Recent articles in the press regarding possible fraudulent activity in which members of the quantity surveying professionhave been implicated is of grave concern to the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession and theAssociation of South African Quantity Surveyors.

Mr Steve Lyons, Registrar of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession states that the quantitysurveying profession has a track record of strictly ensuring that the public and client’s financial interests in respect toconstruction projects are properly managed and safeguarded at all time. He says: “The ethics of the profession is suchthat we regularly encourage both clients such as Government and private enterprise, plus the registered professionalsthemselves to report any unacceptable behaviour for the SA Quantity Surveying Council to take strict and decisive action.In this regard, we applaud members of the public and those courageous individuals in the public service who blow thewhistle on any fraudulent activity.
