    2 This unit standard may be assessed against the use of pressurised or gravitysystems.

    Elements and performance criteria

    Element 1

    Prepare to defuel aircraft.

    Performance criteria

    1.1 Task is determined by reviewing maintenance documentation.

    1.2 Environmental conditions in which the task is to be carried out are checked forsuitability in accordance with enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to precipitation, lightning, airbornedust and/or debris.

    1.3 Resources are obtained and checked for serviceability or status in accordancewith enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to publications, tools, safetyequipment, support equipment, defuelling equipment.

    1.4 Quantity or weight of fuel to be unloaded is calculated in accordance withenterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to gallons, litres, pounds,kilograms, specific gravity.

    1.5 Aircraft registration and system to be defuelled are matched withdocumentation.

    1.6 Aircraft and systems are prepared for the application and removal of power andfor system operation in accordance with enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to cockpit controls match

    component positions, clearances obtained, isolation tagsfitted/removed, warning signs positioned, aircraft levelled, aircraftpositioned, ignition sources eliminated.

    1.7 Aircraft and ground equipment are positioned ready for defuelling in accordancewith enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to pumps, ground power units,stands, fire extinguishers.

    Defuel aircraft.

    Performance criteria

    2.1 Fuel, containers and equipment are matched with system to be defuelled inaccordance with enterprise procedures.

    2.2 Aircraft is defuelled in accordance with enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to fuel quality tested to determine ifdisposal is required, bonding attached, defuelling equipmentconnected, defuelling sequence and quantity monitored andcontrolled if applicable.

    2.3 Initial action is taken in event of abnormal situations occurring in accordance

    with enterprise procedures.

    Range may include but is not limited to fire, spillage, personalcontamination by fuel.

    Element 3

    Complete defuelling related tasks.

    Performance criteria

    3.1 Aircraft, system and work areas are left in a state that enables the next task tobegin in accordance with enterprise procedures.

    3.2 Resources are checked for serviceability and returned to service or storage inaccordance with enterprise procedures.

    3.3 Non-conformities and abnormal situations are reported and documented inaccordance with enterprise procedures.

    3.4 Documentation is completed in accordance with enterprise procedures.

    Please note

    Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional bodywith delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits fromassessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

    Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority beforethey can register credits from assessment against unit standards.

    Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards

    must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

    Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to thisstandard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP).
