H appy New Year!!!
I want to welcome everyone back from a well-deserved
holiday. I am betting that 2016 will be BETTER than last
year and I am willing to put in the work to make it there. Hopefully
everyone else is refreshed by the New Year as well.
Our first event of the New Year was our first annual ASHRAE Texas
Hold’em Poker Tournament hosted by Dean & Derrick at HTS on
Thursday, January 7th. Big thanks to everyone who participated to make this event a success
and especially Derrick Van West for organizing the event. Derrick is also the Austin Chapter
Research Promotion Chair and with all of the new special events we have added this year,
he has surpassed the 30% RP goal by December 31st.
Our next monthly meeting will be dinner meeting on January 21st at The County Line on the
Hill. The Texas PE Board will be presenting on Engineering Ethics to give updates on Board
rule changes, information on enforcement statistics, and the engineering Code of Conduct.
Please come early because our annual ethics meeting is always well attended. Engineers
come out of the wood work for this meeting because all Texas PE license holders must have
one hour of Engineering Ethics each year as part of the Continuing Education requirements.
Nothing goes better with Engineering Ethics than BBQ & Beer!
Do you want to make ASHRAE BETTER? We are always looking for volunteers to get
involved. If you are interested in helping ASHRAE Austin Chapter for the 2015-2016 year,
please contact me or any of the committee chairs listed on the back page of this ASHRAE
Austin Chapter newsletter.
David Bacorn can be reached at (512) 744-4412 or [email protected]
