British PatheIt was only a short time ago teachers were asked to delete any files they might have downloaded as the contract for use came to and end. Happily a new one has been put in place allowing anyone downloading from a school IP to do so for free and for learners to be able to use the clips to illustrate their work. Instructions can be found at: http://www.segfl.org.uk/projects/show/British_Pathe_News/
Google Motion ChartThis is an amazing facility to bring data to life. Take a look at this ‘how to’ at: http://tinyurl.com/mbzfya The most compelling example, although very hard to replicate, can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/db6clt
Using...A lot of schools and other organisations are now using applications like Twitter and Facebook. While there needs to be an understanding of safety issues (as with all activities) if you’ve ever wondered what possible use, say, Twitter could be have a look at: http://tinyurl.com/kw3wyl
SafetyA new resource from Childnet, well suited to years 3 and 4. http://www.childnet-int.org/kia/primary/smartadventure/default.aspx “The SMART Adventure illustrates Childnet’s SMART rules and includes a real life SMART Crew of young people who guide the cartoon characters in their quest and help them make smart online decisions.”
Primary mathematicsMany people will have seen these resources but as the site is a little tricky to navigate at times I thought I’d post the links here. For notes on use of the resources got to: http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/102704?uc=force_uj If you want to wade straight in to find a resource to help with a topic they can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/atuf26
Tiny URLTiny URL is one of many sites where you can paste a really long URL and it will convert it to something much shorter that is more easily copied or emailed. http://tinyurl.com/
Used in schoolsIt would be really interesting for other teachers to see how you use ICT, either to teach or for learners to record learning. If you have any links you would like to share please email me. [email protected]
