Phase 1 : Determine relative advantage

Focus : Why should I use a technology-based method? Teacher look at their current teaching problems and identify technology-based methods that may offer good solution.

The following make it easier to see relative advantage:

Trialability

Observability

Are there any topics or curriculum objectives I have difficulty teaching?

What is the relative advantage of the technology-based solutions?

Phase 2: Decide on objectives and assessments

Teachers acquire the following kind of material:

Performance checklists

Criterion checklists

Rubrics

Issues to address in phase 2:

What kind of performances do I expect from students to show they learned?

What is the best way for me to assess students’ learning progress and product: e.g. written test (multiple choice, true-false, essays), performance or criterion checklists, rubrics?

Phase 3: Design integration strategies

This means making decisions about:

Should activities be derected, constructivist, or a combination of these?

Will the instruction be single subject or interdisciplinary?

Have I allowed student enough time to get used to materials bifore beginning a graded activity?

Phase 4: Prepare the environment

Focus : Are essential conditions in place to support teaching and learning? Teacher organize the teaching environment so technology

How many computers and copies of software will be needed to carry out the activiries?

How many computers and copies of software ar available?

Have I provided for students’ privacy and safety?

Do I have the original program disk handy to reinstall them if necessary?

Do I have a backup plan if I cannot use the resources as I had planed?

Phase 5: Evaluate and revise

Focus : What worked well? What could be improved? Teachers review outcome data and information on technology-integrated methods and determine what should be changed to make them work better next time?
