1. Scholarships for Central Texas Youth

The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, presented by H-E-B, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to produce events for education, entertainment and agricultural experiences at the premier multi-use facility while giving back through youth scholarships. Since the program began in 1991, the number of scholarships and amount given has greatly increased with $225,000 now given annually. Over $200,000 in scholarships and premiums are awarded annually through the Heart O’ Texas Livestock Show, presented by Brazos Masonry, Inc. To date, more than $2 million overall has been committed to the youth of Central Texas.

2. Economic Impact The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, presented by H-E-B, is host

to almost 200,000 attendees over 10 days providing an annual economic impact of $10 million. The Extraco Events Center’s premier facilities host over 225 events with an attendance of 420,000 and a $47 million economic impact annually.

3. Professional Rodeo

The All American ProRodeo Finals, presented by Pendleton Whisky, is the third largest PRCA championship rodeo in the U.S. and takes place during the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo every October. For seven nights, you’ll be able to see the year’s top 30 contestants in each of the seven events compete for their share of $500,000 which will be awarded on the final Saturday night.

4. Music Zone

This six-night concert series has become the place to be during the Fair & Rodeo every October! Fans experience heart pounding entertainment in an outdoor setting featuring drink specials and giveaways. The musical performances are a big part of the celebration. Join in the fun with thousands of concert-goers that come out to enjoy all that the Music Zone has to offer.

5. Livestock ShowThe Heart O’ Texas

Livestock Show, presented by Brazos Masonry, Inc., began in 1953 and has grown to be the largest livestock show in Central Texas. It draws an audience of owners, breeders, future business and agriculture leaders, and animal enthusiasts from across the state. Throughout the 10-day show that occurs during

the Fair & Rodeo every October, nearly 3900 quality cattle, hogs, sheep and goats are entered. More than 1400 students participate in the Livestock Show annually.

6. Calf Scramble

The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Calf Scramble, presented by Brazos Masonry, Inc., is not only a crowd favorite during the rodeo but it is also a significant part of our competitive events program. Each night of the rodeo 20 participants attempt to catch one of 12 calves. The participant has to catch the calf and get it in the designated area in an allotted time period to earn money for the purchase of either a heifer, lamb or swine project. The animals are raised throughout the year and brought back to be shown at the following year’s Livestock Show.

7. Creative ArtsThe Creative Arts and Education program has been an

important aspect of the Fair & Rodeo since it began in 1953. The program continues its mission to educate and involve the community in Creative Arts through demonstrations, displays and competitive events. The wide variety of activities and contests include photography, canning, art, sewing and 2013/14 Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Program Recipients2013/14 Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Program Recipients

cooking, providing professionals and amateurs of all ages a showcase for their creative skills. The committee has opened a “Country Store” that offers hand crafted/homemade items which can be purchased – all proceeds benefitting the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Fund.

8. South 40 VIP EventThe South 40 VIP Event is held on the first Friday of the

Fair & Rodeo and is considered to be one of the most popular VIP events in the area. Attendees enjoy gate admission to the Fair, parking, dinner, full open bar and a concert with the entertainment in the Music Zone on the Bud Light Music Stage that evening. Sponsorships along with event tickets are sold to raise money for the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Fund. The committee prides itself on presenting a handsome check at the end of the night to the scholarship fund.

over 500 volunteers on 24 different committees which are overseen by the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Committee Management Program, who reports to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Through the donation of time and efforts, the Committeemen are helping to promote the Fair & Rodeo, support local youth and educational programs and provide a quality, affordable entertainment experience. Together they raise over $400,000 annually for the organization.
