The Akrapovic SLIP-ON exhaust system is designed for riders who want to up-grade the looks and performance of their bikes at an affordable price, without making a major modification. The Street Legal version of this system officially conforms to all exhaust system noise level regulations for street use.

PERFORMANCE

Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON system on the HONDA CBR 1000 RR (without muffler insert):

Power & Torque: Despite being an entry-level tuning component, the SLIP-ON sys-tem also offers a performance increase throughout the entire rpm range. At 11200 rpm we measured 153.2 HP. The situation for the torque curve is similar, with the best results coming in the middle of the range around 5000 rpm, where the dropout in the stock curve is filled.

CONFIGURATION

The Akrapovic SLIP-ON exhaust system is made of three basic components: a muffler and two link pipes, one of which is independent and the other welded to the muffler. The tubes for both link pipes are cylindrical and made of titanium. The independent link pipe is attached to the stock header assembly with a sleeve joint, secured with a metal clamp and a tensioning spring. The two link pipes are also connected with a sleeve joint, which is secured with a silicon-shielded spring. The muffler outer sleeve is available in either titanium or carbon fiber. The muffler is attached to the frame us-ing an Akrapovic carbon fiber clamp. The system includes a noise damper installed in the muffler, and the Street Legal version conforms to all legal requirements regarding exhaust system noise levels for street use.
