We looked at Adweek.com, as they are a huge marketing site which we were already familiar with. So we went on their profile on AdClarity in order to see which companies, or advertisers, were buying media on it
We identified Exacttarget as being a company who targeted the same audience as us, without being our competitor

So now we simply opened up ExactTarget's profile on AdClarity and immediately found a list of all the publisher websites that they're running their ads on.
We identified business2community.com, a site that we have heard of but never bought media on, and opened their profile, only to discover:

Next, we uncovered all the banners, creatives, and landing page concepts that worked best for our exacttarget and other leading brands in our industry.
We even visited Exacttarget’s landing pages to see what content they were offering
