IntroductionContamination and degraded fluid quality cause inefficientoperation, component wear, and eventually failures in allhydraulic and lubrication systems. The products in thiscatalog are the tools that are needed to prevent suchoccurances. HYDAC Recommends a three step approachto controlling contamination in any system:
• Assess
• Recommend & Implement
• Monitor & Maintain
AssessStart by gathering complete information on the system. This includes:• a list of the most critical components• the mfg’s recommended ISO class for each component• the type of oil being used• flow rate & operating pressure• fluid temperature & ambient temperature• system’s operational characteristics• details on all current filters in the system• solid contamination levels (ISO class)• water content levels• details on all current filters in the system
Recommend & ImplementNext, specify your recommendations for upgradingthe current filtration, and adding the appropriatesupplementary filtration:• pressure filters• return line filters• manifold cartirdge/circuit protector filters• element micron rating• resorvoir breathers or filler breathers• strainer baskets• addition of offline filtration loop• use of portable filters for filling/temporary offline loops• sufficient water removal protection• proper fluid monitoring devices
Monitor & MaintainFinally, use reliable methods for continuous monitoring ofthe fluid conditions including:• solid contamination• water content• additive depletion• element clogging• periodic detailed analysis of actual fluid samples• portable filters for correcting unacceptable levels

DescriptionThe FCU 2000 Series Fluid Control Unit is the second generation of diagnostic equipment for measuring and controlling contamination in hydraulic and lubrication systems. These Units are portable, which makes them ideal for use on multiple machines in a plant, or in-the-fielduse. The rugged construction incorporates a folding handlewhich also serves as a prop stand for optimal viewing.
Online MeasurmentA key advantage of the FCU is that it allows the user tomeasure changes in contamination instantaneously as theyoccur. The unit continuously detects solid particles and displays the results in cleanliness classes according to ISO4406 (1992 or 1999), SAE AS 4059 or NAS 1638 standards.
Tank Extraction/Bottle SamplingThe FCU 2000-4 model is equipped with a specific suctioninlet and an integrated pump for reservoir and bottle extraction,in addition to the standard online measurement capability.
Comprehensive ReportingMeasurements are automatically stored in memory and canbe used to print tabular and graphic reports in a wide varietyof formats. Although extensive functions for data recordingand documentation are available, clear built-in menus makeit easy for a user to develop highly informative reports withminimal training.
PC CapabilityFor many applications, the built-in printer will produce thenecessary reports. In addition, data can be transmitted to aPC via an RS232C interface, providing the user with flexibilityin analysis with the supplied FCUDESK software package,or with standard packages like MS-EXCEL.
Contamination ControlBy means of control software, the user can program theFCU to activate an auxiliary filtration unit through built-inrelays when contamination reaches a specified maximumlevel. This makes it possible to control system cleanlinessreliably and automatically.
The FCU also can be programmed to de-activate an off-lineunit when contamination reaches a preset target level, anespecially useful feature in flushing operations.

DescriptionThe CS Contamination Sensor is a new solid contaminationsensor for detecting and monitoring solid contamination inhydraulic, lube and fuel oil. The CS Sensor continuouslymonitors the condition of the fluid and transmits the infor-mation to a variety of devices in real-time!
The data can be transmitted in various formats, allowingthe user to display contamination levels, program alarmsand/or warnings, activate or de-activate auxiliary filtrationloops, or examine via HYDAC software.
The Sensor technology used is the same as that in ourportable FCU series contamination monitors and has beenproven as a successful means of detecting solid contami-nation particles.
The HYDAC sensor concept provides a distinct durabilityadvantage. The CS Sensor is NOT sensitive to vibration, optical system contamination, pressure pulsations, fluidcolor, turbidity, or continuous high fluid temperatures.
ApplicationsThis unit can be applied to any hydraulic system in whichcontamination monitoring is critical. It is designed for per-manent installation in the system. Common applications ofthe CS Sensor Include:
• Lube-oil systems

DescriptionThe AS2000 series AquaSensors are stationary, microprocessorbased measurement units for the continuous monitoring ofthe water saturation level and temperature in hydraulic andlubrication systems. The saturation level indicates the percentage of maximum possible water is dissolved in theoil. A reading of 0% would indicate an oil free of water, while a reading of 100% would indicate oil that is saturatedwith water. The saturation level and temperature are reportedcontinuously to the integrated display and alarm relays andcan be captured via PLC, PC, etc.
Water in OilIt is almost certain that there is water present in hydraulicand lubrication systems. These systems should be operatedwithout the presence of free or emulsified water. The mostcommon sources of water entering a system are ambienthumidity, “splash” from process water, and new oil. Watercontamination will accelerate the aging process of the oilresulting in oil oxidization, additive depletion, reduced lubrication, corrosion and damaged components. Most ofthese costly problems can be avoided by monitoring thewater content of the operating fluids.
Sometimes the water content is difficult to determine, butwith the new AquaSensor, determining the amount of wateris easy! The most practical method for monitoring watercontent in oil is as a percent of the saturation level.Different oils are capable of dissolving varying amounts ofwater, therefore they have varying water saturation curves. The curve to the right is an example of the typical relationship of water saturation level versus fluid temperature in hydraulic and lubrication oils. By looking atthe example graph it can be seen that this fluid is capableof holding more water, or has a higher saturation level, asthe temperature increases.

