    What is an Intelligent Building?

    An intelligent building can control its

    internal loads to make them operate more

    efficiently, while maintaining end-user

    comfort.

    Such a building is equipped with:

    -Energy management systems (EMS), or- Building automation systems (BAS).

    What is a Microgrid? A microgrid is a subset of an electric power system, generally located at

    the distribution level. It is a coordinated electrical subsystem with:

    multiple distributed energy sources, loads, a section of network and is

    capable of operating independently from the grid.

    At a minimum, a microgrid can comprise a single customer with localgeneration and loads. A part of the distribution feeder, or the whole

    distribution feeder, or the whole distribution substation can also be

    considered a microgrid
