Race 1

#8 Canadian Secret

#4 Savvy Layla

#3 Stormy Vision

#5 Frat Party

#8 CANADIAN SECRET raced wide and was flat when

kicking off his season for $10,000 12 days ago. He

should be better with the race under his belt and the

halving in value. #4 SAVVY LAYLA had a wide journey

when kicking off his season on the inner turf 12 days ago.

He is another who should appreciate the easier company

in his second start off of the bench. #3 STORMY VISION

was scratched and re-entered out of a fillies race on

Thursday in favour of this cheaper spot against the boys.

She is win-shy but fairly consistent and has some of the

better speed figures in the race. #5 FRAT PARTY closed

out 2020 with a win against a soft group of maidens for

this price. If he is ready off the bench he could earn a

share here.

Race 2

#4 The Good Witch

#6 Rolling Sloan

#5 Simple Souvenir

#3 Anita Grigio

#4 THE GOOD WITCH was a chasing fifth on the inner

turf 13 days ago to kick off the meet. She should be close

to the pace here. #6 ROLLING SLOAN went off form

suddenly after being claimed out of her maiden-breaking

effort. If the winter/spring reset has done her any good

she is more than capable of competing with these but that

is a big question. #5 SIMPLE SOUVENIR was up at the

wire in a blanket finish when beaten an okay group of

maidens for this price 13 days ago. We’ll see how she

handles this jump into non-two company. #3 ANITA

GRIGIO was second best when facing non-threes for this

price 13 days ago. She gets back into her condition

today; she posted a quick work on the training track three

days ago.

Race 3

#4 Bachelor Pad

#1 Dancing Derek

#6 Victor’s Way

#7 Hesathriller

#4 BACHELOR PAD was able to score back to back wins

at the $15,000 level, then reached up to face OS/$40,000

foes on 15 days rest to no avail. He is aggressively but

realistically spotted for his 2021 debut. #1 DANCING

DEREK was a gate scratch early in the 2020 season,

putting him on the sidelines until November when he was

able to win his only start. He figures to be the biggest

speed type in here. #6 VICTOR’S WAY has the recency

edge over this field as he has already made three starts

in Chicago since May. He also has speed but may not be

as quick early as the more-fresh Dancing Derek. #7

HESATHRILLER has been quite win-shy in recent

seasons but is absolutely capable of running on for a

share here.

Race 4

#4 Chasing Vinny

#9 Jersey Diamond

#6 Act of Bob

#5 Tall Water

#4 CHASING VINNY found a home in the lower claiming

ranks last year, scoring a maiden win and two good runs

at this level, including a second behind Red Frog who ran

very well in the recent Welcome Back Handicap. He looks

very good with this group. #9 JERSEY DIAMOND is the

kind of horse who seems to need to break sharp and get

on the lead to have a chance to run any good at all. He

does look like one of the speedier types in this field. #6

ACT OF BOB is another speed type. He exits a good

enough fifth in the same Red Frog race that Chasing

Vinny exits. #5 TALL WATER was a good fourth over the

inner turf when kicking off his season 12 days ago and

could be a sleeper as the only horse in this field with a

race under his belt.

Race 5

#2 Victor’s Destiny

#8 Slip Kid

#7 Badjeros Boy

#5 Tinker Ring

#2 VICTOR’S DESTINY gave way late but did not run

badly when kicking off his season 12 days ago. He looks

like the speed of the speed here, especially if Dyna’s

Gamble breaks a bit slowly like last time. #8 SLIP KID

was a flat seventh in the same race that Victor’s Destiny

exits. This 10-year old veteran exudes back class and

should never be written out completely. #7 BADJEROS

BOY is another very classy old horse. He makes his

seasonal debut here; he has very little speed and may

not have much pace to close into. #5 TINKER RING is a

bit of an underachiever who is capable of running decent

races; he looks logical to round things out.

Race 6

#1 Strike the Top

#3 Juan Pablo

#6 Downy Boy

#2 Doctor Uptown

#1 STRIKE THE TOP returns from Gulfstream off of a win

for $20,000. He nearly scored an upset over this turf

course last year with a beautiful buried-up rail trip; he

could get that trip once again today. #3 JUAN PABLO, a

new import from Florida, is a grinding type who doesn’t

win often but earns a check very frequently and may

appreciate the long stretch on this course. #6 DOWNY

BOY made just one start in 2020, racing evenly against

first level allowance company sprinting on the Tapeta. A

middle distance turf race is more suited to him; his status

is the biggest question. #2 DOCTOR UPTOWN was able

to run second locally at 42-1 in September but had some

poor luck in his three final starts of the campaign. I don’t

know that he is a true Woodbine horse at this level but I

don’t think he should be overlooked at a massive price

either.

Race 7

#9 Final Eclipse - Best Bet

#4 Fifth Season

#6 Strike a Beat

#8 Right to Strike

#9 FINAL ECLIPSE had some wide and troubled trips in

large fields last year. He doesn’t draw great today but at

least the field isn’t huge and he may offer a bit of value.

#4 FIFTH SEASON was in some very tough races to start

off his career last year but quickly got into good form

when he got into this level. He looks like one of the more

serious contenders. #6 STRIKE A BEAT only missed a

check once last year, in a sprint where he drew the

widest post, and even on that day he was beaten only

four lengths. He is a grinder who probably needs a lot of

things to go right in order to actually win, but he should be

a factor. #8 RIGHT TO STRIKE raced wide early when

debuting against three-year olds at Tampa in April. He

obviously needs to improve but could be worth a look.

Race 8

#13 Souper Best Bet

#7 Birchmount Rd

#6 Hip to Your Tricks

#11 Bocelli

#10 Big Time Gizmo

#13 SOUPER BEST BET debuted without threatening in

a very tough maiden $25,000 in November, then ran a

couple of okay races in three attempts south of the

border. He has not caught a very tough field here. #7

BIRCHMOUNT RD is a very tough horse to predict. He

did not run great six days ago but is likely in good order to

be entered back this quick, and his rare good race is

enough to be dangerous here. #6 HIP TO YOUR TRICKS

kicked off his season with a third at this price 12 days

ago. He debuted in the same race as Souper Best Bet

last year, finishing slightly ahead of that foe on that day.

#11 BOCELLI didn’t run terribly in his debut at Turfway in

December but has gotten worse in two starts since. He

was gelded in April, takes a drop and makes his second

start with blinkers while shortening up to a sprint. #10 BIG

TIME GIZMO began to find his form in his final two starts

of 2020 and could earn a slice here.
