset time. C-Bus Home Control can be easily customised to suit your specific needs and requirements. The capabilities and function combinations are endless and limited only by your imagination.

C-Bus Home Control gives you remote or automated control of different elements of your home. For some, it might be as simple as wanting the ability to turn off all your appliances via remote control to reduce standby power and conserve energy. Alternatively, you might wish to control your entire home at the touch of a button. It’s important to understand that a C-Bus Home Control system doesn’t need to be expensive or extensive… the choice is yours.

When you’re deciding what to include in your home control system, it’s important to consider the following:

1) What do you want to control?

The scope of what C-Bus can control and automate is extensive. For instance, you can control just lighting, or lighting and Multi-Rom Audio. Or, you can have your whole home automated by incorporating lighting, Multi-Room Audio, air conditioning, heating, energy monitoring, irrigation, blinds and curtains, environment sensors, windows, ceiling fans, as well as security, surveillance, pool and spa equipment, audiovisual equipment and access control, into one intelligent and managed system.

2) What areas do you want to control?

Once you’ve worked out what elements you want to control, it’s just as important to consider what areas of your home you want to control. A wired or wireless C-Bus system can be installed to control one or more elements i.e. lighting in the living room, or audio and lighting in the dining room. Similarly, C-Bus can control just the living and entertainment areas, outside, in multiple rooms or in the whole home.

3) What level of functionality do you require?

The C-Bus system is designed with maximum flexibility and functionality in mind. Occupancy SensorsUtilise sensors in your pantry, hallway or closet. They’ll automatically turn lights on when you enter and turn lights off when you leave.

All Off SwitchAt the press of a button, automatically turn off all your lights and appliances, which may use standby power. An “all off” function can be incorporated into an “away” or “goodbye” scene for when you leave the house.

C-Bus ThermostatC-Bus Thermostats can be easily set to function in a power saving mode (Setback Mode). Heading off to work? Simply press the “goodbye” scene on your keypad or touch screen to turn off all the lights and reduce energy consumption for heating or cooling.

Castle de la Mer is a dream home with four floors of luxurious living at a beachside location on the Central Coast. With the Pacific Ocean a stone’s throw away from the front lawn and Tuggerah Lakes just a five minute stroll from the back door, stunning backdrops are literally on its doorstep.

The extravagant setting is just one of the many luxuries when it comes to this decadent residence. There are five double bedrooms (each with its own en suite), a nine-person lift, a gym and ‘wow factor’ kitchen and dining areas. Not to mention that there is a penthouse rooftop terrace with a Jacuzzi, and two stylish lounge bars with fitted beer taps.

The owners were referred to Automated Innovation, who worked on the project for over 18 months. They drew up all the project plans and created the lighting and system designs too. A team of six installed the C-Bus Home Control system, audiovisual system, intercoms, security and the data cabling throughout the house. Every element of convenience has been sprinkled across the entire house, incorporating the highest levels of technology.

The home has both a C-Bus colour touch screen and a desktop black and white touch screen, as well as over 20 graphical display DLTs throughout the home. Sleek Clipsal C-Bus Saturn glass switches complement the stylish interior décor, and Clipsal Saturn power outlets provide the finishing touch to this 21st century home.

The owners wanted full control throughout for maximum convenience, while consuming minimal energy. They had been to a display home where C-Bus was installed, and they loved the possibilities that C-Bus could offer.

They are thrilled that they are able to operate every light from just one area. This has given them the power to set the lighting level for a room before they get there (very helpful when you live in a four storey home). Importantly, on any touch screen they can see where lights have been left on and can switch them off.

This new multi-storey house had the location and the views, but the owners also wanted it to be the ultimate entertainment home for themselves and their guests.

‘Entertain’, ‘Goodnight’ and ‘Panic’. As C-Bus controls the exterior downlights around the home the ‘Panic’ setting triggers them all on when it is activated. Another amazing security feature of C-Bus is the ‘Away’ scene.

“The ‘Away’ scene will turn off all the lights when you leave, but it will then turn on random lights so it appears as if someone is at home. There are 18 motorised blinds in the home and when the ‘Away’ setting is activated all the blinds come down at the touch of a button, saving time and managing the energy consumption,” said Nathan Gill of Automated Innovation.

Another C-Bus feature which saves money, while improving security, is the sunrise/sunset schedule. Nathan explained how this is used to control when the exterior lighting comes on.

"C-Bus is programmed to know when the exact sunset and sunrise times are for the location. We entered in the home’s longitude and latitude, and the exterior lighting comes on at sunset and turns off at sunrise. The system also auto adjusts for daylight savings.”

As the house is next to the beach access path, security was a concern to the owners, so they wanted the ultimate hi-tech security system that could give them complete peace of mind. Automated Innovation installed camera systems around the home, which

are integrated with video intercoms and C-Bus PIR light sensors. The security alarm system is so well integrated that when it’s activated not only do all the lights go on, but an alarm message is announced over the speaker system.

The proximity to the beach posed another challenge for Nathan’s team - all the outside lighting and equipment had to be rated to withstand the elements. High quality marine-grade CCTV and intercom points, plus a customised stainless steal antenna and mount, were used to combat this issue.

Nathan described the job as a ‘dream’. Aside from working at such a breathtaking location, the main advantage was having the space to build a dedicated ‘control room’ for the C-Bus system.

As a new build property, Nathan and his team proposed a dedicated room for the audiovisual equipment – and the owners agreed.

“Usually you don’t get given much space for your audiovisual equipment. We were given a room that allowed us to centrally locate a rack for front, rear and side access; to house all their Foxtel and set-top boxes; to have the DVD players and amplifiers in one place.

“The 45RU rack consists of a Leaf Matrix over a Cat. 5e system, allowing any room in the home to access any of

the eight sources located in the rack or the two local DVD players.”

What made this customised room even better was that it was climate controlled. The air conditioning activates at a set temperature, so when the room gets too warm the air conditioning exhaust fan kicks in.”

Nathan went on to explain that the control room was beneficial to his team and to the owners. By having a more convenient space it will make the equipment easy to service, upgrades can be done faster and it eliminates the risk of overheating. The benefit to the homeowners is that upgrades or system changes are easier and quicker too.

“If the client wants to change a scene or wants a switch to change its function, it is often just a programming change and usually can be done remotely from our office. There is no need to change wiring or for us to leave the office, so it’s an economical service for the customer,” Nathan advised.
