• My media documentary, poster advert and radio advert all have things in common to represent that they are all related to the same documentary, Junk To Funk. Both the poster and the documentary have a matching colour scheme as they both contain the yellow colour for the title and the channel 4 logo. Straight away this shows that they are part of the same documentary as they have the same title and the same colours used. The radio advert also mentions the name of the documentary ‘Junk To Funk’ so again, the audience knows they are all linked together.

• Another way I have combined the ancillary texts together is by showing that the documentary will be shown on channel 4. The newspaper advert has the channel 4 logo and the radio advert tells the audience that it is being shown on channel 4. This clearly shows to the audience what channel the documentary will be shown on therefore helps to get more people to watch the documentary. It also shows that both adverts are related.

• The radio and the poster advert also have things in common such as the time and date. The poster the time and date written on it and the radio advert tells the audience what time and what date it will be on to make sure the two adverts relate. Again, this helps boost the audience numbers as they will be sure when the documentary will be shown.

• The radio advert and documentary are linked together as in the radio advert we used voxpops from the documentary. This gives the audience more of a feel as to what the documentary will include. It also links the advert with the documentary as it shows they are both about the same thing.

• The poster advert and documentary are also clearly related. This is because for the main image on our poster advert we chose the beginning image from the documentary and edited it. The image was a picture we took of a vintage shop, the sign outside the shop says ‘Vintage’ therefore clearly shows to the audience the documentary is about used/recycled clothing. It also links the documentary and the advert as the same image is used in both media products.

• We made sure a fairly low register was used for the voiceover in the documentary and for the radio advert without making it sound unprofessional. This is because we have targeted such a wide audience, from both younger people to older people we wanted everyone to be able to understand the language used. We used quite a fun, happy tone in both our documentary and ancillary texts. We used the bright yellow colour in the newspaper advert and documentary therefore this represents the tone as it is quite a happy colour. We used upbeat music in both the radio advert and the documentary therefore this also shows the tone as it creates a happy vibe unlike if we used dull, slow music.
