I hope that you had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed a slower pace of life for a few days at least! We have a busy half-term ahead which is literally filled to bursting with events and activities so please keep an eye on your emails and our website to make sure you dont miss out on important information and of course follow our Twitter feed to keep up to date with news! Have a lovely weekend! Thursday 1st March Toad of Toad Halls Sausages or Cloudy with a Chance of Veggie Meatballs Served with Willy Wonka Wedges The Lord of the Spaghetti Rings Golden Snitch Sweetcorn Demon Dentists Doughnuts Year 6 Booster Classes Thank you very much for supporting the Year 6 Booster Classes - we now have 94 children signed up which is a brilliant number! Well done to the children for their commitment to learning and striving to do their best! ParentsEvening Children are encouraged to join you for this terms meetings but please be aware that they should stay with you rather than wander on their own. The bell will ring every ten minutes to help teachers keep to time as this has proved to be very successful in the past. Mrs. Backhouse (our Inclusion Manager) will be available without appointment during both evenings - she will be based in her office which is through the double doors at the back of the hall. (It will be signposted). I will also be available, without appointment, to discuss any issues, concerns or queries that you might have. World Book Day Just a reminder that children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from a book (not a film please) next Thursday. During the day, there will be a number of activities which all relate to books. There will also be a special themed lunch. It sounds like a great day! PE Shorts Please could we ask that children wear traditionally-styled PE shorts for PE lessons rather than cycling shorts. An increasing number of children, particularly in Year 6, are wearing shorts which we consider to be too tight and short to be suitable for a primary school PE lesson. Thank you, in advance, for your support with this. Inter-House Bench Ball During the week before half-term, all the children took part in a very exciting Inter-House Bench Ball competition. Bench Ball is often listed as one of the childrens favourite games so you would not be surprised to hear that they thoroughly enjoyed taking part and competing against one another. Bench Ball is also a very inclusive game so it was wonderful to see so many children participating with great vigour. It was a closely fought battle, with Lions taking the victory with 106 points, closely followed by Jaguars with 96 points, Leopards with 94 points and finally Panthers with 86 points. Well done to all our super players and thank you to Mr Nation and Winger Sports Coaches for organising the competition. MAPAC School Uniform Orders The last date for free delivery of orders to school, for delivery before 25th May is Saturday 12th May. After that, orders will have to be delivered to home addresses and will be subject to a postage charge.

Cross Country News On Thursday 8th February, our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6

girls and boys took part in the cross country competition at Mayflower High School. All the

children worked really hard and despite how cold it was, they didn’t let this stop them. There were some

individual children who demonstrated excellent dedication and effort throughout the races. We are very pleased to announce that overall the teams that are through to the next round are the Year 3 Boys, Year 4 Girls, Year 4 Boys and Year 6 Girls. Also, we have lots of individual runners through to the next

round as well which is fantastic and they are as follows; Lenny Batchelor, William Clements, Leon

Dearlove, Kesia Crees, Amy Norman, Eadie Hatchard, Naomi Clements, Carolina Stevens, Louie Dennison

and Alexa Mann. Therefore, due to some outstanding results for both individuals and teams, this means we

finished 1st overall. A big thank you to Miss Taylor, Mrs Alderman and

Mr Nation for attending the event and supporting all the children and to Mr Nation for his lunchtime

coaching sessions.

Dance, Dance, Dance! Yesterday morning, 20 Year 3 and 4 children took part in a Dance Festival led by Year 9 students at Mayflower High

School. The children had a fantastic time performing a

dance routine to ‘Timber’. Most of the dance was performed as a whole group, however, the children were given the chance to put their own personal twist to the

routine by adding in some of their own dance moves, including: ‘The Running Man, break dancing, floor slides

and of course ‘The Dab’. It definitely made for very

entertaining watching. As always, the children’s behaviour was exceptional and they thoroughly enjoyed their morning! Well done to all the children who took part and thank you to

Miss Donnelly and the parent helpers who accompanied them.
