You may then access the software from any supported Windows desktop onthe network and manage all supported network-connected peripherals.

HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 offers several installation options. If you have installed a previous version ofHP Web Jetadmin 10.2, you can choose to upgrade the previous version or install a new copy.Upgrading an older version preserves your settings for discovery options and groups and is most likelythe best choice if you have already been using HP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

NOTE: HP recommends that you fully test HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 in environments where earlierreleases have been integrated into critical business operations. HP Web Jetadmin device management,alerting, and other features have been greatly improved with the introduction of HP Web Jetadmin10.2 and, prior to implementing this software into full production, HP recommends that you fully testand qualify the application.

Please read all support materials when implementing HP Web Jetadmin 10.2. For current informationregarding HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 software, see the documents on http://www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin Self Help tab titled Late Breaking News, Supported Devices on HP WebJetadmin 10.2.

NOTE: If the installation stops with a warning that a reboot is required, reboot the host on which theHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 installer is running. Then relaunch the installer to continue to installation.

System RequirementsHP Web Jetadmin now includes improved network device communication protocols and new internalcomponents that manage application and device data. These improvements extend the capabilities ofHP Web Jetadmin and improve usage and performance in device lists, columns, and filtering functions.

HP Web Jetadmin is supported on platforms with Microsoft Windows and .NET Framework high-priority updates. During each development cycle, HP regularly tests HP Web Jetadmin on platforms withthe current Microsoft updates. HP investigates all post-release software issues that customers report. Forthe latest information about current software issues, see the Late Breaking News for HP Web Jetadmin10.2, which is available on the Self Help and Documentation tab at www.hp.com/go/wja.

HP Web Jetadmin requires the Windows HTTP SSL service. HP Web Jetadmin uses SSL to communicatewith newer HP devices through port 8050.

Operating Systems

NOTE: For more information about a specific Microsoft operating system, go to www.microsoft.com.

HP Web Jetadmin Server Application

HP recommends the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (R2 or 64-bit edition) Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP2 or later (64-bit edition) Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit edition)Although you can use the following operating systems, HP does not recommend their use for productionHP Web Jetadmin installations:

Notes

Recent software improvements have increased resource capacity requirements. HP stronglyrecommends the 64-bit editions of Windows for production HP Web Jetadmin installations.

For the server, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is the minimum required. If the HP Web Jetadmin installerdoes not detect .NET Framework, the installer provides instructions for installing .NET Framework.

Newer operating systems, such as Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, include WindowsInstaller 4.5. If Windows Installer 4.5 is not already installed, the HP Web Jetadmin installerprovides the appropriate Microsoft URL to obtain Windows Installer 4.5.

Print queue creation and print path management are not supported from Microsoft Windows Vista,Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 64-bit, and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 systemsthat either run HP Web Jetadmin or function as a print queue management server.

Local administrator access is required to install or upgrade HP Web Jetadmin. Production HP Web Jetadmin installations are restricted to dedicated hosts. Running

HP Web Jetadmin on systems that are also mail servers, DNS servers, domain controllers, and soon is not supported.

HP Web Jetadmin Client Application

HP requires the following operating systems:

The HP Web Jetadmin client application is a 32-bit application that runs as HPWJAClient.exe. If the HP Web Jetadmin installer does not detect .NET Framework, the installer provides

instructions for installing .NET Framework.

Virtual Machine (Optional Platform)

HP recommends the following virtualization solutions:

Notes

For a VMware server, the virtual machine network must be set to bridged to facilitateHP Web Jetadmin communications.

It is very important to configure VMware so that its guest or virtual systems have enough resourcesto support HP Web Jetadmin and Microsoft SQL server. To ensure that the appropriate resourcesare provisioned, see the support documentation for the VMware version you are using.

Server Hardware

HP recommends the following server hardware configuration:

4 or more processor cores 2.8 GHz or higher processor speed 4 GB or more of RAM 4 GB of available storageAlthough you can use the following server hardware configuration, HP does not recommend its use forproduction HP Web Jetadmin installations:

2 processor cores 2.33 GHz processor speed 3 GB of RAM (2 GB is required for the HP Web Jetadmin Service)

NOTE: HP Web Jetadmin uses a value of 3,072 MB to qualify a system as having 3 GB ofRAM.

Recent software improvements have increased resource capacity requirements. HP stronglyrecommends the 64-bit editions of Windows and 4 GB or more of RAM for productionHP Web Jetadmin installations.

Storage requirements vary depending on the implementation, database, and migration from olderversions.

NTFS is the only supported file system. If the HP Web Jetadmin installer determines that less than 1 GB of RAM is installed, the installer

displays a message stating that 3 GB of RAM is required.

Client Hardware

HP recommends the following client hardware configuration:

PC with 2.4 GHz processor 64-bit system with 4 GB of RAM .NET Framework 3.51 SP1 Client display with a minimum resolution of 1024 by 768

Database

HP recommends the following databases:

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard, Workgroup, or Enterprise EditionsNotes

The HP Web Jetadmin 64-bit installation package contains and deploys Microsoft SQL Server2008 Express Edition. The 32-bit installation package contains and deploys Microsoft SQL Server2005 Express Edition.

You can install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 on 64-bit operating systems and also as a customerdatabase platform.

If Microsoft SQL Express Edition is not present, the HP Web Jetadmin installer adds it during theinstallation.

The HP Web Jetadmin installer creates the Microsoft SQL Express Edition database instance andsets the Microsoft SQL memory usage to 512 MB during the installation.

HP Web Jetadmin supports Microsoft SQL Enterprise, Workgroup, and Standard Editions via apost-installation procedure. For instructions, go to www.hp.com/go/wja, click the Self Help andDocumentation tab, and then click the Using SQL Server with HP Web Jetadmin link.

Off-host Microsoft SQL server connectivity from HP Web Jetadmin is available by installing anoptional license. For more information, go to www.hp.com/go/wja, and then click the ExtendedModules tab.

Network

The HP Web Jetadmin installer requires one active IPv4 connection. If an active IPv4 connection is notavailable, the installer fails.

Installation and Upgrades

Administrator access is required to install HP Web Jetadmin.

