The history of the Girard-Perregaux Watch Company begins in 1791, when the watchmakers Bautte and Mouline founded a factory in Geneva to manufacture watches. In 1856 the watchmaker constant Girard married Marie Perregaux and the unified firm of Girard – Perregaux came into being. In 1906 Perregaux acquired the earlier firm of Bautte and Mouline, and today the firm is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds. They have always made a name for themselves in the realm of wristwatches through their unique creativity and high quality mechanisms, one of a select few who produce many of its movements entirely in-house. Today, Girard Perregaux watches are among the most expensive timepieces money can buy.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage timepiece from the firm, a men’s late 1950s Gyromatic (self-winding) model in excellent PLUS condition. This example features a 14kt solid yellow gold bezel ring and 14kt yellow gold capped lugs with stainless body and back lid, much like some Omega models of this era.
Triple-signed, its case measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (36.5mm including the original, unmarked crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by just under 1-3/8 inches in width, not counting the crown. It is powered by its original and higher grade, 17 jewel rotor automatic Girard-Perregaux mechanism that has been fully serviced by my skilled watchmaker David to ensure it is running well and keeping accurate time.
The ivory white, enamel finished dial is in flawless condition and has been professionally restored to its correct status. It features a 60 second outer track, raised gold hour markers, original gold Dauphine-style hands and a sweep original center seconds hand. Signed Girard-Perregaux below the 12 and GYROMATIC above the 6 marker. At the base of the dial it is signed SWISS.
The hardened acrylic armored crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The GP-signed case is solid stainless steel with a 14kt yellow gold bezel ring and 14 karat yellow gold “capped” faceted lugs. It is in excellent PLUS shape with absolutely no wear. The matching yellow gold

winding crown, unmarked, is 100% original. It winds and sets as it should.
Turning the watch over I see that the screw-down, stainless back lid is in excellent shape, stamped with case number and “Stainless Steel.” Inside I find a high quality rotor automatic, mechanism that is signed Girard-Perregaux – Gyromatic, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss – GXM. The inside case lid is stampedGIRARD PERREGAUX 1791, SWISS – STAINLESS STEEL, R.
This timepiece has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets effortlessly, keeping accurate time. Like any vintage automatic watch you should always manually wind it 8 to 12 turns before putting it on your wrist after it has not been worn in a while. It is fitted on a new 18mm black hand crafted deBeer Paris lizard grain strap with matching gold buckle, a high quality band for a high quality watch. I can honestly say that the photographs provided do not do this G-P justice, it is simply immaculate and like new in person.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. The Illinois Watch Co. of Springfield, Illinois (1870 – 1933) is arguably the most collectible American watch brand amongst seasoned collectors. Founded by the Bunn family, it first produced pocket watches but then wristwatches that best exemplified the feeling and look of the Roaring 1920s. A higher-end watch in its day, Illinois quality is unsurpassed.
The company would be sold to the Hamilton Watch firm…only to succumb to the Great Depression shortly thereafter, as Hamilton could not afford to keep both factories operating. They closed the Illinois plant in early 1933. Given that the firm only made wristwatches for a brief time (and better than almost any other American watch company), rarity and value is markedly increased.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following ladies timepiece from the Illinois firm, a finely engraved, elliptical side case ladies model that dates to ca 1926 and is in excellent condition. This watch is 14kt Solid White Gold, its case finely engraved with hinged back. It is also a larger size ladies model for its time, featuring a 6/0 size mechanism that was also used in men’s Illinois watches of the era.
Its wire lug, solid 14k white gold case measures 32mm lug tip to lug tip and 29mm in width (32mm with original winding crown). In inches this works out to be 1-1/4 inches long by a bit over 1-1/8” wide, not including the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 15 jewel, manual wind mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white (ivory), enamel finish dial has been professionally restored to its original status and is in excellent condition. Features include a 60 minute checkered inner track border, Art Deco style numerals and original blue steel Breguet-style hands. Signed “ILLINOIS” below the 12 in curved script.
The solid glass crystal is in mint condition. The two-piece, hinged back case is 14 Karat Solid White Gold and in flawless shape, complete with finely engraved bezel and case sides. This watch and case are NICER in person than in my photos. The original, unmarked winding crown is excellent condition, winding and setting as it should.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS shape, free of any wear or engravings, past or present. Peeking inside I find a clean Fifteen Jewel manual wind movement (6/0 size) that is signed ILLINOIS

