Instructor, Painting and Decorating (Term) Construction Trades Applicants are to clearly demonstrate how they satisfy the selection criteria in their written submissions and must identify the competition number they are applying for in the subject line of the email.

This competition may be used to establish a 6 month eligibility list of qualified candidates for future vacancies.

DUTIES Reporting to the Chair of the Construction Trades department, the Instructor is required to deliver both the theoretical and practical aspects of painting and decorating to all apprenticeship levels. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, trade safety, tools and equipment, painting techniques, wall coverings, surface analysis and remedies. Duties include, but are not limited to: development and modification of curriculum, conduct student assessment and counseling, perform lab and classroom facility design and setup, maintain lab and classroom equipment and perform related administrative responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Valid inter-provincial journeyperson's certificate in Painting and Decorating • Significant related industry experience in the commercial and/or residential aspects of the trade • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Effective interpersonal skills • Effective leadership skills • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings • Ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes • Ability to present material to diverse groups with the use of appropriate technology • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) • Experience using a variety of hand tools and equipment • Experience estimating and reading blueprints and specifications • Values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion • Commitment to lifelong learning

ASSETS • Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) or Technical Vocational Diploma • Post-secondary instructional experience • A network of contacts within industry