You can no longer upgrade from HP Web Jetadmin 10.0 to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2. In the near future,HP will no longer support upgrading from HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

Client Application

The HP Web Jetadmin client application requires the following:

Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, or 9 Display with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768Notes

Internet Explorer is required to start the HP Web Jetadmin client application. For browserrequirements and limitations, see the support documentation for the Windows operating systemyou are using.

Administrator access is not required to run the HP Web Jetadmin client application. A maximum of 15 concurrent client sessions are allowed.

Shared Print Queues

To create shared print queues, HP Web Jetadmin requires Windows XP Professional or WindowsServer 2003.

Print queue creation and print path management are not supported from Microsoft Windows Vista,Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 64-bit, and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 systems thateither run HP Web Jetadmin or function as a print queue management server.

Supported Devices

HP Web Jetadmin supports HP and third-party devices that are connected through HP Jetdirect printservers. HP Web Jetadmin also supports third-party devices that are standard printer MIB-compliant andare connected to the network. For third-party devices, HP Web Jetadmin provides basic capabilities aswell as more robust capabilities when the devices are used with HP-certified HP Web Jetadmin plug-ins.

Host Access

For the application host, local administrator access is required to install or upgrade HP Web Jetadmin.

For the client host, local user access is required to access the HP Web Jetadmin client application andadministrator access is required to install .NET Framework.

Client/Server Security

Microsoft domain or locally managed Windows users and passwords are required.


Notes

HP Web Jetadmin is tested in Microsoft Active Directory domains. Users must be a member of an HP Web Jetadmin server administrator group or designated as one

of the following in the HP Web Jetadmin User settings:

PortsHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 listens on several ports continuously and opens other ports for specificfunctionality. Below are the ports used by the system hosting HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 and also remoteports:

69 UDP I TFTP Incoming Port: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port as a staging areafor firmware images during HP Jetdirect firmware updates. ThroughSNMP, HP Web Jetadmin triggers HP Jetdirect to retrieve firmwarethrough this port.

80 TCP O HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to qualify the link to the EmbeddedWeb Server on the device.

161 UDP O SNMP: HP Web Jetadmin and other management applications useSNMP to communicate with and manage devices. HP Web Jetadminuses this port on the printer to issue Set and Get commands to theSNMP agent.

427 UDP I SLP Listen: HP Jetdirect-connected devices use Service Location Protocol(SLP) to advertise their existence. When the passive SLP discoveryfeature is enabled on HP Web Jetadmin, devices send multicast packetsto this port on the HP Web Jetadmin server.

445 UDP O WMI Communication: Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) isa protocol on Microsoft Windows hosts. HP Web Jetadmin uses WMIto detect the presence of a printer on the Windows host. This is one ofthe ports on the Windows host that WMI uses to allow communicationfrom outside servers, including servers running HP Web Jetadmin.

843 TCP O HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to configure some settings, such as faxand digital sending, on some HP MFP device models.

1434 UDP O Microsoft SQL Server: By default, HP Web Jetadmin installs the SQLServer database on the same host. Optionally, you can configureHP Web Jetadmin to communicate with a SQL Server database on adifferent host. HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to facilitatecommunication with a remote SQL Server database.

2493 UDP I/O Build Monitor: This is an HP Web Jetadmin server port that is keptopen. Other HP Web Jetadmin servers use this port to discover runninginstances of HP Web Jetadmin.

3702 UDP O WS Discovery: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to perform a WebServices discovery on newer HP devices.

3910 TCP O WS Discovery: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to retrieve details aboutthe device Web Services during a discovery. HP Web Jetadmin usesthese details to establish the WS communication paths that it needs tomanage devices.

4088 TCP I Remoting: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port as the primarycommunication channel between a started HP Web Jetadmin client andits corresponding HP Web Jetadmin server.

4089 TCP I Client Event Notification: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port tocommunicate change events from the HP Web Jetadmin server to theclient. These events trigger the client to pull updates from the serverthrough the Remoting interface. In previous releases ofHP Web Jetadmin, Windows assigned this port.

7627 TCP O Web Services (HTTPS): HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to managecommunications on some newer HP devices. The HPWSProAdapterService, which is an additional service that the HP Web Jetadminsoftware launches, opens this port.

8000 UDP O HP Web Jetadmin Discovery Listen: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port onremote IP hosts to detect earlier versions of the HP Web Jetadminsoftware.

8000 TCP I Web Server: HP Web Jetadmin provides an HTTP listener for the initialclient launch, Help content, and device file transfer operations.

8050 TCP I Device Eventing Callback (HTTPS): Newer HP devices use a WSeventing protocol for management communications.

8140 TCP I OXPm Web Services (HTTP): This is the communication port forHP Open Extensibility Platform (management operations).

8143 TCP I OXPm Web Services (HTTPS): This is a secure communication port forHP Open Extensibility Platform (management operations).

8443 TCP I Secure Web Server (HTTPS): HP Web Jetadmin provides a secureHTTPS listener for the initial client launch, Help content, and device filetransfer operations.

9100 TCP O Printer Firmware Upgrade and Test File Operation: HP Web Jetadminuses this printer port to transfer printer firmware files, test job files, andPJL configuration files.

27892 UDP I Traps Listener: HP Web Jetadmin uses this port for SNMP-based alertsand for By User Data Collections.

27893 UDP I WS Hello Listener: HP Web Jetadmin monitors this port for incomingWS Hello packets from the HP WS Pro Proxy Agent software installedon hosts in the enterprise. After HP Web Jetadmin detects a packet, itfollows up to determine if there are any discoverable printers on thesending host. For more information, see the HP Web Jetadmin ProxyAgents Readme, which is available on the Self Help andDocumentation tab at www.hp.com/go/wja.

59113 TCP O Microsoft SQL Server: By default, HP Web Jetadmin installs the SQLServer database on the same host. Optionally, you can configureHP Web Jetadmin to communicate with a SQL Server database on adifferent host. HP Web Jetadmin uses this port to facilitatecommunication with a remote SQL Server database.

NOTE: The I/O column represents the communication direction with respect to the HP Web Jetadminserver host. HP Web Jetadmin uses random source ports when communicating with ports on remote IPaddresses.

