We are so excited that your daughter has chosen to be a member of one of the finest organizations on the Reagan campus. The Charmers have built quite a reputation and will continue to build on their prestigious reputation in the years that follow.

You will find everything you need to know about the Charmers on the next few pages. The packet includes uniform rental information, a size chart for items to be ordered by the directors, a price list of those items, summer camp information, a schedule of events, and other required forms.

Tips for the summer:1)Payments must be made throughout the summer. You

may pay online through Charms but there is a fee to pay online. We only accept checks and money orders made out to RHS, no cash. You can mail in checks or money orders to: 19000 Ronald Reagan Dr., SA TX 78258 Attn: Erin Bochniak. You can also drop off

checks at the main office in an envelope with Erin Bochniak on the outside on the envelope. ALL checks and money orders MUST have your child’s name in the memo along with what the check is for. Please always do this for the duration of their high school career.

CHARMERS SUMMER SCHEDULE August 2 Rattler Day 1 (Location Dance Studio)

8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.~Dress is comfortable T-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, and hair pulled back from your face in a ponytail.~Bring plenty of water and make sure you eat breakfast before and lunch WILL be provided.~No jewelry should be worn when dancing at any time. No gum in the studio or while dance at ANY time. ~You will receive your order form/ uniforms on this day.

You may not receive ALL of your uniforms this week, but you will get everything that you need for camp at this time.

August 3 & 4 Rattler Days 2 & 3 (Location Dance Studio) 8:30 A.M. - 12 P.M.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS CLASS

Please understand that along with being a class, the Charmers Pep Squad is an extra-curricular organization. By joining the Charmers you must understand all of the many responsibilities as a member and as parents to the organization. It is a large time and financial commitment. We do have many after school and weekend activities. All of these activities are mandatory. You are expected to remain a dedicated and committed member for the entire school year.

This commitment also includes maintaining a high grade point average in order to remain eligible. Academics always come first! As state law says, “no pass, no play!” Students who are failing will be placed on scholastic probation. Your conduct grades must also remain high as you will be expected to be a role model at all times.

The pep class will meet daily during the seven-period school day! There are dance and drill officers aiding us in each class to ensure everyone receives the attention they need. Girls are graded based on dress out attire, effort, progression of skills, and participation in our performances.

We will do a lot of conditioning, running, dancing, etc. For this reason all Charmers must have a physical by a doctor which must be turned in to the director BEFORE the first day of Rattler Days (8/2)**. If this is not turned in, your daughter will not be allowed to participate and the director will put in a request to the counselor for you daughter’s schedule to be changed. Please understand that you have almost 3-4 months to take care of this matter. Please do not wait to the last minute to have your

physical done. A copy must be turned into the spirit office to keep on file. Please try and hand one in that is current as of March 2017 and not before.

If you have any questions, please contact the directors at 356-1826**Please note that if you had a physical done at Reagan by the trainers for a sports team, it is YOUR responsibility to retrieve the copy from them to submit to the director.

FUNDRAISINGEach Charmer member will be responsible for fundraising a certain amount during the school year. The amount varies depending on the projected budget made at the beginning of the school year by the director. The total amount is then divided by the number of girls in the organization. This past year each Charmer had to fundraise $228. Expect this year’s amount to be around the same but you will get a break down of the cost at the beginning of the school year.

Your daughter will have many opportunities to raise this money throughout the year. The girls may sell wrapping paper/gifts, candles, poinsettias, chocolate, cookie dough, jewelry, rugs, etc. The financial obligation can easily be met by participating in some of these fundraising activities. If your daughter chooses not to raise the money, you may just pay the amount yourself.

The fundraising obligation of the student is not the limit to what the student should or can fundraise. Any money raised above the required amount will be processed similar to a bank account, where students can pay for various expenses from their account. This will only be allowed after the fundraising obligation has been met. Any funds remaining in her account at the end of the year will transfer to the Spirit group she makes during tryouts. Build up our accounts NOW to help with expenses in the future.

At the beginning of the school year, your daughter will be given this year’s budget with all of the expenses at the Parent’s Informational Meeting Aug 30. More details will be explained along with this budget.

