Dear Brother Knights: As the sun rose on Easter Sunday morning, Jesus rose with it and appeared to His disciples. He was more radiant and more fully alive than they had ever

seen Him before. And at that moment the power of Easter began to work in the lives of the disciples. Suddenly they were transformed from a band of despairing men into a brigade of daring missionaries. At the command of Jesus they set out to carry the news of Easter to the four corners of the earth. And everywhere they preached the good news the power of Easter began to work in people’s lives, just as it had in their own lives. Beautiful things began to happen. Despair began to give way to hope; darkness began to give way to light; hatred began to give way to love; sorrow began to give way to joy. In short, everywhere the disciples preached, the power of Easter began to work miracles in people’s lives. And those miracles haven’t stopped yet. They continue to happen in our time. This is what Easter is all about. It’s the good news that the risen Jesus is in our midst ready to work miracles for us, if we let Him. It’s the good news that nothing can defeat us anymore - not discouragement, not pain, not misfortune, not sin, not even death. It’s the good news that Jesus has triumphed, and so will we if we open our hearts to Him. This is what Easter is all about. Brother Knights, of Good Shepherd Parish, as your chaplain I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a Happy and Blessed Easter. May Jesus the Risen Lord, our Good Shepherd, help each of us to be Easter people and proclaim the message of Good News of life to all we meet. Your Chaplain, Father Gary Goyeau

Dear Brother Knights, We are rapidly approaching the end of our fraternal year and nominations / elections are just

around the corner (May). Please give some serious thought to serving on the Executive Board. New ideas are welcomed and help our Council grow. If you’ve served in the past, now is the time to pick up some frequent flyer miles and throw your hat in the ring again. As we enter into April, with a full agenda of events and activities, let us also remember that we are entering into the most sacred times of our Church year. We are watching the days of Lent dwindle down to remembering, with great love, the suffering, the Passion, and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ. I truly believe that God calls us to make definitive choices, and He has a Plan for each one of us. Trust Him ! On behalf of Gabrielle and myself, we wish each and every one of you and your families, a safe and Holy Easter. God Bless.

“Vivat Jesus” Paul Lauzon – Grand Knight.

Dear Brother Knights

Spring has arrived, and we will celebrate Easter this month. I want to wish all my brothers and their families a happy Easter. We still have a quarter of our fraternal year to go, and there is lots to do.

Your Council looks forward to completion of the following:

3ominations and Elections

Our April meeting is your nomination meeting, with elections to follow at the May meeting. I encourage all brothers to consider whether they can contribute to your Council's continued success by participating on the executive, or by supporting your executive and council this upcoming year.

Scholarships

Applications for this Council's annual scholarships are again available in the Parish office. Watch for announcements in the church bulletin. The Ontario State office offers 5 scholarships of $1,000 each for members, their wives, or children for the 1st year attendance at a post secondary educational institution. Applications and eligibility rules are available online at ontariokofc.ca/bursary, and they must be submitted by May 15. This is available in addition to your Council's scholarships, so if you qualify you can apply for both.

State Lottery tickets

All our tickets are sold out this year. I have been approached by several people who were disappointed they did not get a chance to purchase one. Thanks for your support on this project.

Golf day

Brother Dave Pellizzari continues to work diligently making this annual day both fun and a good fundraiser for your Council. He needs help with getting hole sponsors and of course we can always accommodate more golfers. Thanks Dave for all his hard work.

Picnic

Planning is continuing for the church picnic which will be in September. Lots of help is needed the day of, but help is also needed in the planning stage. Consider whether you can get involved.

Other programs

Bingos continue year round. Thanks to Jack Regnier and his team who work this fundraiser to support this Council's charitable works in the community. They could always use additional volunteers. Contact Jack Regnier to volunteer. Training is provided.

Planning is currently needed for other programs that start in the fall. Programs to consider assisting on include soccer challenge, If you can help please contact me about these programs.