NOTE: HP Web Jetadmin uses ports 7627, 3702, and 3910 internally to communicate with devices.These ports must be kept open for communication directly with the device and with the internalHPWSProAdapter Service to ensure proper communication.

Steps to Install HP Web Jetadmin 10.2To begin the installation, follow these steps:

1. Access http://www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin to get the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 software.

2. Run wjasetup.exe.3. Follow the instructions as each page is displayed.

4. When the installation is complete, click Close.

Installing HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 from a CommandLine or Script

Uninstalling from the Command Line Usage Examples Using Blocking ModeYou can install HP Web Jetadmin from a command line, through a script, or through an automatedprocess. The following is the command syntax:

WjaSetup.exe [/L""] [/S /v/qn] The following are the command-line parameters:

/L""Specifies the ID of the language the installer uses (Optional). If the language dialog is enabledand you specify a valid language ID, the installer automatically suppresses the language dialog. Ifyou specify an invalid language ID or a language ID that the installer does not support, theinstaller ignores this parameter.

The following are the language IDs. The default is the local system language.

/V"[Property1=Value1] [Property2=Value2] [...]"Specifies a list of properties the installer uses (Required). The following are the properties andvalues.

Property and Value Description

WJA_EULA=ACCEPT | REJECT Specifies whether you accept or reject the HP Web Jetadmin End UserLicense Agreement. This property is required for silent installations.

WJA_BACKUP_CONFIRM=YES | NO Specifies whether an HP Web Jetadmin backup was performed prior tothe installation. This property is required for upgrade installations.

WJA_SUPPLY_GROUP_REMOVAL_CONFIRM=YES | NO

Specifies whether existing Supplies Groups are removed. This propertyis required when upgrading from all versions of HP Web Jetadmin10.1 and earlier. Specifying YES confirms that you understand andagree that all Supplies Groups functionality as well as existing groupswill be removed during the installation. Specifying NO causes theinstallation to terminate and end without the software being installed. InHP Web Jetadmin 10.2, the Supplies Groups functionality wasremoved as a product feature. Regular device groups will not beremoved or altered during the installation.



WJA_COLUMN_CONFIRM=YES | NO Specifies whether column data is upgraded, which might affect filters,groups with filters, and device list exporting. This property is requiredfor silent upgrade installations prior to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 ServiceRelease 5.

WJA_SKIP_DB_INSTALL=1 | 0 Specifies whether the database installation is skipped. To skip thedatabase installation, specify 1. This property is only required if youwant the installer to skip the database installation

INSTALLDIR=\"\" Specifies the HP Web Jetadmin installation path. The default is%ProgramFiles%\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\. This property isoptional for silent installations.

The path must be enclosed with \". In addition, the propertiesspecified for the /V option must be enclosed with quotes. The followingis an example of the correct syntax:

/V"WJA_EULA=ACCEPT INSTALLDIR=\"D:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP Web Jetadmin 10\""

CAUTION: If the path contains spaces and is not enclosed with \",the installer fails.

DATABASEDIR=\"\" Specifies the database installation path. The default is %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\. This property is optional for silent installations.

If the directory name contains spaces, you must use the Windows short-path notation. To find the short-path notation, issue the followingcommand: Dir *. /x

The path must be enclosed with \". In addition, the propertiesspecified for the /V option must be enclosed with quotes.

The following are examples of the correct syntax:

/V"WJA_EULA=ACCEPT DATABASEDIR=\"D:\SQLServer \""

Uninstalling from the Command Line

You can uninstall HP Web Jetadmin from the command line. The following is the command syntax:

Usage Examples

Using Blocking Mode

You can run a silent installation or uninstallation from the command line in blocking mode. Thefollowing is the command syntax:

HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software: Attach to an off-server SQL Server Enterprise Farm to create a basic mirrored database that

database management administrators can manage.

Get access to device list and historical trend data via the direct database warehouse. Report fleet-wide and device-specific performance data, as well as tracking and trending over

time, utilizing industry standard reporting software like SAP Crystal Reports software.

HP Eco Solutions Reports based on Crystal Reports 2008 include: Device Settings andCapabilities, Copy/Digital Send Capabilities Exception, Device Paper Usageand Digital Processing, and Top 5 Paper Usage (Crystal Reports available from SAP).

This module is offered for free via a license. Contact your local sales representative for moreinformation.

Obtaining and Using a LicenseFor more expanded features, you can obtain HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Extended Modules. After youobtain a license, you need to register that license to get access to these additional features. Following are steps to register and use your license.

1. On the same machine as your HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server, access the Webware URL(https://www.webware.hp.com) and click Generate.

2. Type the invoice number in Order number and click Next.

3. Select the product for the license.

4. Enter the IP address. Click Next.

5. Accept the terms and conditions by clicking Accept.

6. Complete the Member sign-in page and click Next.

7. Complete the License Registration page and click Next.

8. A license number will be returned. Copy that license number using Ctrl-C.

9. In Start > Programs (or All Programs), access the HP Web Jetadmin program group andselect HP Web Jetadmin License Manager.

10. Click Add. The Enter License page is displayed.

11. Paste the license number into License Key and click Apply. Your license will be loaded and youcan use the expanded version of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

12. Restart the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service (HPWJA Service).


Upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 from HP WebJetadmin 10.1

You can upgrade to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 from a system that is already running HP Web Jetadmin10.1. Obtain the HP Web Jetadmin installation executable and run it on the system hosting HP WebJetadmin. Upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 through Product Update is not possible; the installexecutable must be used.

IMPORTANT: You must run a backup of your HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 installation before proceedingwith the upgrade. Consult the document WJABackupRestoreInstructions.txt (available in English only)located at %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\WJABackupRestore onthe HP Web Jetadmin server. The version of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 should also be noted at this time.From the HP Web Jetadmin client, access Help > About and write down the version as 10.2.xxxxwhere xxxxx is the build number. This is the version of the installer you will need to have in case arecovery becomes necessary.

NOTE: Prior to installing HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 over a running HP Web Jetadmin installation, useApplication Management > Overview > HP Web Jetadmin All Active Tasks to detectany paused or pending tasks. These should be stopped or resolved before running the installer.