HMG 2020 Portable Data Recorder
The HMG 2020 generally distinguishes between threemeasurement options:
1. Normal measurementPurely a display function where the measured values aredisplayed immediately.Ex: When HMG is measuring with pressure sensors to actas a digital gauge.
2. Curve measurementThe measured values are displayed and simultaneouslystored continuously in the internal memory. The coursesof the curves can be printed out on the printer as soonas measuring has stopped, or transferred to a PC andviewed with the software.
3. Log measurementThe measured values are displayed and can be stored aslog entries in the internal memory. This method of meas-urement is used primarily for long-term measurements(e.g. one week, one month, one year etc.). The log entries canbe printed out on a printer as soon as measuring hasstopped, or transferred to a PC.
The internal memory can store up to 50 different curves andlogs with 250,000 measured values in total.
To optimize your measurements the unit has a wide varietyof additional functions:
• Choice of languageThe user may define which language the unit will displaythe data and parameters.
• Two trigger possibilitiesDefinition of events which start a curve measurement orwhich, on a log measurement, transfer the current measuredvalues to memory.Ex: A curve is to be recorded when the temperatureexceeds 50°C or the system pressure falls below 25 bar.The two triggers can in addition be linked together logically(and/or following one another chronologically), so that data isrecorded exactly at the required moment.
Ordering Information:Standard American Unit: HMG 2020 - 004 - ECall your distributor for details on available options
DescriptionThe HMG 2020 is a portable data recorder for recording pressure, temperature, flow rate, rpm etc. in industrial machinery and systems(e.g. hydraulics, pneumatics). The HMG 2020 can record the measured valuesfrom up to five sensors simultaneously.• 2 inputs for 4 to 20 mA sensors
• 2 inputs for either 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V sensors
• 1 frequency input for digital signals in the range 0.3 to 30,000 Hz
• The measurement range and the unit for each sensor can be set as required(e.g. 0 to 250 bar, -25° to 100°C, 0 to 217 KN). Therefore, the majority of commer-cially available sensors with standard output signals can be connected andevaluated.
• As well as the current measured values, the unit also records the minimumand maximum values, in addition to the differential between two sensors ofthe same type.

HMGWINThe HMGWIN PC program expands the measurement options ofthe portable HMG 2020 data recorder. HMGWIN is compatiblewith Windows 95/98/NT, user friendly, an interactive softwarepackage that allows the user to download the stored data andstudy it in greater detail.
For the user who wishes to store or further evaluate the recordedmeasurement curves and measurement logs, this HMGWIN providesa range of useful functions.
Features:
• Transfer and Storage of curves and logsfrom the HMG 2020 to a PC.
• Viewing of up to 4 different recorded curve orlog measurements simultaneously on the monitor.
• Superimposition of curvesParts of different curves can be superimposed in a new graph, for example to show the wear and tear of a machine (new condi-tion/current condition).
• Straight edge functionAs with a straight edge, you can measure the curves using themouse (exact time and amplitude value). Absolute measured val-ues and also relative measured values (measurement in relation toa set marker) can be displayed.
• Zoom functionUsing the mouse, part of a graph can be framed. The framedarea appears as a new graph, enlarged accordingly.
• Online functionThe portable data recorder measures and transfers the currentmeasured values straight onto the PC. These are then immedi-ately displayed as a graph in realtime (comparable with the function of an oscilloscope). Thegraph displayed can be stored if there are any interesting results.
• Portable data recorderSettings can be transferred to the PC and may be stored. Thereverse is also possible, so, for example, settings for takingmeasurements on a particular machine can be fed into theHMG 2020 again and again.
• Data conversionHMGDESK can convert the HMG 2020 data into some otherdata formats. This means, for example, that the recordedcurves can be transferred to many other PC programs (spread-sheets, database, word processing etc.) and further processed.

