David Lombard and Brian Woolls-King joined forces to form

a new company in 2014, combining their diverse yet

complementary expertise and experience. Lombard

Consulting Engineers is a multi-disciplinary consulting

engineering practice, delivering a high standard of

mechanical and electrical services to the building industry.

By using state-of-the-art computer aided design software,

such as Revit MEP (Certified Professional Operators), we

offer a service capable of providing enhanced, cost

effective, environmentally friendly and proactive

engineering solutions and designs.

We have a passion for “green” designs and are

constantly seeking new ways to reduce energy

consumption within systems and buildings.

We are currently focused on the private hospital and

commercial building industries, and are looking to

expand further into the public works medical and

commercial building industries, as well as retail and

urban/township reticulation.

The staff of Lombard Consulting Engineers has

experience in the building industry stretching back more

than 30 years, and share the same passion for design and

service excellence.

DIRECTOR

David Lombard obtained his Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree from the University of Stellenbosch

in 1998. He started his career at Motor Control Cape, which is a contracting company specialising in Building

Management Systems (BMS). After a six month spell with Motor Control Cape, he arranged to work for their

equipment supplier, Siemens Building Technologies, in the Middle East. Based in Cyprus he did most of his

work on a large project in Iran between 1998 and 2000.

On his return to Cape Town, he worked the following two years for a large HVAC contractor, Southern Air

Conditioning. With a strong foundation formed on site and in the contracting arena, he decided to move to

the consulting world.

Between 2002 and 2007 he worked for Spoormakers and Partners (HVAC specialists) and from 2007 he joined

KV3 Engineers (multi-disciplinary), which later became WorleyParsons (large corporate). In 2014 he decided

to break away and approached Brian Woolls-King to form Lombard Consulting Engineers.

David is professionally registered with ECSA and obtained his Professional Engineering status in 2004. He has a

passion for large energy efficient systems and the drive to go green. His attention to detail and experience

on all fronts of the building industry, makes his experience an asset of great value to all working with him.

Brian Woolls-King completed his tertiary education at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in

1995, where he obtained a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1985 he received his

Government Certificate of Competency in Mechanical Engineering and after a conversion course to

Electrical, obtained his Government Certificate of Competency in Electrical Engineering in 1990. He

is registered as a Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA and the Engineering Council in

Zambia.

Brian started his career with Murray and Stewart Mechanical, whereafter he proceeded to John

Thomson where he did commissioning and thermal efficiency testing of steam plants around South

Africa and Swaziland. After a 3 year stint working for the French company Framatome as a start-up

engineer on the nuclear island at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, he joined Mediclinic as Group

Services Engineer in 1985.

He left Mediclinic in 1997 and started BWK Engineering Services, specializing in mechanical and

electrical design for building services, mainly in the private hospital industry and some commercial

developments. He has completed many successful projects over the years and has a wealth of

knowledge and experience to share with his staff members and is one of the leading hospital design

engineers in the country. He became a director of Lombard Consulting Engineers in 2014 after

co-founding the company with David Lombard.
