How to use the statistics in GMID
The statistics in GMID can be adjusted, and the different possibilities are shown in the fields to the
left, Convert Data, Change Time Series etc.:
In this example we want to compare the consumption of beer in two countries, Denmark and Ger-
many. To do so the difference in population in the two countries has to be taken into account. There-
fore, select Convert Data and choose Per Capita /household, to get the consumption for each person
or household.
You can change the time series shown in the table, and choose specific years or get a forecast (un-
der Change Time Series):

How to find statistics on one or more countries
Besides the market related statistics GMID contains statistics on economy, finance, demographics,
consumer expenditure, foreign trade, income, housing, savings and much more.
The statistics is harmonized, which means that different methods of calculation and collection of da-
ta from e.g. national statistics are taken into consideration. A big advantage when you want to com-
pare two or more countries.
Select Menu Search and then the category Countries & Consumers:
Select e.g. Annual Disposable Income and then press Now Choose Geographies:
University College Nordjylland 11/13
Choose one or more countries and press Run search to start the search:
Change the tab to Statistics for get an overview. Now the search result has to be modified:
When comparing economic conditions in two or more countries at least two things must be taken in-
to account:
1. It has to be the same currency and not, as here, Dkr and Euro. Select Convert Data → Currency
Conversions, and choose e.g. Euro:
University College Nordjylland 12/13
2. Differences in population in the two countries have to be taken into account, as GMID as default
shows the total for the whole country. Select either Per Capita or Per Household:
This makes the numbers comparable, and you will be able to download the table in Excel or pdf:

Please note!
This is just one of more ways to search the GMID database. The database is very complex and offers
several possibilities to get from one search to another. This means that you will be able to find the
same information in several ways.
Furthermore, there are more options to find market information and customize statistics in the
GMID database than mentioned in this guide.
If you have any questions regarding this database please contact the UCN Library in Porthusgade at
[email protected], and we will do our best to help you.