Please understand that if your daughter quits or is dismissed from the organization because of grades or

misconduct, YOU WILL STILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FULL FUNDRAISING AMOUNT and you will not receive a reimbursement of funds that may be in your account!!

DIRECTOR’S CORNER

SCHOOL SPIRITThe purpose of the spirit program is to cultivate support for teams and programs across campus. Pep squad is not just

a dance class, but is a team that must take pride in themselves and their school. High expectations of

appearance, attendance, responsibility, and participation will be demanded throughout the year. As a result,

academic and conduct grades are expected to remain high so that students may remain eligible at all times.

NEISD CONSTITUTIONThis document is used as a guideline throughout all spirit

teams in the district. There is little room for interpretation. Students and their families often neglect to read,

understand, and follow its policies. As a result they are often frustrated and/or disappointed with particular

circumstances. I encourage you to become familiar with its contents before the school year begins, and assume the responsibility of its expectations. This will ensure your daughter’s success in the program in pep squad and

beyond!

DANCE ENVIRONMENTPep squad is open to everyone, and is recommended prior to trying out for drill or dance team. Students will have a

variety of backgrounds, training, strengths, and personalities. The goal is to help everyone develop such qualities to their greatest potential. Not all students will

progress at the same rate, but it is possible for everyone to achieve the same goals. Students on the team must be

able to participate fully without creating negative competition between herself and others. Students who

view class in such a light typically find their experience to

be less than enjoyable. Just relax, follow the rules and have fun!

VOLUNTEERSParents are always encouraged to get involved. Please understand that this team is not just your daughter’s

commitment. We need your support! There are many ways you can be involved. You can be involved as little or as

much as you want but please sign up to be in the spirit club so you can get information about what is happening in the

organization.

STUDENT LEADERSHIPThe spirit program thrives off its amazing and dedicated

student leaders. Officers will have an influential role on all freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams. Teammates are expected

to appreciate and respect their officers as well as their fellow teammates. This will help maintain a healthy and positive environment for all involved! Students will have many opportunities to become line leaders or serve their team in various leadership roles throughout their years in

the program.

PE/FINE ARTS CREDITStudents will receive all of their P.E. credits first, then their

Fine Arts credits second with each semester they are enrolled in a pep, drill, dance, or cheer class. Students who

remain in the program at least three years will complete these graduation requirements.

EXPENSESPlease realize that in joining pep squad, you are investing

in items that will be used beyond your daughter’s pep squad year. For instance, over half the uniform items are required on drill and dance team. Otherwise, if an item is

still in good, clean condition at the end of the year, you will have the opportunity to sell items to incoming freshman.

Assistance is always available for those families in need. Often, payment options can be can be arranged if requested and if families commit to participating

successfully in all fund raising activities. All student financial information is confidential. Please do not hesitate

to contact me!

FRESHMENThe first year of high school will be fun and exciting! It is

also a BIG STEP UP from middle school. Students can become easily distracted with the social environment,

more freedom or privileges, relationships, etc. Those who struggle will often admit they were not prepared or did not

keep up with their responsibilities in and out of the program. Our best advice is to COMMUNICATE! We are

always here to help- with anything, but we will not make exceptions or lower our expectations just because your

freshmen.

UNIFORMS

THE DAY UNIFORMEach Charmer will purchase their personal day uniform. It is

listed on the expense sheet and is included in the total price of the uniform items. It will consist of the warm up

jacket and pants, the white Charmers shirt, black hair bow, and the white ked like sneakers. Students must wear their day uniform to pep rallies and during school on designated

game days. The uniform listed below will be worn at games.

THE GAME UNIFORM****This is a RENTAL item****

The rental fee is $30 for the girls Game Day uniform. The fee must be paid by April 20th in order to receive the

uniform on time and to reserve your spot in the class.

Each Charmer will be fitted for a game uniform on the first day of rattler camp . The uniform consists of a top and skirt to be worn at all games. The uniform will also be used for

other occasions throughout the year.

Since the items are rented from the North East School District, they are to be turned in at the end of the next

school year. If they are lost, stolen, or damaged you will be responsible to pay what it costs to replace them which is

$100.

Again, the game uniform is owned by the school and you rent them so you may not tailor them in any way or make changes to the size. If you feel as though changes need to be made throughout the year, the dancer needs to bring

the concern to the directors.

