A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALDR. ELLIOT PRAGER

Dear Moriah Family,

Since our founding, Moriah has continued its long established tradition of excellence. Much has changed over the years: greater understanding of brain science and how we learn, greater understanding of a child’s cognitive, emotional and social growth, new teaching strategies that motivate and meet the needs of each child and new technological learning tools only dreamed of when our school was founded. Moriah

has embraced the best of these educational developments with a vast array of initiatives that have brought palpable enhancement and change to the way our teachers teach and the way our students learn.

This past year, we introduced new learning programs in math, language arts, Tanach and Hebrew. And, with the integration of laptops into the Lower School classrooms, collaboration, critical thinking skills, individu-alized learning and responsible social media skills are rapidly becoming second nature for our students.

Our social skills curriculum, “Conversations,” has become the foundation of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the ethical, social, and emotional growth of our children and translates our Brit Midot from words into action. The quest for a greater personal connection of our Middle Schoolers to tefillah has produced a variety of different venues and approaches in our Middle School davening.

Our dedication to instill in every talmid and talmida Ahavat Torah, Ahavat Yisrael and Ahavat Ha’aretz has produced over the years an enormous cadre of graduates who have demonstrated their capable leadership skills and devotion to Klal Yisrael. The traditional and the new, together with a stellar faculty, are what keeps Moriah the dynamic yeshiva that we have been and will continue to be.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT EVAN SOHN

Dear Parents, Alumni and Friends of Moriah,

On behalf of the Executive Committee & Board of Trustees, it is my privilege to present Moriah’s first Annual Report which reflects the 2011–12 accounting period beginning July 1, 2011 and ending June 30, 2012. This 2011–2012 report provides an overview of Moriah’s key financial and operational activities and metrics. It will serve as the baseline moving forward in measuring Moriah’s

financial and operational progress and effectiveness.

Throughout its history, Moriah has stood for excellence in Jewish education and general studies. Our responsibility is to ensure that Moriah delivers the caliber of education and skills that our 800+ students need to sustain them on their journeys to future professional and communal contribution and leadership.

Today there is stronger demand for academic achievement, the need for special services has emerged as a requirement for any top notch private school and competition for placement in high schools has never been greater. We must position Moriah for continued success for the next generation.

Since the first meeting of our Executive Committee in July 2012, there has been a vision, a monumental effort and an unyielding commitment to the pursuit of setting Moriah on a permanent course to fiscal self-sustainability while maximizing transparency to our Moriah community.

Moriah belongs to all of us: parents, administrators, educators, staff and students. We look toward its brightest future and in doing so appreciate your trust and confidence.

We give our time and support to

Moriah because education is extremely

important to our family. Moriah provides

the spiritual foundation that our kids will

have for life. We have made it our priority

to support the school and all of its activities

anyway we can in order to give our children

the greatest opportunities possible.

We support Moriah because we are so

delighted that four of our granddaughters

attend there. We are very impressed

with the excellence of the faculty,

administrators and students. Given the

ages of our grandchildren at Moriah

(6 to14), we look forward to continuing our

relationship for many more years.

Jewish education is

imperative to the survival of

our community and our

traditions. We are so blessed

that our children will learn

to pass on that legacy to

future generations.

Moriah has 804 students in Nursery through 8th grade.

In September 2013 Moriah alumni will be attending numerous Ivy League schools including Harvard, Princeton, Columbia & University of Pennsylvania.

The Gesher Yehuda program educates children in grades 1 – 5 with learning disabilities in a ground breaking inclusive program.

MAP, the Moriah Association of Parents, helps fund special projects at the school like monthly Spirit Days and the website.

The foundation for my love

of Israel came from my days at

Moriah. Giving back to Moriah is my

way of showing ha’karat ha’tov

to the wonderful teachers &

administration that helped to form

the core of who I am.