Upgrading Configuration Settings

When you upgrade from HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2, some of the configurationoptions in HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 are not compatible with the new versions of the options in HP WebJetadmin 10.2 and cannot be converted automatically. If any of these particular configuration optionswere used in templates for Configuration or in scheduled configuration tasks, then they will be deletedfrom the template or task.

Following is a list of the configuration options that will not be upgraded from HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 toHP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

For example, in HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 you had a Configuration Template with threeconfiguration options: SNMP Trap Destination Table, Control Panel Language, and AutoContinue. After upgrading from HP Web Jetadmin 10.1 to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2, this templatewould only contain Auto Continue, as the other two configuration options are incompatible.

If this dialog box is displayed, follow these steps:

1. Either copy the information listed and paste it into a word processor, or make sure you can view itlater in the Application Log.

2. Select whether to let this dialog appear again for other clients, or dismiss it forever.

NOTE: After this dialog box is dismissed by selecting Do not show again, you must accessthe Application Log to retrieve this information if you did not copy it.

3. Access each of the configuration templates or tasks containing a configuration option that was notupgraded and add that configuration option again.

Post-Installation ActionsNOTE: The HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server will start automatically as a Microsoft Service. TheHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server cannot accept HP Web Jetadmin client connections until the HP WebJetadmin server has fully loaded all services into memory. Dependent upon your HP Web Jetadminserver available system resources, it may take 1-2 minutes for all services to completely load after initialserver installation or server reboot.


The first time you launch HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 after installation, a pop-up dialog is displayed statingthat no devices have been discovered. You can opt to launch discovery settings at this point.

Once the installation is complete, HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 can be launched from a supported browserby entering the hostname or IP address of the computer on which it is installed, followed by the portnumber and path. Typical default port numbers for Web services have a value of 80. Since HP WebJetadmin 10.2 may be running simultaneously with another Web service on the same computer,HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 uses a port number of 8000. If desired, the port value may be altered.

Here is an example of the URL used to activate HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 on a supported Windowsdesktop:

This is particularly important in the case of a remote database connection, because theservice will not be able to operate at all until a remote database connection is made.

Configuring the HP Web Jetadmin Service to Restart Automatically

It is recommended to configure HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 to restart automatically whenever the HP WebJetadmin service fails. If, for example, the database is inaccessible, the HP Web Jetadmin service willbe stopped and then automatically restarted. The HP Web Jetadmin service will wait for the databaseto become accessible and then the HP Web Jetadmin service becomes live.

To configure the HP Web Jetadmin service to restart automatically, follow these steps.

1. Access the Windows Control Panel and select Administrative Tools.

2. Select Services and then select HPWJA Service.

3. Right-click and select Properties from the menu.

4. Click the Recovery tab. For the First failure, Second failure, and Subsequent failures,select Restart the service.

5. Click OK.

NOTE: As of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service Release 5, HP Web Jetadmin installs an additionalservice named HPWSProAdapter. The HPWSProAdapter service facilitates communication with certainHP printer models and should be left running. You must also perform these steps for theHPWSProAdapter service.

Restarting the HP Web Jetadmin Service Manually

It may be necessary to stop and restart the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 service. An example of this wouldbe when a network is switched from hard-wired to wireless. Once the network is switched, HP WebJetadmin 10.2 must be restarted in order for the application to realize the change.

WARNING! Restarting HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 services may interrupt background tasks and usersessions. Always check the application before restarting.

To script the stop of all HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 services, use these command strings in this order:

2. Use Windows Service Manager to set the older HP Web Jetadmin service (listed as HP WebJetadmin in the Services MMC) to activate and to also start the service.

Implementing SSL Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Important Points to Remember When Implementing SSL Steps to Configure HTTPS (Server Certificates or SSL)The HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 HTTP service runs without certificates until you add one. After a certificateis added, the HTTP server is running in HTTPS mode, which means that secure sockets layer (SSL)communication is enforced. This is a mode in which the user and the HTTP server are authenticated toone another and in which the traffic between the two is encrypted. This adds an extra layer of securityto the Smart Client download and other HTTP transactions (Smart Client Deployment on page 20).

HP Web Jetadmin does not self-generate certificates. You must obtain a certificate from a certificateauthority (CA). CAs can exist inside or outside of an organization. Many companies have their ownCAs. The HP Web Jetadmin Signing Request feature generates a file that you can send to the CA.When the CA sends you a certificate, use the Install Certificate feature to enable HTTPS.

CAUTION: As of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service Release 7, you can install only 2048-bit servercertificates. Any 1024-bit server certificates installed prior to upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2Service Release 7 will continue to function correctly.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)

HP Web Jetadmin administrators enable SSL by adding a certificate to the HP Web Jetadminapplication. This certificate forces the browser to use the more secure HTTPS protocol when a useraccesses the client logon page. The administrator must enable SSL from the console or host that runs theapplication by using the procedure in Steps to Configure HTTPS (Server Certificates or SSL)on page 20. When a remote administrator accesses Tools > Options > Shared > Network >HTTPS, a message appears stating that certificates can only be installed from an HP Web Jetadminclient that runs on the console or server that hosts HP Web Jetadmin.

In some environments, SSL is required anytime an HTTP interface or service is being used forcommunication. In these cases, SSL can be enabled and enforced by HP Web Jetadmin 10.2. SSL


provides a good deal of assurance in both authentication and encryption aspects of HTTPcommunication. That is, the user requesting access to the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Smart Clientdownload can be reasonably assured that the system hosting HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 is authentic andthe communication between the two systems is encrypted so that it cannot be easily read byeavesdroppers (Smart Client Deployment on page 20).

The SSL protocol uses certificates to accommodate both authentication and encryption. HP WebJetadmin 10.2 can generate a signing request that can be used by a certificate authority (CA) togenerate a certificate. Using Tools > Options > Shared > Network > HTTPS, the user cangenerate a Signing Request.

Once the request has been fulfilled by the CA, the certificate is ready to be installed on HP WebJetadmin 10.2. Remember, you must be at the application console to use Tools > Options >Shared > Network > HTTPS. Use Install Certificate to browse and upload the certificate file.