WATCH CO., SPRINGFIELD - 15 JEWELS and carries the serial number #4,918,776 dating the watch to ca 1926. The inside of the case back is stamped ELGIN GIANT WATCH CASE CO., 14K with case number below and movement size below
This fully serviced timepiece winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a new, 12mm matte black leather strap with matching color buckle . I get these from Hadley Roma and custom fit them onto wire lug watches by carefully slicing open and using epoxy to seal them shut. Ladies and gentlemen, if you have ever wanted a true Art Deco Illinois wristwatch that pre-dates the Hamilton era this is an excellent choice. If you like what you see in the photos

you’ll love it in person!

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The Zodiac name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the Datagraphic, a calendar watch with moon phases and the Autographic, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the Sea Wolf divers watch and Rotographic rotor automatic models would be introduced.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s vintage watch from the firm, a 100% original CLEBAR 17 jewel, manual wind Swiss ALARM model that dates to mid 1960s and is in flawless, original condition. The “Clebar” brand was the sister to Zodiac, just like Wittnauer and Longines or Rolex and Tudor. I found this example as part of a collection of remaining watches from a long since closed Pennsylvania jewelry store – no box or tags but complete with original Kreisler expansion bracelet and protective sticker on the back lid (shown in auction but since removed as it had become sticky and gummy and hid the wording of the back lid).
Triple-signed for Clebar, its 14kt yellow gold electroplated case measures 41mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (35mm including the original crowns). This works out to be 1-5/8 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not including the alarm and setting crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, Clebar Swiss alarm mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, finely brushed finish dial is in mint condition, untouched since it left the factory. It features a 60 second outer track, raised gold numbers and hour markers, original gold metal hands, a RED arrow tip

alarm hand and ‘sweep’ gold seconds hand. Signed Clebar ALARM 17 Jewels below the 12 and Shock Protected Waterproof above the 6. It is further signed Swiss Made at the base of the dial.
The 100% original acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, perhaps a tiny scratch or two from storage – not from wear. The original Clebar-signed case is 14kt Yellow Gold electroplated (as marked between the top lugs) and in excellent condition.
There are two crowns on this watch, one for winding and setting the alarm (TOP) and one for winding the watch and setting the time (BOTTOM). The alarm hand is designed to be turned counter-clockwise only while the regular hands are designed to be set clockwise only. The top crown winds the alarm and the bottom crown winds the time – you wind both fully every 24 hours.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a screw down, stainless steel example with a few light scratches. It is stamped Swiss Made, Stainless Steel Back, Shock Protected, 20 Microns Gold Electroplated Bezel, Waterproof.. Inside I find a clean manual wind mechanism signed Clebar Watch Co., Inc., Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss, KXF, BH66. Please note that the “KXF” company initials are also for Zodiac. The inside of the case back is stamped CLEBAR WATCH CO., INC., SWISS.
This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 17mm black deBeer alligator (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold buckle. Keep in mind that this watch also comes with its 100% original Kreisler yellow gold top (stainless back links) expansion band in excellent shape and shown in the photo below. Ladies and gentleman, I think you will be hard pressed to find a nicer original Clebar Zodiac alarm watch than this. And I also think the winner is going to be very pleased when it arrives in the mail…the photos do not do it justice.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Founded in 1892, the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, producing pocket watches mainly of railroad grade. By 1908 Hamilton was producing a ladies pendant watch and by 1919 a small line of wrist watches were available, but for mainly for women only.
Hamilton entered the men’s wristwatch market rather late, introducing its first (non-military) models November 1922, after Illinois, Elgin and Waltham. They quickly caught up with the other American firms, producing the highest-grade American watches ever made.
I am vhappy to offer for sale the following vintage original 1950s Hamilton timepiece, a ladies 14kt Solid White Gold model that features a total of eight (8) genuine