Cleanliness of the sample bottles makes this program suit-able for robots, test stands, and other hydraulic systemsrequiring extremely clean fluid.
Fluid sample pumps are also available from HYDAC.Sample bottles thread directly to sampling pump.
Scheduling Analysis of Hydraulic FluidsDue to the drastic differences in hydraulic systems andoperating conditions, there are no set guidelines as to therequired frequency of fluid analysis.
Operating conditions are another major factor when con-sidering schedules for analysis. High temperature operationand dusty conditions both require frequent fluid sampling.
The proper schedule for fluid analysis can be determinedby the actual fluid condition. The HYDAC Fluid Analysisreport usually recommends a re-sample in a specific timeas needed. Analysis schedules vary from every two weeksin extreme conditions to semi-annually or annually in idealconditions. The average system will require analysis on aquarterly basis.

ISO Code And GraphThis measurement is made by running the hydraulic samplesthrough a ROYCO model 366 Particle Counter programmedto measure five selected ranges with each range reportingthe number of particles above a particular size micronrating. The ISO Code represents an improvement in thearea of fluid contamination control. For the first time, themanufacturer or user of fluid equipment can specify systemneeds that are interpretable worldwide. Furthermore, theISO code applies to all types of fluid systems.
The procedure is described in ISO 4406: 1987 (E)Hydraulic Fluid Power – Fluids – Method for Coding Levelof Contamination by Solid Particles. ISO 4406 is a three-digit number that represents the cumulative counts permillimeter of fluid at 2, 5, and 15 microns. The counts ateach size are compared to a table to find a contaminationscale number. The code is written as three numbers withslashes between them (for example: 19/17/14 or 23/20/18).The first number represents the scale number at 2 µm, thesecond number represents the scale number at 5 µm, andthe third number represents the scale number at 15 µm.
The ISO code value for the fluid sample should be appliedto the ISO code operating limits established by the oilsuppliers and the manufacturer of the hydraulic equipment.
Wear Metals Silicon & AdditivesWear metals, silicon, and additive concentrations aremeasured simultaneously in either of our four instruments:Spectrometer, MOA, ICP, or FAS2C, which excites eachelement (a metal, silicon, or additive) by heating the oil filmto approximately 4000°F and measuring the emitted energyat a frequency for each element. The spectrometer measuresall particles in suspension in the oil. The results arereported in Parts Per Million (ppm). This measurementshould not be confused with Particle Count. Concentrationsare noted as N (normal), A (abnormal), or S (severe).
WaterWater is initially measured by the Gulf 797 Spat method.Samples with positive indications of water are tested bythe Karl Fischer (ASTM D-1744) method. Water concentrationis reported to a sensitivity of 1 ppm.
ViscosityThe viscosity test is run by ASTM D-445 at 40°C, reported in Centistokes.
Total Acid Number (TAN)This optional test is run only upon request and at anextra charge to determine the Neutralization number. Themethod is ASTM D-664. This measurement is used inconjunction with viscosity measurements and solid particlecontamination measurements to determine if oxidation isoccurring.
Diagnostic StatementThe sample information form in each HYDAC fluid analysiskit asks the important information such as total hours, hours on oil, brand, and type of fluid, make and model ofequipment, etc. With this information and the results fromthe laboratory, analysis formulate a “plain english” statementwhich says:
• Is there a problem?
• If so, the level of severity (normal, abnormal, or severe)
• Probable cause
• Recommended corrective action (improved filtration, addoff-line filtration, change filter elements, change oil, etc.)
On severe problems a “No Charge” phone call is made theday the sample is finished. An “Explanation of yourHydraulic Report” sheet is provided to explain the test incondensed format.

