GRADING PRACTICES 2019-2020
FORMATIVE: 40 % - Monitor, Provide Feedback, Differentiate
• Comprehension Checks
• Homework
• Quizzes
MAKE-UP WORK • Students may make up any and all assignments, tests or related work on the day(s) of any excused or unexcused absence
for full credit.
• The student is is responsible for asking the teacher(s) for make up tests, assignments and related work.
• Students will be given a minimum of two (2) calendar days per day or period of absence to make up all tests, assignments and related work.
• Students may be given a additional time as stipulated on their IEP or bases on teacher discretion. Work due to be turned in on the day of an absence will be turned in upon return and be given full credit.
• Students who have been assigned out-of-school suspension (OSS) may make up all tests, assignments and related work for full credit.
SUMMATIVE: 60 % - At Least 4 Per Quarter
• Chapter Tests
• Common Assessments
• Projects (NO Collaborative Grades)
STANDARDS-BASED GRADING All grades must be based on mastery of the standard
graded
• No grades awarded for completion, participation, or behavior
• No extra credit
• Assignment in myStudent labeled by name, date, and category
• Grades updated in myStudent weekly
SCHOOL-WIDE SUMMATIVE RETAKES
Students may retake a summative assessment one time as long as:
• The student completes PLC-designed remediation.
• The students have up to two (2) weeks from the original date the test is returned to complete retakes
• Once a student has completed remediation and a retake attempt, the lowest possible grade will be a 50%
LATE WORK If a student is in class when an
assignment is given, but fails to
turn the work in on the due date, the student may turn it in within
two (2) days for at least a 50 %.
