Home Training
Home training forms an integral part of your preparation for
competition and should be appropriate to prepare you for
your upcoming events.
All competitors will benefit from speed, fitness and flexibility
work that is suitable for your age and abilities. Try walking,
swimming or cycling if a high impact practice such as running
is not appropriate for you. Your goal is to improve your
performance without causing damage to your body with the
wrong type of training. If you are in doubt ask Sensei Don for
assistance.
Kumite competitors should work continuously on their
fighting combinations until they become second nature.
Fighting combinations were designed to be practically applied
during sparring and will help prevent you from developing a
basic one, two hit strategy often seen in tournament sparring.
All competitors need to work on their kata, you need to
understand the application of each move, the execution of
each move and the purpose of your chosen kata as a whole.
On the following pages you have the opportunity to map out
both your fighting combinations and chosen katas.

Dietary Changes for Good Health
It is important that you give yourself the best chance possible
to be healthy when travelling and competing.
Eat a wide variety of fruit, vegetables and good protein, keep
yourself hydrated and consider a supplement if you feel your
diet may be lacking.
Speak to a professional if you are unsure of what you need to
do to prepare yourself for the journey you are about to
embark on.
