The first step in exhaust system tuning is an Akrapovic SLIP-ON system. We have developed an Akrapovic SLIP-ON SP SERIES exhaust system which sits beauti-fully on the back of the sporty Honda Hornet. The SLIP-ON SP SERIES system for the Honda Hornet 600 is an excellent combination of aesthetic enhancement, improved engine performance, weight savings and affordability. Beside this the system is also street legal approved. The racing reputation of our exhaust sys-tems and the naughty naked look of the Honda Hornet is still a great combination guaranteed to catch a lot of eyes.

PERFORMANCE

Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON SP SERIES system on the Honda Hornet 600 (without noise damper):

Power: when you install the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system, you let the Honda engine breathe. This can be seen clearly from the power and torque curves. The power in-crease begins already at 3000 rpm and continues to expand all the way to 13000 rpm, in the overrev range. There are no drop-outs in the power curve which would affect the fluidity of the engine performance. This speaks of the success of the design of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system. Max. power of 86 HP is delivered to the rear wheel at 11850 rpm, where we also find max. increased power.Torque: the torque curve is also a sight for sore eyes. The increase in torque again occurs throughout the entire rpm range. This gives the engine sufficient torque so that despite the racing roots of the engine, a more leisurely riding style can also be enjoyed, as well as better riding in windy conditions which the naked style of the Hornet offers.

CONFIGURATION

The Akrapovic SLIP-ON exhaust system for the Honda Hornet 600 is composed of a muffler and a conical stainless steel link pipe which is welded to the muffler, making up a single component. The connection to the stock header assembly is made with a free-floating joint, which means that you simply slip the Akrapovic component on and secure the joint with a metal clamp. The muffler is the familiar Akrapovic oval, which is available in titanium or carbon-fibre outer sleeve. All metal parts in the interior of the muffler are made of stainless steel. The muffler has a built-in noise damper, and therefore conforms to regulations for street use. The muffler is attached to the frame of the motorcycle using an Akrapovic carbon-fiber clamp, which does an excellent job of controlling vibrations. The Akrapovic SLIP-ON system also includes a specially de-signed carbon-fiber heat shield in order to protect the passenger from the increased temperature of the muffler outer sleeve while the engine is running. The heat shield fits very well both aesthetically and physically into the lines of the Hornet.