Once the certificate is installed, the HTTP service enforces SSL. Any browser contact with HP WebJetadmin 10.2 should indicate HTTPS on the URL when a certificate is installed. Using RemoveCertificate uninstalls the certificate and SSL is no longer enforced.

Important Points to Remember When Implementing SSL

Client communication with SSL enforced requires one or more of the following considerations.

As of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service Release 7, you can install only 2048-bit server certificates.Any 1024-bit server certificates installed prior to upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 ServiceRelease 7 will continue to function correctly.

When SSL has been implemented on HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 with an internal certificate authority(CA), the CAs authorizing certificate must be installed in the client browser. If this certificate is notinstalled in the client browser the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Smart Client page will fail to load up inSSL mode.

Proxy servers tend to use the standard SSL port 443. If the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Smart Clientpage is being called through a proxy server, a redirect error may occur. This is due to the URLbeing redirected to 443 rather than 8443 which is the port used by the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2SSL. The workaround for this is to place the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 fully qualified domain name(FQDN) into the browsers exceptions list under Tools > Internet Options > Connections >LAN Settings > Advanced. This causes the browser to pull HTTP and HTTPS content directlyfrom the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server.

NOTE: HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 HTTP and HTTPS port numbers can be customized to somethingother than 8000 and 8443.

When you have implemented SSL on HP Web Jetadmin 10.2, a redirect occurs when the browserURL uses port 8000. Here is an example:

The known URL prior to SSL implementation is http://servername.domain.xxx:8000.After SSL implementation, HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 will redirect this to a new URL: https://servername.domain.xxx:8443.The URLs shown here use FQDN. In most cases the certificate issued and installed in the HP WebJetadmin 10.2 SSL implementation will contain an FQDN for the host on which HP Web Jetadmin10.2 is installed. If a non FQDN is used in the browser, certificate failure will occur. As a general

rule, form the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 URL with FQDN when HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 isimplemented with SSL.

To configure HTTPS, access Tools > Options > Shared > Network > HTTPS.

Steps to Configure HTTPS (Server Certificates or SSL)

NOTE: When using the HP Web Jetadmin client to install a certificate on a Vista host with UACenabled, you must launch the client from the installer (just after install is finished and from the checkboxthat enables client launch) or from an IE that was Run as Administrator.

CAUTION: As of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service Release 7, you can install only 2048-bit servercertificates. Any 1024-bit server certificates installed prior to upgrading to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2Service Release 7 will continue to function correctly.

1. To configure HTTPS, access Tools > Options > Shared > Network > HTTPS.

2. To associate a certificate with the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server and enable HTTPS, select InstallCertificate.

To remove the installed certificate from the server and disable HTTPS, select RemoveCertificate.

To generate a certificate request that can be sent to a signing authority to generate a certificatethat can be installed to enable HTTPS, select Signing Request.

3. To save these settings and continue setting other options, click Apply. Then click the next optionto configure in the left menu bar. To save these settings and close this window, click OK.

Smart Client DeploymentHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 uses the Microsoft ClickOnce Smart Client technology to provide you with thebest application experience possible. This technology runs a .NET application by automaticallydownloading and launching it through your web browser. The Smart Client runs as a local .NETapplication on your computing host and communicates with the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 servicevia .NET Remoting. Once the Smart Client application is started, the browser is no longer needed.HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 also uses the browser for online help and proactive Product Update notificationbut, essentially, the client application runs locally on your computer (like many other applications). Withthis, the URL form http://hostname:8000 can be used to access HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 remotelyfrom anywhere on your intranet and/or WAN.

When the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 installer builds the shortcut on the install host (DRIVE:\Documentsand Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\HP Web Jetadmin 10\) it uses thedefault port number 8000 in the item URL. You can modify this if the port number of the HP WebJetadmin URL is altered. Simply change the URL http://localhost:8000 to http://localhost:xxxx where xxxx is the value of the new port number being used.Modification of the HTTP port used to launch the HP Web Jetadmin Smart Client is possible through aconfiguration file change. The default port numbers are 8000 for HTTP and 8443 for HTTPS. Portnumbering is changed through a configuration file found on the HP Web Jetadmin directory:

All that is needed to start the Smart Client session is a browser. Administrator rights are not required torun Smart Client applications but .NET 2.0 is required to be installed; local administrator rights mightbe required prior to the installation.

Some characteristics about Smart Client are:

The HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 server is initially contacted through http/https. The server transfers about 2 MB of Smart Client application to the client where it is saved to disk

and runs as the user logged onto the computer.

The Smart Client application, running on the client, executes commands to download the HP WebJetadmin 10.2 client files (about 50 MB) and starts UIExec.exe (browser is now inactive).

UIExec.exe runs and opens the graphical user interface (the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 clientapplication).

The server downloads all relevant information to the client and then periodically pings the clientwhen new information exists for retrieval.

NOTE: In most cases, the Smart Client will auto-launch; in some cases local security settings on theworkstation may prevent the application from auto-launching. Use the Start HP Web Jetadminbutton to manually launch the Smart Client or refer to Microsoft documentation to adjust local securitysettings.

To run the Smart Client in a workgroup on Microsoft Windows XP, you need to adjust the Microsoftsecurity settings:

1. Access the Control Panel on the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 host computer and go toAdministrative Tools > Local Security Policy.

2. Go to Local Policies > Security Options.

3. Locate the item Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts.

4. Change the setting to Classic - local users authenticate as themselves.

To ensure this feature works properly, see System Requirements on page 2.

Alternate Log-in

In some cases, the client host and the server hosting HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 may not reside on thesame Windows security domain or may not reside on any Windows security domain. Since the releaseof HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 an alternate log-in prompt is provided so that you can enter log-incredentials other than those being used by the current Windows session. Normally, HP Web Jetadminuses single sign-on functionality to pass the user identity, currently logged into the local desktopWindows session, onto HP Web Jetadmin. HP Web Jetadmin checks this identity either through localWindows users at the server host or through Windows security domain identities. When HP WebJetadmin fails to authenticate this identity (for any reason) it will display the alternate log-in prompt.

The alternate log-in prompt is handy for a variety of use-cases. For example:

An HP Web Jetadmin authorized user is accessing software from another unauthorized personsdesktop.

