WHAT IS web 2.0?

Definition

It’s a concept deeply linked to “social media” : a Web 2.0 site may allow users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where people are limited to the passive viewing of content.

Web 2.0 is a term describing changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web.

One of the most famous 2.0 sites is Youtube: the video platform that allows everyone to upload and broadcast their own video. Users can upload, view and share videos. Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, although media corporations including CBS, the BBC, VEVO, Hulu, and other organizations offer some of their material via the site.