Recruitment Let us not forget that recruitment is an essential part of the lifeblood of our Council. Don't be afraid to ask someone if they would like to join our Council. Come out to a meeting, have dinner with your Brothers and see what your Council is doing and consider how you can be involved! "Vivat Jesus"

Honk If You Love Jesus - Submitted by Ted Kummer The other day I went to the local religious book store, where I saw HONK IF YOU LOVE JESUS bumper sticker. I bought it and put it on the back bumper of my car, and I'm really glad I did. What an uplifting experience followed. I was stopped at the light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord, and didn't notice the light had changed. That bumper sticker really worked! I found lots of people who love Jesus. Why, the guy behind me started to honk like crazy. He must REALLY love the Lord because pretty soon, he leaned out his window and yelled, "Jesus Christ!!" as loud as he could. It was like a football game with him shouting, "GO JESUS CHRIST, GO!!!" Everyone else started honking, too, so I leaned out my window and waved and smiled to all of those loving people. There must have been a guy from Florida back there because I could here him yelling something about a sunny beach, and saw him waving in a funny way with only his middle finger in the air. I asked my two kids what that meant. They kind of squirmed, looked at each other, giggled and told me it was the Hawaiian good luck sign. So, I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back. Several cars behind, a very nice black man stepped out of his car and yelled something. I couldn't hear him very well, but it sounded like, "Mother trucker," or "Mother's from there." Maybe he was from Florida, too. He must really love the Lord. A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and were walking toward me. I bet they wanted to pray, but just then I noticed that the light had changed, and stepped on the gas. And a good thing I did, because I was the only driver to get across the intersection. I looked back at them standing there. I leaned way out the window, gave them a big smile and held up the Hawaiian good luck sign as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks.

Things to ponder over a cup of coffee - Submitted by Robert Paquette

To start your day off in an intellectual way, here are a few of life’s mysteries to ponder over coffee. 1. Ever wonder about those people who spend $5.00 each on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards: NAIVE 2. Isn't making a smoking section in a restaurant like making a peeing section in a swimming pool? (My sentiments exactly!) 3. If 4 out of 5 people SUFFER from diarrhea does that mean that one person enjoys it? 4. If people from Poland are called Poles, why aren't people from Holland called Holes? 5. If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled? 6. Why do croutons come in airtight packages? Aren't they just stale bread to begin with? 7 Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist but a person who drives a race car is not called a racist? 8. Why isn't the number 11 pronounced onety one? 9. If lawyers are disbarred and clergymen defrocked, doesn't it follow that electricians can be delighted, musicians denoted, cowboys deranged, models deposed, tree surgeons de-barked, and dry cleaners depressed? 10. If Fed Ex and U.P.S. were to merge, would they call it Fed UP? 11. Do Lipton Tea employees take coffee breaks? 12. What hair color do they put on the driver's licenses of bald men? 13. I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older; then it dawned on me ... they're cramming for their final exam. 14. I thought about how mothers feed their babies with tiny little spoons and forks, so I wondered what

do Chinese mothers use? Toothpicks? 15. Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do, write

to them? Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen

can look for them while they deliver the mail? 16. If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for? 17. You never really learn to swear until you learn to drive.

Hello my fellow Brothers and friends. Well spring has finally arrived. I want to say thank you to all the bingo volunteers that come out. Your assistance is very much appreciated.

Our Chefs Mike Trepanier, Ron Barnhard and Jack Regnier have been doing an amazing job preparing the meals at the General Meetings. For those you have not attended a meal you have no idea what you are missing. Please come out to the General meetings and enjoy great food and great brotherhood. Well it’s off to Niagara Falls for the annual Knights of Columbus Ontario State Convention at the end of April for our Grand Knight Paul Lauzon and Deputy Grand Knight Fred Anderson. With the amount of hard work that this council performs day in and day out for our Church and Community, this should bring in a few awards this year as it has in the past. Without your volunteer hours to assist the council, we would be nowhere. We are strong because of the volunteers and their families that make this council so great. Thank you my brothers. Please remember that our monthly bingo’s are our main source of income for our local Church and Community so it is very crucial that we realize how important it is to come out and assist when you can. Even if only for one session. Thank you to the new members that show up and are being cross-trained. Believe me we have a lot of fun and laughs as we work.

