Course Description

The Summit Foundation LEED V4 CI and LBC project team will

discuss the challenges, lessons learned, and overarching

processes for successfully building a commercial office space

with materials transparency, health, and sustainability

requirements and how it impacts the design, construction

methods, schedule, and budget.

Learning Objectives & Learning Level Understand why architects and general contractors need a higher degree of

shared effort; normal delegation of means and methods isn’t practical for meeting BDPO - Material Ingredients Credits.

Learn how clients can have a much higher level of engagement to help direct the tradeoffs inherent in meeting timing, budget and project goals and emerging standards requirements.

Understand that LEED v4 and other new rating system projects will have considerably longer lead times on products; products that are normally incidental choices require major decisions and trade-offs to comply with the BPDO - Material Ingredients requirements.

Learn how there will be a much higher degree of iteration between design and materials specification in projects with materials transparency goals to maintain quality and meet the requirements of BPDO - Material Ingredients.

Learning Level: 200 – Understanding/Comprehension
