The Continents Are Divided Up!
• 5 of the continents are broken up into sections of land called countries.– Africa– Asia– Europe– North America– South America
• 1 of the continents is broken up into sections of land called territories.– Australia
• 1 of the continents has no countries or territories at all. In fact, it really has no one living there!– Antarctica
Regions – More Division of Land
• As you know, the continent of North America is divided up into three basic countries:– Canada– Mexico– United States of America
• All countries are divided up into large areas of land called regions.– Sometimes regions are actually called “regions”
but usually they are called by other names such as:• Provinces• Territories• Departments• States
United States of America

• It also holds several other districts, territories, and possessions
State Regions• Each of these states is divided into regions …

NeighborhoodsCities are divided up into neighborhoods
by streets. On each street, you can find buildings, houses, or apartments.