Ballad of the unborn……………April 2019

My shining feet will never run On early morning lawn; My feet were crushed before they had A chance to greet the dawn My fingers will never stretch To touch the winning tape; My race was done before I learned The smallest steps to take My growing height will never be Recorded on a wall; My growth was stopped when I was still Unseen and very small My lips and tongue will never taste The good fruits of the earth; For I myself was judged to be A fruit of little worth

My eyes will never scan the sky For my high-flying kite; For when still blind, destroyed were they In the black womb of the night I'll never stand upon a hill Spring winds in my hair; Aborted winds of thought closed in On motherhood's despair I'll never walk the shores of life Or know the tides of time; For I was coming but unloved, And that my only crime Nameless am I, a grain of sand One of the countless dead, But the deed that make me ashen grey Floats on seas of red

Wilds World..April 2019 When you are bored just think about a few things that don't make sense ...like.... 1. If poison expires, is it more poisonous or is it no longer poisonous? 2. Which letter is silent in the word "Scent," the S or the C? 3. Do twins ever realize that one of them is unplanned? 4. Why is the letter W, in English, called double U? Shouldn't it be called double V?

5. Maybe oxygen is slowly killing you and It just takes 75-100 years to fully work. 6. Every time you clean something, you just make something else dirty. 7. The word "swims" upside-down is still "swims" 8. 100 years ago everyone owned a horse and only the rich had cars. Today everyone has cars and only the rich own horses. 9. If you replace "W" with "T" in "What, Where and When", you get the answer to each of them.

Great confusions still unresolved.... 1. At a movie theater, which arm rest is yours? 2. If people evolve from monkeys, why are monkeys still around? 3. Why is there a 'D' in fridge, but not in refrigerator? 4. Who knew what time it was when the first clock was made?

Wonder why the word funeral starts with FUN? Why isn't a Fireman called a Water-man?

How come Lipstick doesn't do what it says?

If money doesn't grow on trees, how come Banks have Branches?

If a Vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a Humanitarian eat?

How do you get off a non-stop Flight?

Why are goods sent by ship called CARGO and those sent by truck SHIPMENT?

Why do we put cups in the dishwasher and the dishes in the Cupboard?

Why do doctors 'practice' medicine? Why is it called 'Rush Hour' when traffic moves at its slowest then?

How come Noses run and Feet smell?

Why do they call it a TV 'set' when there is only one?

What are you vacating when you go on a vaca-tion? We can never find the answers, can we? So just enjoy the pun and fun of the English language!! Gobtained from a recent e-mail

Once upon a time there was a girl who had four friends. She loved the fourth friend the most and adorned him with rich robes and treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but the best.

She also loved the third friend very much and was always showing him off to neighbouring kingdoms. However, she feared that one day he would leave her for another.

She also loved her second friend. He was her confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with her. Whenever this girl faced a problem, she could confide in him, and he would help her get through the difficult times.

The girl's first friend was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she did not love the first friend, although he loved her deeply, she hardly took notice of him!

One day, the girl fell ill and she knew her time was short. She thought of her luxurious life and wondered, 'I now have four friends with me, but when I die, will I be alone?' Thus, she asked the fourth friend, 'I loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'No way!' replied the fourth friend, and he walked away without another word. His answer cut like a sharp knife right into her heart.

The sad girl then asked the third friend, 'I loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'No!' replied the third friend. 'Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to marry someone else!' Her heart sank and turned cold.

She then asked the second friend, 'I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?' 'I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time... At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave.' His answer struck her like a bolt of lightning, and the girl was devastated.

Then a voice called out: 'I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go.' The girl looked up, and there was her first friend. He was very skinny as he suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly grieved, the girl said, 'I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!'

In truth, you have four friends in your lives: Your fourth friend is your body. No matter how much time and effort you lavish in making it look good, it will leave you when you die.

Your third friend is your possessions, status and wealth. When you die, it will all go to others. Your second friend is your family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for you, the furthest they can stay by you is up to the grave.

And your first friend is your spirit. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, your spirit is the only thing that will follow you wherever you go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of you that will follow you to the throne of God and continue with you throughout eternity. Thought for the day: Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray. Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.
