As there are spikes in COVID-19 around the country, it seems prudent to give updated information regarding operations at Assumption.
Statistics as of June 29, 2020
Total population of St. Louis County = 998,692
St. Louis County COVID-19 cases = 5,520
Total population of 63128 = 29,832
COVID-19 cases in 63128 since March 16, 2020 = 75
Active cases reported at Assumption = 0
If you are infected with COVID-19 and have been on Assumption proper-ty while you were contagious, even if you have not had symptoms yet, please contact Fr. Keller so we can assist with contact tracing. Your anonymity will be respected.
Room capacity limits
Church = 300 (50% of total capacity) Church Lower Level = 65 (50% of total capacity) Fatima Room CLL = 12 (total capacity of the room to allow social distancing) Lourdes Room CLL = 12 (total capac-ity of the room to allow social distanc-ing) Rectory Basement = 12 (total capacity of the room to allow social distancing) We have added the School Courtyard and the Outdoor Classroom to the list of potential meeting places. Please bring your own chairs. Parish Meetings can resume again as long as the room capacity is not exceeded.

Mass guidelines
- Per Archbishop Carlson, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains temporarily lifted. - Individuals over 60 should weigh the threat of the virus with other health problems caused by isolation and inactivity. - Masks must be worn when entering an existing the church. - Masks can be removed when seated in the pew. - 6 feet distance should be observed between individuals or between non-family members when sitting in a pew, approaching Holy Communion, or conversing with others. Every other pew remains closed to encourage distancing. - Holy Communion may be received on the tongue only when given by Fr. Keller or Fr. Weber. - The Presentation of Offertory Gifts, the Sign of Peace and Communion under Both Kinds are suspended.
Funeral guidelines
- All funerals should follow the Mass guidelines given above. - Visitations are permitted for one hour prior to the Funeral Mass. - Funeral Luncheons are permitted in the Church Lower Level but only catered food is allowed.

Pastor’s Column Fr. Thomas Keller
Assumption is no stranger to funerals and normally the pastor’s column is not the place to eulogize individuals; but this week we buried Chris Maloney, the husband of Staci Maloney. He was the father of a recent 8th grade graduate, Jacob. Chris’ parents John and Therese are active Assumption parishioners, too. Chris’ family was committed to attending Holy Mass and he was a constant help to our parish and school. Chris helped with almost every parish event. He co-chaired our Parish Gala and Auction and he helped organize our Fish Fry to name just two of the many things he did here. No matter the occasion, whether he organized the event or simply attended it, he was often one of the first to arrive for set-up and one of the last to leave during clean-up. He gratefully thanked all the other volunteers like it was his responsibility. He had creative ideas to help the parish and never-ending strength to help others. Chris was a strong supporter of our parish ACTS retreats and willingly served on parish committees. I don’t know if Chris helped his friends become great supporters of the parish, or if committed parents and parishioners just gravitate together around a common cause, but Chris is one of so many incredible parishioners. We will all miss him. I want to take this opportunity, on behalf of Mrs. Skyora, our grade school principal, and our entire parish, school and ELC staff to thank Chris for being an amazing co-worker and friend. The average parishioner may not know the incredible effort Chris put into making Assumption a success, but every parishioner benefited from his work and we certainly owe him appreciation and prayers.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.

6:30 to 8:00 p.m. July 9th - Let’s Get Together Outdoors Let’s Get Together - Gathering in the Courtyard The next gathering will take place on Thursday, July 9, (please note the date change) in the Courtyard behind the School Building. Bring your lawn chair, bug spray, and a beverage in your own personal container. If you have a need to enter the Parish Center to use the restroom, you will need to wear a face mask.
Chair Exercises return on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning next week, July 7. Safety precautions in place! Please register for each exercise session prior to attending. To sign up, call the ASM General Mailbox 487.7970, ext. 1228 or go to Sign Up Genius at www.assumptionstl.org/senior-ministry . If something comes up, and you are not able to attend a session you previously registered for, please make the change on Sign Up Genius or leave a message on x1228. These sessions are limited to 10 participants and held in the St. Marie’s Hall (CLL) from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. If you’d like to use light weights, please bring your own. Your water container can be refilled at the fountain. All will be practicing common sense precautions, including: personal distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet separation, and face masks when entering & leaving the building. Remember, no campus activities include shared food and drinks at this time. On Thursday, July 9, we will have a special guest instructor, Jean Huelsing, registered nurse, fitness practition-er, and the founder of Camp Jump Start and CEO of Living Well Foundation. She teaches exercise classes in
baby steps, leading to good habits and ultimately creating rituals.
