本誌``MEDICAL IMAGING TECHNOLO‐

GY(Med lmag Techメ'の

創刊に際し, 筆者

は編集委員の一人としていろいろな学術誌を参

考にさせてもらった。この分野での影響力の強

い米国の IEEE(The lnStitute of Electronical

and Electronics Engineers,Inc.)の刊行誌も

その対象であった。シンポジウムの報文集を定

期誌の中の一つの号として出版し,報 文の引用

を容易にするこ とヤよ ``IEEE Transactions on

Nuclear Science''誌に学んだ。そのためにた

とえば,今 年の第 2回 医用画像工学シンポジウ

ムの報文を引用するのに``Med lmag Tech lS:

誌を創刊 した。同誌は,医 用画像工学の専門誌

なので,こ の分野の研究者の必読誌 となると思

われ る。そ こで,す でに御存知の方 も多いか と

思 うが,入 手困難な方々の便利のために,同 誌

を招介 させていただ く.

季刊 (年4号 )の 予定で,現 在までに三つの号

が出された.Fig。1に その目次を例示するとと

もに,Fig。2に 投稿 ・購読に必要なすべてが書

かれた規定を転載する.同 誌は活版印刷である

ことと VOluntary Page Charge($85/printed

page)を徴集する点が"IEEE Trans Nucl Sci''

と異なっている。

1980～82年,筆 者は同誌の主学者Ter‐Pogos―

sianと共に time―of‐night pOsitron CTの開発

研究を行ってきたので,同 誌刊行の舞台裏を知

ることとな り,また,査読員としても関与してき

た。それだけに同誌に対する愛着があり,今 ま

でに三つの掲載論文の著者となった。その同誌

と今回創刊した本誌``Med lmag TeCh力

とは

そのカバーする分野がピッタリと一致し/てしま

う。現在 日本は多 くの技術において米国以上の

レベルに達しているが, ソフトウエアを重要な

部分とする imagingの 分野においては総体と

してまだ米国以上といい難いような気がする。

日本の活発な研究によって,一 日も早 く本誌が

IEEE誌 と並が地位を築けることを楽しみにし

たい。
