BETT 2010A great time was had by all and as usual we were glad to be back on the coach! Have a look at my short photographic record of the day.
Ordnance SurveyOrdnance Survey have a wealth of free resources available. http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/education/ Have a look at Get-a-map and Mapzone.
English HeritageThis excellent site has resources, lesson plans and whiteboard files for all ages. http://www.heritageexplorer.org.uk/web/he/default.aspx
PosterousPosterous is possibly the world’s easiest way to post text, sound files and video online. It’s free and you get 1Gb of space. www.posterous.com Check the FAQ for information about privacy and group use.
E-safety audit“The NEN is the UK collaborative network for education, providing schools with a safe, secure and reliable learning environment and direct access to a growing range of online services and content.” They have developed a very useful audit tool which will help schools in all sectors identify gaps and plug them. http://www.northerngrid.org/ngflwebsite/esafety_audit_tool/esafety_audit_tool.html
New Primary CurriculumThe new primary curriculum is now online at http://curriculum.qcda.gov.uk/new-primary-curriculum/ with full information, advice on planning and case studies. It will become statutory in 2011.
Free ICT trainingICT CPD 4 free is a new web site, sponsored by TDA, offering ICT teachers FREE on-line continuing professional development opportunities. I mentioned it a few newsletters ago but now it is active.
CBeebies Storieshttp://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/stories/ is the link to a range of stories suitable for very young children. Included is useful information for grownups.
Integrating E-safety in Primary SchoolsAs well as many other useful things SEGfL have published a link to a scheme of work that suggests ways e-safety can be embedded into the primary ICT scheme of work. http://microsites.segfl.org.uk/view_page.php?id=780

TES ConnectAs resources sites go this is a good one. By teachers for teachers resources are suitable for all sectors. The main site is at http://www.tes.co.uk/resourcehub.aspx?s_cid=16 but the next link shows the resources collected for Storytelling Week.http://www.tes.co.uk/resourcecalendar.aspx?nbday=0&nbmth=1&nbyr=2010&evcode=68&s_cid=16
New ThinkUKnow materialsCEOP have released a new version of ThinkUKnow for KS3/4. It includes new videos, is matched to emerging safety issues and is more interactive than the previous version. I know a lot of schools found ThinkUKnow useful and I am happy to deliver the new materials to students who have already seen the old presentation or to students new to this programme. As it involves discussion class sized groups are best.
Futurelab survey for KS3/4Futurelab are surveying KS3/4 students about their perceptions of participation and education, learning spaces and technology in the future. Could you please encourage students to go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/buildingschools ? Thankyou.
Internet Explorer and safetyIf Internet Explorer is your browser of choice and you have IE8 or are about to download it please have a look at the safety button from CEOP that will sit in the toolbar. http://www.ceop.police.uk/ie8/