An HP Web Jetadmin server is on a security domain but end-user desktops are not; end users dohave log-in identities within this domain that have been given access rights within HP WebJetadmin Users and Roles.

Steps for Using Smart Client

Once the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 installation is complete, a Smart Client session can be started in oneof two ways:

1. Look in the Start > Programs (or All Programs) group on the computing host where HP WebJetadmin 10.2 was installed. A program group named HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 should have beencreated and should contain a shortcut to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 software. This launches abrowser session that starts a Smart Client session with HP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

2. Browse to the following URL at the computing host: http://localhost:8000. This alsolaunches a browser session that starts a Smart Client session.

NOTE: In some cases (for example, Windows Server 2003), the URL of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2might have to be added to browser trusted security zones.

Configuring HP Web Jetadmin to Bind to a Specific NIC

HP Web Jetadmin Client Connection HP Web Jetadmin Alerts and SNMP Traps Registration HP Web Jetadmin Web ServiceHP Web Jetadmin can run on a multi-homed server or on a server that has multiple network interfaces.In many cases, a multi-homed server is connected to more than one network and has multiple IPaddresses. A multi-homed server with multiple IP addresses can cause problems becauseHP Web Jetadmin tends to use only one address for various reasons.

HP Web Jetadmin is a collection of features that administrators can use to manage devices. Each ofthese features might require communications on the network or convey the IP address through whichcommunications should take place to other features either on or off the HP Web Jetadmin server. Thesefeatures facilitate learning the HP Web Jetadmin server IP address when the HPWJA service starts.These features do so in isolation and might not select the correct IP address. The following sections


describe situations where features might not detect and select the correct IP address and provide aworkaround that forces HP Web Jetadmin to select the correct IP address.

HP Web Jetadmin Client Connection

The HP Web Jetadmin client startup is initiated through HTTP by using Internet Explorer. Immediatelyafter the startup sequence, the HP Web Jetadmin client sends the client host an HTTP message thatpoints to a .NET remote connection. The client host then initiates a relatively secure connection to theHP Web Jetadmin server based on this communication. If the HP Web Jetadmin server is multi-homedand the HPWJA service selects the wrong IP address, this .NET remote connection fails because thesystem that hosts the client cannot communicate through the IP address provided. Follow these steps toforce the HPWJA service to use the correct IP address:

1. Stop the HPWJA service by using Windows Service Manager.

NOTE: Be careful when stopping the HPWJA service. There might be critical tasks running. Toview the running tasks in HP Web Jetadmin, go to Application Management > Overview >Application Management - Active Tasks. To view the client logins in HP Web Jetadmin, goto Application Management > Overview > Client Management - Active Clients.

2. Use Notepad or a similar editor to open the c:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin10\config\WjaService\System.Remoting.config file.

NOTE: Make sure that Notepad is running with sufficient privileges to update and save the file.

3. Find the following code in the System.Remoting.config file:

4. Add the machineName="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" entry, changing the value to the IP address of theHP Web Jetadmin server that facilitates client communication. The following is an example of theedited code:

5. Close and save the file.

6. Start the HPWJA service by using Windows Service Manager.


The client log-in should not fail now.

HP Web Jetadmin Alerts and SNMP Traps Registration

NOTE: This workaround is available only in HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 Service Release 5 and later. Thisfunctionality did not exist prior to Service Release 5 (release date February 2011).

In rare cases, HP Web Jetadmin detects and uses an incorrect IP address for SNMP traps registration atthe device. When HP Web Jetadmin alert subscriptions are created, HP Web Jetadmin registers its IPaddress in the SNMP traps destination table on the HP device. This registration causes the device tosend a notification in the form of SNMP trap packets back to the HP Web Jetadmin server.HP Web Jetadmin uses these notifications to trigger alerts for device conditions such as toner out orpaper jam.

If an HP Web Jetadmin instance on a multi-homed server populates the SNMP traps destination tablewith the incorrect IP address, follow these steps to force HP Web Jetadmin to select and use the correctIP address:



2. Open Notepad or a similar text editor that has the appropriate create and edit permissions.

3. Enter the following text:

4. Change the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx entry to the correct HP Web Jetadmin serverIP address through which the device can communicate.

5. Select File > Save As.

6. In the Save as window, navigate to one of the following paths on the HP Web Jetadmin serverhost:

HP Web Jetadmin now uses the IP address specified during SNMP traps registration. You must updateany SNMP traps registrations created prior to this procedure by using the HP Web JetadminConfiguration feature or by creating additional alerts subscriptions.

HP Web Jetadmin Web Service

The HP Web Jetadmin web or HTTP service uses the server IP addresses for various reasons, includingcommunicating with other processes, nodes, services, and the IP address of the actual HTTP server. Inrare cases, HP Web Jetadmin detects the incorrect IP address on multi-homed systems. A configurationfile that includes the HP Web Jetadmin IP address is built during the first HPWJA service startup. Followthese steps to correct the IP address value in the configuration file:



2. Open Notepad or a similar text editor that has the appropriate create and edit permissions.

3. Select File > Open.

4. Navigate to one of the following files:

5. Open the HP.Imaging.Wjp.Core.WebServer.config.xml file.

6. Find the following portion of the file:

HP.Imaging.Wjp.Sdk.Core.Framework.ConfigurationItemString xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

7. Change the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx entry to the correct server IP address.


8. Select File > Save.

9. Start the HPWJA service by using Windows Service Control Manager.

HP Web Jetadmin now uses the specified IP address with reference to the HTTP or web services.

Configuring HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 to Set Static Event NotificationPort

If there is a firewall on the HP Web Jetadmin server, the event notification port must be set to staticand the firewall must be configured to accept connections through this port. Even though a client mighthave a firewall, that client firewall does not have to be configured in order to launch the client.

HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 directs clients to a TCP connection to get display event update notifications.When the client has established this connection, HP Web Jetadmin will send event update messagesprompting the client to update itself via the normal .NET Remoting channel on port number 4088. Theport number established for event update notification is communicated to the client when the client firstestablishes a connection to the HP Web Jetadmin server. The port number that HP Web Jetadmincommunicates is somewhat random which can be a problem when a firewall is configured at theHP Web Jetadmin server.