diamonds of high clarity, two of which are set into the oval shaped, swivel lugs.
It measures 37mm swivel lug tip to swivel lug tip and 15mm in width (16.5mm with crown). This converts to 1-1/2 inches long by 5/8 of an inch wide, including the crown and it is fitted on black cord bracelet strap that makes the overall length 7-7/8 inches, easily adjusted shorter (or longer) by me before mailing to the winning bidder. It is powered by its original and high-grade USA made 756 caliber, 19 jewel manual wind movement, fully serviced prior to auction to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original ivory color, matte enamel finished dial is in great shape, untouched since it left the factory and with just a touch of age. This dial features applied solid 18k white gold hour markers and numbers and original Lance-style, silver metal hands. Signed HAMILTON below the12.
The acrylic crystal is in excellent, original condition. The case is also excellent, a vintage Cocktail dress design that features Six Diamonds on the case and an additional Two Diamonds on the swivel, oval shape lugs. The case itself is 14 Karat Solid White Gold. The white gold finished winding crown, unmarked, is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in excellent order, stamped 14K GOLD and free of any wear or engravings. Inside I find a clean barrel-form movement with Geneva striping, signed Hamilton USA, 19 Jewels [Grade] 756. Adj.. The inside of the case back is stamped with a case serial number. Again, this case is 100% 14k solid white gold, my guarantee.
This original timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted with a black cord bracelet with matching color fittings that measures a total length of just under 8 inches and also has some S T R E T C H to it as well. If you need the band shortened (or lengthened) just let me know and I will have it custom sized before I mail it, no charge. All in all a beautiful, mid century Evening (Cocktail) watch that is ready to be worn and enjoyed. men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
Here is an excellent and original example of a men’s MYRON model by Hamilton, a Tank form, fancy lug model that was introduced by the firm in 1941. Based on its serial number, this example dates to 1945, and it is one of nicest examples of the Myron model that I have seen. Note the silver Butler finish dial with its subtle two-tone 60 minute and 60 second outer tracks, is 100% original since it left the factory.
Triple signed, it measures 38mm end to end and 22.5mm in width (24mm with crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (980 Grade) manual wind Hamilton mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my watchmaker David prior to this auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, butler enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory and with only a touch of age. It features applied 18kt solid yellow gold numerals, original gold metal Lance-style hands, a two-tone 60 minute outer chapter and a tonneau-shaped sub-seconds dial with two-tone 60 second outer track and original sweep gold seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is excellent, clear condition with NO scratches. The 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case is a Tonneau form in excellent PLUS shape, complete with sculpted lugs. The matching gold finished winding crown, correctly unmarked for the age of this watch, in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the clean back lid is free of any wear or engravings and is stamped 10k Gold Filled, S&W. Inside I find a 17 jewel, manual wind movement with Geneva striping signed Hamilton U.S.A., 17 Jewels, [Grade] 980. The serial number is G439,009, dating this model to 1945 as per serial numbers available for the 980 caliber. The inside of the case lid is stamped HAMILTON W. CO., LANCASTER PA., 10K GOLD FILLED, S278,291.
This vintage Hamilton has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an automatic wind SEAMASTER Ref. 2846/2848 5SC model that dates to 1957. This nicely restored example features a crisp stainless steel case and a very fine 501 caliber, 20 jewel self-winding rotor automatic mechanism.
Triple-signed, it measures 42mm lug tip to lug tip and 34mm in width (36.3mm with vintage domed steel winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by just shy of 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the unmarked steel crown. As noted, it is powered by a high quality Omega 501 caliber, TWENTY JEWEL automatic mechanism, fully serviced by my watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial is the original that has been professionally restored to its correct status. It is in FLAWLESS condition. Features include a 60 second inner chapter, applied gold arrow-shape hour markers and numerals (with luminous dots adjacent), original gold metal Dauphine-style hands with luminous green fill and a ‘sweep’ original gold center seconds hand. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC with applied gold Omega symbol below the 12 and Seamaster above the 6.
The hardened acrylic armored crystal is in mint condition. The three-piece case is solid stainless steel and is in excellent PLUS shape with no wear. The steel winding crown, a correct vintage domed style, is unmarked but may possibly be the original. It is in excellent order, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the vacuum seal, snap down lid is signed SEAMASTER along one side and WATERPROOFalong the opposite side. Inside I find a rose gold finished mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss – Twenty 20 Jewels - [Caliber] 501, OXG. The serial number of #15,587,593 dates the watch to ca 1957 as per available Omega production records. The inside of the case is signed DICHTUNG IM BODEN EINSETZEN - LOGER JOINT DANS FOND - ACIER INOXYDABLE - OMEGA WATCH CO. - FAB. SUISSE - SWISS MADE - PATENT + APPLIED

