Introduction of Hello Chengdu

Project "Hello Chengdu" is the only local project held in China. [SWUFE]Hello Chengdu

2015 Spring to be held by AIESEC SWUFE in Si chuan Province is to help children in

Chengdu to know more about the colorful world, broaden their horizons and realize their

dreams and to help NGO in Chengdu make improvement. Most importantly, our project is

to help young people build up welfare spirit and fulfill their possibilities.

Youwillwork in the NGO, holding theme activities-cultural classes(a kind of costume, a

traditional song or dance, geography, places of interests and etc.), living library(share

your welfare experience with students), delicious food sharing, amazing race(something

like a sports meeting), going hiking, English classes and make postcards with voice. At

the end of our project, you will have a discussion with the staff of the NGO. You should

make a report about your work in theseNGOs-the problems youfind in the work and the

solution you think, so that we can help NGOs in Chengdu develop and boom. For you,

we will give you great guidance for travelling so that you can a better understanding of

Bashu culture. We will go travelling together to see amazing Sichuan in May Day!!

Project Description

Every week we will go to a comity to organize theme activities including cultural

classes(a kind of costume, a traditional song or dance, geography, places of interests

and etc.), living library(share your welfare experience or sth else with students),

delicious food sharing, amazing race(something like a sports meeting), going hiking,

English classes and make postcards with voice. Besides, we may go to some schools

to hold living library-share your experience in welfare with students. You can

develop team work ability, improve the relationships with other interns, defy your

own limitations and most important, transmit your culture and help Chinese kids

grow.

Every week we have 2-3 day off. We have made excellent travel guidance for you,

so it’s absolutely convenient for you to travel with all EPs and have a better

understanding ofBashu culture. Most importantly, we have prepared a three-day ship

in May Day-National Labor’s Day to go travelling in Jiuzhai, an extremely beautiful

place in Sichuan. We’re waiting for you

At the end of our project, you will have a discussion with the staff of the NGO. You

should make a report about your work in these NGOs-the problems you find in the

work and the solution you think, so that we can help NGOs in Chengdu develop.

The fifth week is selectable. You can choose to work in the Friends’ House or travel.

Friends’ House is an English corner aims to improve white-collar’s English. There

you will be able to meet foreigners from other country and hold parties if you want

to!

Note

Preparations required from the interns before arrival.

You should make some preparations before you go to China.

1. Prepare an introduction of yourself in PPT or video, an introduction of your country(a traditional costume, a song and a dance), several interesting game(suitable for children between 6-16, elders and students).

2. Buy insurance in your country and sent the screenshot to us before arrival.

3. Abundant teaching materials, such as your national flag, costumes, postcards, movies, books, music and soon related to your country or your own experiences.

4. Learn more knowledge about China, such as circumstance, poverty and so on.

5. Try to know more about how to communicate with kids.

6. Master basic knowledge about China, including food, culture and so on.

7. Notebook/laptop is highly suggested to carry.

Learning points that the intern might obtain during the internship

1. Chinese culture, especially Bashu Culture experience-shaper in cultural communication;

2. More knowledge about China and Chinese;

3. Cross-culture communication skills, teaching and presentation skills, teamwork skills;

4. Understanding of welfare and having good impact on whole society;

5. Ability of adapting to new environment.

About the accommodation and food

Accommodation on working days is provided by us and we provide 20 yuan subsidy per working day. But we will share the food cost if we go out to eat together. :)

About the holiday

You will work in the NGO on weekends or weekdays. But there will be 2-3 day free every week. So you can have a short tour and big dinner if you like, but the safety must be guaranteed. And we may provide you a special guidance about the Chinese traditional culture or explore Chengdu with you.