HP Web Jetadmin can use a static port number for the purpose of sending client event updatemessages. Follow these steps including restarting the HP Web Jetadmin service.

WARNING! Restarting the HP Web Jetadmin service can cause critical process interruption. Pleaseensure all users are logged off and that no active tasks are running on the HP Web Jetadmin server.Use the Client Management Active Clients and Application Management Active Taskstask modules in Application Management to check the HP Web Jetadmin server.

1. Using Notepad, create a new file on the HP Web Jetadmin server:

DRIVE:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\HPWebJetadmin\WjaService\config\Global.config.xml

2. Edit the file so that it contains the following addition XML section:

HP.Imaging.Wjp.Sdk.Core.Framework.ConfigurationItemString 8099

NOTE: The port number within can be any unused port number value. In this case, Port8099 was used for illustrative purposes.

3. Save the file.

4. Restart the HP Web Jetadmin service (HPWJAService).

5. Open the port number on any firewall or similar application.


About Firewall Software

HP Web Jetadmin server host firewall must be configured to allow client and other traffic to passthrough the correct ports. See the Ports section (Ports on page 7) to configure your firewall correctly.Some firewall applications allow you to specify the program or executable as a firewall exception.Microsofts Firewall is one of these. The firewall monitors the application for ports that it is using andallows traffic. In these cases, use the executable hpwebjetadmin.exe found in Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\bin as the exception application. Firewall software onthe client system should not require any special consideration as the client application does not listento a specific port number.

Recommended Configuration Settings for HP WebJetadmin 10.2

Once HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 is installed, it is ready to run. Some of the initial steps you must take tobegin managing devices and the print environment are: application settings, discovery and variousfeatures setup. Here are a few simple ideas around deploying HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 once aninstallation has been completed. It may be necessary to use online help for HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 orother documentation.

Application settings are options like email, SNMP, server, or HTTP. These are found in Tools >Options from the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 toolbar and then navigating the ApplicationManagement category.

HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 is used to find devices on your networks. It may be as simple as enablingHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 to simply listen for devices on the network passively or it may involve yourworking with an IT team to map out your entire IP network. Once this network map is known, IPsegments can be entered into HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 IP Range discovery and a complete inventory ofnetwork connected devices can be completed. PC connected device discovery is also possible fromwithin HP Web Jetadmin 10.2. Many of the same settings and techniques can be used to perform thistype of discovery which can lead to an inventory of locally connected devices. HP Web Jetadmin 10.2online help or other documentation should be consulted prior to planning and implementing HP WebJetadmin 10.2 device discovery.

Feature setups such as Roles (or permissions), Users, Alerts (for devices, and Device Groups, all need tobe configured prior to the initial HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 implementation. Many of these features weredescribed in previous sections here and are discussed in more detail within the online help for HP WebJetadmin 10.2 and other documentation prior to configuration.

Using a Separate Instance of Microsoft SQL Server2005

HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 installs and uses by default a database running under Microsoft SQL Express.However, it may be more convenient for HP Web Jetadmin to use MS SQL Server 2005 instead since itmay already be installed, or the SQL Express 4GB database limitation may be too restricting.Fortunately, an existing installation of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 can be configured to use MS SQL Server2005 instead of SQL Express. For the standard version of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2, as long as SQLServer 2005 resides on the same machine, HP Web Jetadmin can be instructed to use a differentdatabase instance under MS SQL Server 2005.

HP Web Jetadmin Extended Modules are available for attaching to a different instance of MicrosoftSQL Server 2005 on a remote host. This feature requires an HP Web Jetadmin license to be installed inorder to expose the functionality. You will only see an Extended Modules feature if that module hasbeen enabled by installing a license. HP Eco Solutions ReportsHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 collects data from networked devices to provide you with details about yourorganization's printing practices. This information enables you to track printing and manage devicesettings to help improve environmental performance. The optional HP Web Jetadmin DatabaseConnectivity Module Software is an extension to HP Web Jetadmin that provides the ability to useSQL Server Production databases, access to this database of information, and the ability to run a rangeof intuitive HP Eco Solutions reports to measure printing along key environmental metrics. The HP WebJetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software is a single solution that helps you toevaluate your environment and take action to reduce both the cost and environmental impact of officeprinting.

NOTE: If you have the HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software, youcan use the default SQL Server Express database or the SQL Server Enterprise database. This does notrequire a separate SQL database.

The HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software provides you:

The ability to use an external SQL Server Production database. Access to the Direct Database Warehouse. HP Eco Solutions Reports (bases on SAP Crystal Reports 2008).The HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software is installed and locked witha license when you install the latest version of HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 (dated September 2009 or after)(see Obtaining and Using a License on page 14). Then, you must contact your HP sales representativefor the free license and for the HP Eco Solutions reports and order number. You can also accesshttp://www.hp.com/go/webjetadmin and click on the Features and Overview tab to send arequest to [email protected]. You will receive a zip file with the reports.

The HP Eco Solutions reports are pre-configured SAP Crystal Reports 2008 that let you view yourenvironmental settings of your systems. Powersave-capable devices: devices that have this energy-efficient capability. Highlights your potential to furtherdecrease energy consumption.

Powersave-enabled devices: Percentage of devices withPowersave capability that have Powersave featuresenabled, listed by individual device status. Shows untappedpotential to decrease energy consumption by enablingPowersave on capable devices.

Average time to sleep: average of time to sleep settingsacross a selected group, in minutes. Shorter time to sleepsettings will reduce energy consumed by moving devicesout of higher energy states, such as ready mode.

Copy/Digital SendCapabilities Exception

Reports devices withoutcopy or digital sendcapability; addition ofdigital send capability canenable digital, rather thanpaper-based, informationmanagement, reducingpaper consumption.

This report can help youuncover alternatives topaper based processes.Using digitally greenalternatives to printing orcopying and sharingdocuments can help yourorganization speedprocesses and decreasepaper consumption.

Device count: quantity of devices detectable by HP WebJetadmin 10.2.

Copy-capable devices: devices with copy capability; suchdevices can also scan to locally connected devices.

Digital send-capable devices: devices capable of copyingto file and copying for digital sending.


