• Water Pollution is not just a problemfor divers, surfers, beach swimmers and fishermen.
• If you drink water then it is also your problem!
How pollution travels to the ocean.

plastics…iii. Can come from Sewage.
i. Pipes overflow & garbage travels to a river or the ocean, or finds a way to the ocean another way.
2. *Oil Pollution.i. 37million gallons of oil
accidentally spilled into the ocean each year.
ii. 60million gallons in ocean each year.
iii. “glues” animals feathers togeteri. Clogs fish gillsii. Blocks sunlight from the
plants.(No Photosynthesis)
iii. Slows down plant and coral reef growth.

• Nurdles found on the beach.^^^• A 2001 study of beach debris in Orange
County California found that 98% was nurdles.
• Huge quantities have been found inthe Indian and Pacific Oceans,the Bay of Bengal and offshore waters in the Philippines.