REPRESENTING REAGANPlease understand that it is a privilege to wear a Reagan

uniform. Anything purchased from Reagan, although it may not display the name, will be considered uniform items. All uniform items are prohibited from being worn in public, off-campus areas or events. Because it is likely that pictures of you in uniform will be publicized on the web (i.e. My Space, Facebook, Social Media), it is required that you keep your

social media CLEAN! You are responsible for ALL comments or pictures posted by others and yourself on

social media.

REAGAN HIGH SCHOOL PEP SQUAD AGREEMENT

REQUIREMENTS OF A REAGAN CHARMER• Participant will have a doctor’s physical prior to the

first summer practices (Rattler Days, prior to 8/2) or

she will not be allowed to participate. You may fax (482-2222), mail, email, or turn into main office with ATTN: Pep Director.

• Students will submit all required forms in the General Info Packet.

• Participants will follow the attendance guidelines and procedures as described in the NEISD Constitution.

• Attendance at Rattler Days (8/2-8/4) is mandatory. • Attendance at NorthEast Pep Squad Camp (8/7& 8/8) is

required.• Attendance at all athletic events is MANDATORY!• Attendance at all tentative athletic playoff events is

MANDATORY!• Attendance at all before or after school pep rallies is

required.• Attendance at all before or after school practices is

required.• Participants must be enrolled in the pep squad class

period. • Dressing out and participating in class is expected and

is a grade.• Participation in our football season half-time

performance, NEISD District Show, Competition Show Offs, Competition and Reagan Spring Show is required and will count for a grade.

• Participating in Skills class ($50) for the entire year is expected.

• Participation in all fundraising activities is expected.• Participants must be willing to pay all financial

obligations on time.• Participants will participate in Spirit Club activities and

meetings.• Creating a parent portal account will be MANDATORY

so that families may better monitor and communicate any issues with RHS.

• Pep Squad members must agree to represent Reagan HS in a positive manner as outlined in the District Constitution and the Fine Arts Code of Conduct. They must also maintain a role-model position in which high morals are to be exhibited at ALL TIMES! If these standards of behavior are not maintained, the member will be dismissed immediately as per District Constitution.

• Participants will follow all requirements and expectations listed above for the Charmers Pep Squad 2017-2018 school year.

R E A G A N C H A R M E R S P H I L O S O P H YI fully understand that the philosophy of the RHS Charmer Pep Squad is to be the cornerstone of spirit for Reagan High School. In addition to their duties as spirit ambassadors for Reagan, the Pep Squad will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate their spirit throughout class, performances and at various activities. A strict work ethic will be enforced to insure that these young ladies will always represent Reagan High School in the fine manner that will be expected.

I fully understand the schedule of events, eligibility requirements, and financial obligations required for being a member of the Reagan High School Charmer Pep Squad.

I understand and agree to participate in all activities as outlined in the Reagan Pep Squad General Information packet.

I understand that my daughter must be willing to participate in all performances, activities, practices, and shows.

I understand that scholastic and spirit probation is not encouraged, and will affect my daughter’s ability to actively participate in team functions.

I understand that my daughter must be willing to participate in all fundraising activities, and if not, the parents will assume the fundraising obligations. I understand that if my daughter is dismissed from the team, because of conduct (demerits or probations) or grades, or quits for whatever reason, I will still have to pay the full fundraising amount required of the entire year.

I understand the financial obligations of a Reagan High School Pep Squad member include providing or purchasing the required uniforms and accessories, as well as paying for NEPSC camp, and meals.

I understand that my daughter must receive a physical BEFORE she may attend summer practices (Rattler Days and NorthEast Pep Squad Camp). If the director does not receive this, by the required practice dates, the daughter will be switched out of pep squad and into a PE class.

VERY IMPORTANT!

PAYMENT POLICYIt is very important that EVERY check you turn in has your daughter’s first and last name in the memo, what class period she is in, plus what the check amount is for (the more specific, the better). If you ever turn in cash, you MUST put the money in a sealed envelope with your daughter’s name, class period, the amount, and what the money is for. Always make checks out to Reagan HS unless you are told otherwise.