Report Description Data Included

Device Paper Usageand Digital Processing

Reports device use, showingboth paper-based anddigital informationmanagement. This allowscomparison of simplex andduplex printing, as well asthe use of digital sendcapability rather than copy.

Total count: paper throughput, in sheets. Simplex sheets: number of single-sided prints. Duplex sheets: number of sheets of paper printed in duplex

(double-sided) mode; includes sheets printed on one sidewhile the device is in duplex mode.

Simplex versus duplex: percentages of one-sided and two-sided printing. A higher percentage of simplex pagesindicates potential to save paper with duplex printing.

Copy impressions: number of impressions processed incopy mode; each impression counts once, regardless ofwhether copied to a single-sided or double-sided copy.

Digital send impressions: number of impressions processedin digital send mode.

Copy versus digital send: graphs percentage of copy countand digital sends. The higher your copy percentage, thegreater your potential to save paper and reduce wastemoving to digital processes.

Paper usage (sheets)/total impressions: ratio indicatinghow much information (impressions) is managed withpaper. The lower the ratio, the more efficiently the device isbeing used (for example, less paper is used to transferinformation).

Top 5 Paper Usage Reports the printers with thegreatest paper usageamong selected groups,enabling prioritized follow-up.

Simplex count: number of single-sided prints. Duplex count: number of sheets of paper printed in duplex

(double-sided) mode; includes sheets printed on one sidewhile the device is in duplex mode.

Generating HP Eco Solutions Reports

HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 provides comprehensive information about your printer fleet and its use.HP Eco Solutions reports provide an intuitive presentation of environmentally relevant data from theHP Web Jetadmin tool, allowing IT managers to quickly assess opportunities to reduce theenvironmental impact of their organizations printing, and track progress toward green IT goals overtime.

These intuitive HP Eco Solutions reports are available only through the HP Web JetadminDatabase Connectivity Module Software which is an extension to HP Web Jetadmin 10.2.

To use the HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software for HP Eco Solutionsreports, follow these steps.

1. Obtain Crystal Reports 2008 from SAP by contacting your reseller or SAP(http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects).

2. Ensure the HP Web Jetadmin Database Connectivity Module Software is installed andenabled with a license (see Obtaining and Using a License on page 14).

3. Ensure you have the HP Eco Solutions reports (this will be provided from HP in a zip file).

4. Create a System DSN connection to the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 database (HPWJA). Followingare the steps for Windows XP.

NOTE: The following is an example of how to set up a data source through Windows ODBC.This example might not be valid depending on the version of Windows you are using. For moreinformation about Windows ODBC, see the Microsoft support documentation and resources.

a. Access Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

b. Double-click Data Sources (ODBC).

c. Navigate to the System DSN tab and click Add.

d. From the driver screen, select SQL Server and click Finish.

e. On the Create a New Data Source to SQL Server page, name your data sourceconnection (HPWJA is a useful one). Type a description if desired.

f. Under Which SQL Server do you want to connect to?, select the server name whereyour HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 database is hosted on. Click Next.

g. Leave the default setting of With Windows NT authentication using the networklogin ID. Check with your SQL server administrator for your log on credentials.

h. On the next screen, check Change the default master database to and select theHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 database. Click Next.

i. Leave the default settings on this screen and click Finish.

j. Click Test Datasource. If the test comes back successful, click OK. If the test fails, repeatthe steps to ensure you have established the correct connections.

5. Link the appropriate HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 database (HPWJA) to Crystal Reports:

NOTE: The following is an example of how to use Crystal Reports 2008. This example might notbe valid depending on the version of Crystal Reports you are using. For more information aboutthe Crystal Reports software, see the related product documentation.

a. Launch Crystal Reports 2008 through accessing Start > Crystal Reports 2008.

b. Under My Recent Reports, select Open File.

c. Select a report and click Open. The report is displayed with no data.


d. Under Database > Set Datasource Location, you will see two windows: CurrentData Source and Replace With. Each report will display the tables used from theHP Web Jetadmin 10.2 database.

e. For each table in the Current Data Source window, click it and then navigate to yourconnection in the Replace With window. Select the correct table name and click Update.When you have mapped all of the appropriate tables or views, you can refresh the report byusing the Refresh button in the toolbar or F5.

Uninstalling HP Web Jetadmin 10.2Uninstalling HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 from a computing host is quite simple. Removing HP WebJetadmin 10.2 software also removes the Microsoft SQL Express 2005 instance of HP Web Jetadmin10.2 database. Restoring the database is possible provided you have run the correct backupprocedures and have stored the files securely.

Steps to Uninstall HP Web Jetadmin 10.2

To uninstall HP Web Jetadmin 10.2, follow these steps:

1. In your Control Panel, go to Add or Remove Programs.

2. Select HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 and click Remove.

3. Follow the instructions as each page is displayed.

4. When the uninstall is complete, click Close.

5. If desired, look at the log file created in the Document and Settings folder when WjaSetup.exeruns (for example, C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp\hp\wja\Uninstaller\Uninstaller.log).

Steps to Uninstall HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 in Silent Mode

To safely remove HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 in silent mode, follow these steps:

1. To get the Uninstaller, access C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin10\Uninstaller\Uninstaller.exe.NOTE: C:\Program Files is the default location, but on any user system this could be adifferent drive and/or folder.

2. Use the -x option to extract a properties file (Uninstaller.exe -x=properties.xml).3. After manually editing the properties file, use the -v option to validate a properties file

(Uninstaller.exe -v=properties.xml).4. Use the -s option to run the Uninstaller in silent mode using the given properties.xml file

(Uninstaller.exe -s=properties.xml).

Backing Up and Restoring HP Web Jetadmin 10.2Backup and restore scripts are in the HP Web Jetadmin 10.2 install directory (usually at Drive:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Web Jetadmin 10\WJABackupRestore\). The backup and restorescripts are provided as examples that show the best way to backup and restore HP Web Jetadmin 10.2settings and data including the SQL database. The backup and restore scripts are provided withcomplete instructions in the text file WJABackupRestoreInstructions.txt that is located in the samedirectory as the scripts. Please refer to this file when using and testing the backup and restore scripts.
