Intelligent Buildings International

Aims and Scope “Intelligent Buildings are ones in which the building fabric, space, services and information systems can respond in an effective manner to the initial and changing demands of the owner, occupier and environment”

Intelligent buildings are essentially about people, processes and systems - it is the interdisciplinary nature of the design process which is important, with new methodologies, smart materials, systems and evaluative tools being applied in an integrated manner. Intelligent Buildings International examines developments in the design, construction and operating procedures for intelligent buildings, and will explore the wider context, linking practical solutions with sociological and economic considerations.

The principal areas considered are, the nature of intelligent buildings, integrated design, sustainability, automation and the application of innovation. Going beyond traditional engineering and architectural solutions, and in an effort to overcome fragmentation at educational and professional levels, peer-reviewed research is complemented by contributions from industrial specialists critically evaluating technologi-cal developments. State-of-the-art analysis is also presented alongside broad systems reviews and rigorous case studies.