rubber washer fitted inside the back, as noted.
This watch has been fully serviced (disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated) so you can be assured that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. It comes fitted on new and high quality 18mm black deBeer Paris ostrich (grain) calf leather band with matching steel buckle. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.
Here is very nice example of a harder to find men’s SECKRON model by Hamilton, a Duo Dial, Doctors Dial model that dates to ca 1941. There were two Seckron models, the first introduced in 1936 and the latter in 1941. Very similar in design, they were promoted to doctors, the extra large seconds dial making it easier to read than conventional subsidiary seconds hands, useful when taking pulses. Because it was targeted to a limited market it sold in relatively small numbers and both models are quite scarce today. The 1941 version, more streamlined than the more rigidly rectangular 1936 version, is also RARER. This is due to production being halted by the onset of WWII (Hamilton had to switch over to military timing instrument production) and not being offered after the war.
Triple signed, it measures 42mm end to end and 21mm in width (23mm with crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by 3/4 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (980B Grade) manual wind Hamilton mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my watchmaker David prior to this auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The crisp enamel finished dial is in flawless shape, the original that has been professionally restored to its correct status. The top dial features a 60 minute outer chapter, black enamel numerals and original blue steel hands. The bottom dial features a 60 second inner track border and original blue steep ‘sweep’ seconds hand. Signed HAMILTON below the 12.
The solid

glass crystal is perfect condition. The 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case is a streamlined Tonneau Tank form in great shape, complete with stepped sides and NO wear to the gold finish on the bezel. The matching gold finished winding crown, correctly unmarked, is in excellent shape and operates smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is free of any personal engravings or wear through to the gold filled case. There are some light spots where the gold finish is gone (as seen in photo on the winding crown side) but this is not actual wear-through but rather areas that have been possibly repaired/restored in the past (common for this model). The case itself is in great shape with no other wear, including all four corners that are excellent.
Inside I find a 17 jewel, manual wind movement with Geneva striping signed Hamilton U.S.A., 17 Jewels, [Grade] 980B. The serial number is A8431, dating this model to 1941 -1942 as per serial numbers available for the 980B caliber. The inside of the case lid is stamped HAMILTON WATCH CO., LANCASTER PA., WADSWORTH 10K GOLD FILLED, H577,405 with pending case patent date of 5-3-1927.
This vintage Hamilton has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new black 16mm deBeer lizard grain handcrafted strap with matching gold buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed. I haven’t had a Seckron model for sale in over five years – they are simply hard to find or the ones that survive or in poor case condition. I think this one is a great example and a great investment as I doubt that there’s more than a 1000 (or even 500) of the 1941 Seckron model left in this world.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Long before the Bulova Watch Company would become famous the world over, long before there was a Bulova Observatory on top of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, the company existed as a small jewelry store on Maiden Lane in New York City, owned and operated by Joseph Bulova. A young shop assistant named John Ballard convinced Joseph to start selling watches directly to other retailers, leading to the establishment of watch factories in Switzerland and the U.S.A. The rest of course is watch history, with Bulova being one of the most recognized names in the field.
I am pleased to present a very handsome and harder to find vintage men’s timepiece from the Bulova firm, an American made FRANKLIN model that dates to 1947. I have only had this model once before in over 20 years of collecting Bulova watches and I particularly like the curved, teardrop lugs, in flawless shape with NO wear whatsoever.
Quad-signed, it measures 36mm lug tip to lug tip and 24.7mm in width (26.6mm with Bulova-signed original crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8

