Home-School Connection Home-School Connection Dear Family Member: I’m reading Little Red Hen in class this week. I learned that we can retell a story to make sure we understand it. Little Red Hen begins when Hen asks for help to plant some wheat. Dog, Pig, and Cat do not want to help, so Little Red Hen does it herself. The friends don’t want to help water the wheat either. I wonder if they will help her do anything? I can retell the story by describing what happens in the order it happens. This Week’s Skills Comprehension: retell Phonics: the sound of e as in ten Spelling: words with e Name Word Workout WORDS TO KNOW who some of no eat Story Time Use the words to tell me a story about how bread is made. Start with a seed and end with a loaf of bread in a store. SPELLING WORDS beg get hen leg let men Rhyme Time I’m going to ask you to spell each word. Which pairs of words rhyme? Can we think of other words that rhyme with beg, get , and men ? 95 (fold here) © Macmillan/McGraw-Hill
