AS part of environmentalawareness, GreytownChildren's Home not onlyhas a recycling areawhere residents are en-couraged to drop off pa-per, plastic, cardboardand tin, but have alsoplaced recycling bins, kindly sponsored by Pan-nar, at Greytown JuniorSchool, Greytown HighSchool, and Kammaland.

A big thank you to Pan-nar and these schools. Please separate your

recycling anddrop it off atthe Children's home or inone of the school bins. Wewould also like all yourwhite paper and askplease keep it completelyseparate from any otherpaper, ensure that it is dryand it would be really ap-preciated if delivered in a

box.This week's Green Tips:1. Unplug cell phone

chargers that are not inuse. They still use power, even when not connectedto the phone.2. Do not let your car

idle when not necessarye.g. when standing at astop/go. If your car idlesfor 10 seconds it uses upmore fuel than needed to

start it again.3. Get an email address

and let your bank, cloth-ing store, cell phone ser-vice provider, etc. sendyour accounts via emailrather than post. Thatway you save a lot of pa-per.4. Print on both sides of

the paper. Most printersmake it very easy to printon both sides.

GRANDPARENTS Day at New HanoverPrep School is a way of bringing together families and building community. OnFriday, the children had the opportunityto show their appreciation and love toward their grandparents, and other special older adult friends, and grandparents were made to feel valued as children sang songs, recited poems andshared precious memories.

By honouring their grandparents, thechildren became more aware of thestrength, information and guidanceolder people can offer.

The grandparents shared some quality time with their grandchildren in theirclassrooms, engaging in craft activities, games, interviews, quizzes and creativefun. They then enjoyed delicious treatsand tea before going home with theirgrandchildren to spend the afternoontogether.

While mothers and fathers are themain source of discipline and examplein a child's life, grandparents have a profound effect on viewpoints. Withoutthe wisdom of the grandparents, manychildren today wouldn’t understandwhat it was like to grow up without thetechnology and amenities of today’sworld and wouldn’t appreciate whatthey have nearly as much.