inches long by 1 inch in width, not including the Bulova crown. My Bulova-trained watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind 10AK caliber USA made mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The black enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored, nicely done. It features raised gold stylized numbers and hour markers, original gold metal Spade-style hands and a recessed sub-seconds dial with SUNBURST design raised gold markers and gold seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12.
The solid glass, curved crystal is in mint condition, removed in some photos to avoid glare. The 10kt Rolled Yellow Gold Plated case with stainless back is in excellent to MINT condition, absolutely spotless.. The top (bezel) portion featuring curved sides and TEARDROP shaped lugs. The winding crown (unmarked) is a matching gold finish and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is stainless steel and in excellent shape, signed BULOVA at one edge with case number on the opposite side. Having purchased many an old watch in my day I would always go for the gold filled watch with the stainless back over the gold filled back as stainless steel is much stronger and better resists the wear against one’s wrist. That being said, when I do find gold filled watches with gold filled backs I make sure they are as pristine as possible (I am very picky about case condition!)
Inside is a clean, fully serviced American made Bulova mechanism, signed Bulova Watch Co., USA, 17 Jewels, [Caliber] 10AK - 47. The number 47 represents the year 1947, when this watch was made. The inside of the case lid is signed Bulova - 10K Rolled Gold Plate Bezel, Stainless Back - New York.
This Franklin model late Art Deco Tank watch has been fully serviced by a Bulova-trained watchmaker to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality black deBeer 16mm lizard (grain) calf leather band with matching gold color buckle. All in all a beautifully designed, harder to find 1940s Bulova model in excellent condition and ready to show off.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces.
I am very pleased, heck, I am HONORED to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an excellent and original SEAMASTER 600 model from that dates to ca 1966. Before I say anything

else about this watch I wish to emphasize that it features a 100% original and untouched BLACK enamel finished dial, the very dial it left the factory with 47 years ago. I have had 600, 30 and 60 Seamaster models before but never have I seen one with a factory original black dial.
This quadruple-signed timepiece features a crisp and clean stainless steel case and a proven 601 caliber mechanism, the latter being engineered and fabricated completely in-house by Omega.
It measures 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.5mm in width (36.3mm with original Omega-signed steel crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the winding/setting crown. It has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring its seventeen jewel, two adjustment, manual wind mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original black, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition – a few specks of age upon inspecting with a loupe but guaranteed UNTOUCHED since it left the factory. Again, this dial is ORIGINAL folks, never restored and belonging to this watch since it left Omega in Switzerland in 1966.
Features include a 60 second outer chapter, raised silver hour markers with aged tritium dots, original silver steel hands with fill and a sweep original silver center seconds hand. Signed OMEGA with raised silver Omega symbol below the 12 and Seamaster 600 above the 6. It is further signed T SWISS MADE T at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, a later addition. The original two-piece Omega Seamaster case is in excellent condition, a solid stainless steel condition with crisp edges and sharp lugs. The original Omega-signed steel winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the screw-down back lid is stainless steel and marked with the Seamaster logo in finely engraved detail. This lid is in excellent condition with no personal engravings and with just a couple normal scratches. Inside I find a spotless rose gold finished mechanism that is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss [Caliber] 601, Seventeen 17 Jewels – Adjusted Two (2) Positions. The serial number is #23,281,431, dating the watch to ca 1966 as per published Omega production records (these records are accurate +/- one to two years). The inside of the case back is finely engine turned and signed OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE, ACIER INOXYDABLE, 135.011 with the Compressor logo

