Fourth Sunday of Lent March 22, 2020 [ 2 ] SAINT CLARE of ASSISI PARISH Every miracle Jesus performed was always meant to teach his audience about some basic tenets of their faith. However, some people were only emoonally excited to the extent that they even mistook the Messiah for a "wonder-worker" and consequently missed the lesson being taught. Today's miracle, where Jesus restores the sight of a man born blind portrays to us how the man regained his sight, on the one hand, and also the lesson on how to see, on the other. While the self-righteous people condemned the man for being blind because of the sins of his parents, Jesus, "The Light of the World" offered him hope and love. Jesus teaches us to take personal responsibilies for our sins. It's no longer "Our parents ate the sour grapes and our teeth are on edge". This will eventually help us go a long way as we strive to make sense of every life situaon, by seeing the hand of God in all of them, both good and challenging. We do not just stop at lamenng about our predicaments but strive to change the situaon for the beer through our own human efforts and the grace of God. Being opmisc about the future is good but not sufficient. We need to see Jesus as the one who opens our eyes, minds, and hearts to the greatness and graciousness of our God. Like the man born blind, we can either choose Jesus and his ways of love or choose a life that is devoid of love. But whatever way we choose there is a corresponding responsibility that comes with it. Finally, let's pray that God will keep us safe during this challenge of the coronavirus and other challenges to our life and faith. Fr. Grace

Every miracle Jesus performed was always meant to teach his audience about some basic tenets of their faith. However, some people were only emotionally excited to the extent that they even mistook the Messiah for a "wonder-worker" and consequently missed the lesson being taught. Today's miracle, where Jesus restores the sight of a man born blind portrays to us how the man regained his sight, on the one hand, and also the lesson on how to see, on the other. While the self-righteous people condemned the man for being blind because of the sins of his parents,

Jesus, "The Light of the World" offered him hope and love. Jesus teaches us to take personal responsibilities for our sins. It's no longer "Our parents ate the sour grapes and our teeth are on edge". This will eventually help us go a long way as we strive to make sense of every life situation, by seeing the hand of God in all of them, both good and challenging. We do not just stop at lamenting about our predicaments but strive to change the situation for the better through our own human efforts and the grace of God. Being optimistic about the future is good but not sufficient.

WEEK AT A GLANCE

USCCB Priority Resources as

Regards to COVID-19 Through the good leadership of our shepherds, the Church is experiencing the remarkable grace of spiritual closeness from a distance. To the extent you may find it helpful, the Conference has been collecting examples of how our community of faith has sought to remain with one another in prayer during these difficult times. You may find the list here: http://www.usccb.org/coronavirus In the days ahead, we will update this page as we find and you share additional resources. USCCB Public Affairs and Episcopal Resources teams are partnering also with the Office of Divine Worship, the Office of Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, and other Conference colleagues to develop new resources to help the faithful in our home prayer. These are being prepared for Catholic Current. Those resources are here: https://catholiccurrent.org/covid19/

In light of growing concerns and new direc-tives from the medical experts for the safety of all, Youth Ministry will cancel face-to-face, physical gatherings and events until further notice. However, we will be scheduling virtual online gatherings and events.

These are trying and fearful times. It is times like these that we need our faith more than

ever. It is through faith and support of each other that we can overcome the fear and make it

through. Therefore, through the wonderful

technologies now available to us, we will have virtual gatherings for discussions,

prayers, and other events. Visit our website
