Thank you so much for choosing to support Hospice in the Weald.

Hospice in the Weald provides compassionate, supportive, individualised and holistic care to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers.

Our care philosophy is about the quality of life and death. We care for the whole person and put patients rst to help make their remaining time as fullled and happy as it can be.

All of our care is oered free of charge to our patients, their families and carers so we rely on support from and in our community to help us reach the £6 million we need to raise every year to continue providing our vital services. We are not part of the NHS and truly value the dedication of the people who give their money and time from our local community to enable the Hospice’s philosophy of care to reach more and more local patients.

As a supporter you will be glad to hear that we are always careful with your money. We are well run and 90p of every £1 we receive goes directly towards patient care.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us to reach the £7 million we need to raise every year to continue to provide our vital services.

Dave Hickson and friends,Community event supporters

Why your support matters

As you know, at Hospice in the Weald we put patients rst. As your local charity, it’s important that you hear rst-hand why every donation we receive is so important to us. Here, Marilyn shares her story

After 4 gruelling weeks at hospital with IV antibiotics and drains I was well enough to return to the Hospice. Back again to a lovely room, with a warm welcome and appealing food. The nurses, doctors, and indeed all the sta are marked by kindness, compassion, and a deep sensitivity to your needs. Nothing is too much trouble.

After the trauma of illness in hospital my rst night at the Hospice brought my usual night terrors. Again, the nurses were on hand to comfort, bring hot drinks, and stay with me all night if need be. After a couple of nights I was able to sleep right through the night and had lost my anxiety. I began to see the Hospice as a life giving place, a wonderful and very special place, with sta who go more than the extra mile.My fears have all gone. My thinking has been completely turned around. I would welcome the opportunity to come here for care again, and will in fact look forward to it.

Hospice in the Weald provides compassionate, supportive, individualised and holistic care to patients with Every donation, no matter the size, helps us to reach the £6 million we need to raise every year to continue to provide our vital services.

Why your support matters

Ben Ashwell, a Hospice in the Weald supporter explains why he fundraises for us

‘ My father was originally diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2011 however he did extremely well to hold o the disease until 2014 when sadly, his condition began to deteriorate rather rapidly. My family’s preconception of what a hospice was, was initially not a positive one, however when my father was admitted we were overawed by the positivity, professionalism, and the bedside manner of the nurses, doctors and sta. They really all do a fantastic job. My father felt at ease when he was there and for that we, as a family, will be eternally grateful.

Our family fundraising page was initially set up to allow people to donate to a worthy charity rather than send owers following my father’s death. We hope it will serve as a site for all of the family to raise money throughout the next two years and hopefully thereafter for various events we plan to get involved in. We all ran the Hospice in the Weald 10KM last year and hope to continue to support the event in the years to come.’

To date Ben’s family has raised an incredible £6,015 for Hospice in the Weald

Gift AidNot everyone understands Gift Aid and we don’t blame them, it always sounds complicated but the reality is any UK tax payer who donates can include Gift Aid which means the taxman gives a further 25% to Hospice in the Weald. It’s as simple as that!

For every £40 you raise Hospice in the Weald would receive an additional £10 at no charge to you, your friends or family. That extra money can make a huge dierence to our patients, families and carers. Please don’t forget to ask UK taxpayers to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form. They also need to include their full name and home address including postcode. Don’t worry, we won’t pass this information onto any third parties but we need it in order to claim the Gift Aid.