below.
This watch has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. It comes fitted on new, 18mm crocodile grain deBeer handcrafted band with matching steel buckle. Whether it be a Seamaster, De Ville or Constellation all watch lovers need to have at least one Omega in his or her collection. I think this one is beyond a keeper but a true investment-grade watch. I won’t hold my breath until I find another like it as it’ll probably take me about 5 to 10 years.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. One of the best-known watch firms in the world today, the Movado Watch Co. of Switzerland took its name from the Esperanto word that translates as Always in Motion. Founded by Achille Ditesheim in 1881, he soon set up the first factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the “Movado” name first appeared in 1906.
One of the first watch firms to produce a wristwatch for men, its most famous early design was the Polyplan, followed by military timepieces and triple date watches. Prices continue to rise for the early pieces, thus making them a good investment.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from Movado, an excellent condition WWII military model that dates the early 1940s. This timepiece features a stellar condition case fabricated by the Francois Borgel Watch Case Co. that features a Solid 14kt Rose Gold stepped bezel and 14k rose gold “capped” lugs set upon a stainless steel body.
Triple-signed, it measures 36.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 30mm in width (31.5mm with original rose gold finish, partially recessed crown). This works out to be just over 1-5/8 inches long by 1-3/16 inches wide without the crown, a normal men’s size in WWII but best described as a ¾ size men’s watch today – also known as a Boy Size, equally suited to a woman’s wrist. It is powered by its original 15 jewel “Movado Factories” signed 470 caliber mechanism that’s been fully serviced by my valued watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The antique white, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status. It features a 60 second outer track calibrated to 1/5 of a second for precision, raised gold Breguet style numbers, original gold Baton-style hands and a ‘sweep’ center seconds hand with RED arrow tip. Signed MOVADO below the 12.
The hardened acrylic crystal is excellent condition and clear. The stainless case is in excellent PLUS order, complete with Solid 14k Rose Gold Bezel and 14k Rose Gold capped lugs. This case was designed and fabricated by Switzerland’s most regarded case maker, Francois Borgel (est. 1887), a name that seasoned collectors are familiar with given he was the first to attempt to make a water and dust resistant, hermetic case. It is stamped with model or reference number 6435 between the bottom lugs. The matching and original rose gold finished winding crown is in excellent

Page 34: holben/Descriptions/October 28, 201… · Web viewmanual wind mechanism, signed Longines Swiss - Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 528, Swiss. The inside case is stamped

order, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the stainless back lid is a 10 sided, screw-down design in excellent shape, stamped MOVADO FACTORIES SWITZERLAND. In the center it is nicely engraved “J.T. Groff –1298697” indicating this was a military man who first had this military design watch. Unlike dress watches where personal engravings are always appreciated, a military watch with a military related engraving adds to the value of a watch.
Peeking inside I see that there is an Inner Dust Cover Lid, a high-quality detail found on only better quality military timepieces. Removing this I find a Seventeen Jewel movement that is signed Movado Factories, Fifteen 15 Jewels, Swiss Made. The caliber number 470 is located below the balance wheel. The inside of the outer case lid is nicely engine turned and features a Movado trademark (hand holding pocket watch), including FB Key- PATENT + STAINLESS STEEL INAL – MOVADO FACTORIES, SWITZERLAND - FABRICATION SUISSE (Case No.) 14761.
This cleaned, oiled & regulated watch winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer lizard grain (calf) leather band with steel buckle. All in all an excellent and original, ready to wear timepiece from one of Switzerland’s best. This is just my third rose gold and stainless Movado that I’ve ever sold on eBay, a harder to find model.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. Since 1900, Tourneau Jewelers, New York have been selling some of the finest Swiss timepieces ever made. Indeed, just about every high grade watch can be found at its stores, including its flagship location on West 34th Street in Manhattan.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s timepiece from Tourneau, a truly stunning pre-owned Swiss model that is not just another pretty face. Indeed, it was its stunning guilloche, Belle Époque engraved dial with blue numbers and hands that caught my attention – arguably one of the nicest designs I have ever seen on a watch.
This example dates to the mid 2000s and features a higher-grade 21 jewel, automatic wind Swiss 2892-2 caliber mechanism, modified and calibrated by Tourneau. This is the same mechanism used by Omega for its Co-Axial models, badged the 1120 and 2500 respectively.
Its stainless steel case measures 43mm lug tip to lug tip and 37mm in width (39mm with original crown). This works out to be just under 1-3/4 inches long by 1-1/2 inches wide, not including the crown.
It is powered by its Tourneau custom finished ETA 2892 caliber mechanism that runs smoothly and keeps accurate time.
the 100% original silver, enamel finished GUILLOCHE dial (think Spirograf) is in mint condition, photos do not do it justice. It features a 60 second outer chapter, blue steel Art Nouveau raised numerals, original blue steel hands, quick set date window at the 6 position and SWEEP blue steel center seconds hand. The original T for Tourneau signed winding/setting crown is excellent as well, operating smoothly in both winding and date setting modes.
Turning the watch over I see that the exhibition back features a sapphire crystal and stainless steel bezel. It is stamped SWISS MADE, WATER RESISTANT, TOURNEAU, STAINLESS STEEL, SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL [Model] 30020 A.
The mechanism itself is an ETA 2892 that has been finely modified, including a cutaway winding rotor with a T for Tourneau in blue. Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst

collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The “Zodiac” name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
I am very pleased to offer for sale the following men’s vintage watch from the firm, an excellent and original GLORIOUS automatic wind model that dates to ca 1960. This is just the second time that I’ve had this model before and I can’t emphasize enough how much NICER this watch is in person, my photos do not do its textured, champagne gold parchment paper (look) dial justice. Seriously folks, this watch is utterly, truly amazing in person!
Quadruple-signed for Zodiac (dial, crown, case and movement), it measures 41.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.2mm in width (36mm with original Zodiac signed crown). This is a good size watch for its era, measuring 1-5/8 inches in total length and just about 1-3/8 inches wide, not including the winding crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel (Caliber 1624), self-winding rotor automatic mechanism, fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David just last week to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver (Champagne light gold) textured enamel finished dial is guaranteed untouched since leaving the factory and in excellent condition. This was a hard dial to photograph so I can assure you it looks better in person, really, no joke!
Features include a 60 second outer track border, applied faceted hour markers, original silver steel Dauphine-style hands and original ‘sweep’ silver steel seconds hand. Signed Zodiac Glorious below the 12 marker (with applied company logo), Automatic above the 6 marker and Swiss at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition with no flaws. The two-piece case is heavy gauge, solid stainless steel and in excellent PLUS condition. It has features a clean, beefy lug design that makes you want to say “hey, that’s a nice watch case.” The stainless winding crown, Zodiac signed, is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is a screw down model stamped Zodiac –

Water & Shock Resistant – Automatic – Antimagnetic – Swiss. It is in excellent condition with no visible wear, way above average.
Inside I find a clean rotor automatic mechanism signed Zodiac Ltd., 1624, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss, KXF. Below the balance is the ebauche maker mark of AS 1624 (A. Schild). The inside of the case back is nicely engine turned and stamped ZODIAC LTD., LE LOCLE SWISS - ACIER INOXYDABLE 696.
This timepiece has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes fitted with a new 18mm black deBeer crocodile grain, hand crafted strap with matching steel buckle. So that’s the scoop on this extra nice vintage “Glorious” – very original, truly excellent and, indeed, quite glorious.

Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers.