Status and RecommendationsCorrective actions are recommended when applicable. Thestatus of the sample is rated in three categories:
• Normal - System is operating within the parametersestablished by baseline data & prior samples.
- System requires no immediate action.
• Caution - System is operating outside of caution limitsin one or more areas.
- System requires scheduled maintenance.
• Critical - System is operating outside of critical limitsin one or more areas.
- System requires immediate attention.
Particle Count and ISO CodesParticle contamination is responsible for most of the wearin hydraulic systems. The level of contamination is determinedautomatically by a laser particle counter. The results areshown as the cumulative counts per milliliter of fluidaccording to ISO 4406:1987. (For water glycol fluids the patchtest photo is used to estimate the ISO code). The current sampleISO code is displayed with the target ISO code. The targetis based on the cleanliness level required for the most sensitive component in the system. An increase of 1 ISOdigit is considered a caution limit and an increase of twoISO digits is critical. The results are also graphed for easydetection of increased particle contamination. The accompanying chart lists components and target ISOcleanliness levels. When the target ISO code is exceeded, improvement of the system filtration, elimination of thesource of ingression or installation of auxiliary off-line filtration is required (eg. By using HYDAC Betamicron‚ orECOmicron‚ quality filters, oil care and diagnostic systems).
Water ContentHigh water content in oil encourages oxidation, corrosionand cavitation. The Karl Fischer Method in accordance withASTM D 1744-92 determines the water content, which isdisplayed in parts per million (PPM) and percent (%). Thecritical upper limit is displayed for comparison purposes.(Water glycol fluids normally have upper and lower limits that areset to manufacturer’s specifications). The results are alsographed for easy identification of abnormal results. In general, water contents of up to 500 ppm are not criticalfor the operation of hydraulic and lubrication systems. When the water content exceeds approx. 500 ppm the system should be protected against water penetration andmeasures should be introduced to extract water from theoil (e.g. by using HYDAC Aquamicron‚ elements for water absorp-tion or by using the thin-layer evaporation unit HYDACFluidAqua‚Mobil (FAM)).
ViscosityMaintaining the correct viscosity is important for achievinglong component service life. Viscosity is reported in centistokes (cSt.) @ 40oCelsius as per ASTM D 445-97.The data is displayed along with warning limits. Typicallythe limits are based on new oil data. Caution limits are calculated at +/- 10% new oil viscosity and critical limits at+/-15% new oil viscosity. (Water glycol fluids can have limitsset similarly but the water content should also be monitored aschanges in it also affect the viscosity. The manufacturer should beconsulted). Graphs showing the viscosity trends along withlimits allow for quick recognition of abnormal situations. When large changes in viscosity are detected a partialdrain of the affected oil and adding fresh fluid may correctthe problem. However in some instances a complete oilchange may be required.
Total Acid Number (TAN) *not applicable toContamination Analysis or Water Glycol Kits
Oxidation is the primary mechanism of oil degradation. TheTAN measures the corrosive acidic by-products of oxida-tion. TAN results are reported in mg/g KOH (PotassiumHydroxide). Since all hydraulic fluids have some inherentacidic properties any increases in TAN must be comparedto the new oil value as a baseline. Typically caution limitsare set at +0.6 new oil value and critical limits are set at+1.0 new oil value. Certain application specific fluids mayrequire limits set to manufacturer specifications. The resultsare graphed along with the limits to clearly show when oiloxidation has increased above acceptable levels. When theTAN has increased above the critical level, the oil should bechanged immediately to prevent damage from occurring toyour equipment.

Spectrographic Analysis *not applicable to Contamination Analysis or Water Glycol Kits
Additive, wear metal and contaminant levels are displayed in parts-per-million (PPM). The oil sample is analyzed foreighteen different elements. The results are also graphically displayed for easy detection of increasing or decreasinglevels. The manufacturer blends additives into the oil in different forms and quantities. The additive package varies with the oil type. Wear metals indicate wear on particularcomponents of an individual unit. These metals will indicate a wear problem on the microscopic level (< 8 microns)before the problem can be detected by conventional means. The existence of a wear problem is determined byabsolute values of metals, and more importantly, by a relative increase or trend in one or more metals. Contaminantscan be an indicator of internal or external contamination. The source and amount can be determined by a compari-son with new oil data. Below is a list of additive types, wear metal and contaminant sources.
Patch Test / Contamination PhotoThe particulate contaminants are separated from the oil sample by vacuum filtration and are examined microscopi-cally. The photo of the resulting “patch” is displayed. The particles are described and identified (if possible). Thepatch test provides valuable visual evidence of the contamination in the oil. The patch can also be used to estimatethe ISO code for water glycol samples.

ApplicationsThe OF5 Filter Carts are used to transfer and filter hydraulicfluids at a rate of 10 or 15 gpm.
Typical applications are to:
• Filter particles and/or water from new oil while filling areservoir.
• Recirculate and filter oil during start-up, when contami-nation is often heaviest.
• Recirculate and filter oil off-line on systems with inade-quate filtering capacity.
• Empty a storage tank or reservoir.
• OF5 Carts are ideal for use in industrial plants and inother demanding applications because of their efficien-cy, capacity, and durability.
DescriptionTwo filter assemblies are staged in series so that all oilflows first through stage 1, then through stage 2 (eachassembly consists of one head and two elements). A key advantage is that the OF5 incorporates four elements toincrease the dirt-holding capacity. Moreover, the OF5 permits the use of different types of elements in eachstage, making it possible to:
A) remove particles in stage 1 and water in stage 2, or
B) remove coarse particles in stage 1 and fine particles instage 2.
PerformanceHYDAC is recognized as a leader in the manufacture ofhigh-efficiency, high-capacity, absolute-rated fiberglass filters. Our Betamicron® 3 elements maintain Beta ratios inexcess of 200, meaning that they are able to remove a highpercentage of particles quickly and effectively.
As a result, the cart is capable of:
A) cleaning new oil to a low level of contamination before itis introduced into the system and
B) cleaning oil in a reservoir with a minimum number of circulation passes.
The cart is designed to capture a large quantity of particulatesbecause of the high retention capacity of the filter mediaand use of multiple, extended-length spin-on elements.

The contamination of hydraulic fluids with water can eitherbe caused by condensation or by penetration. Variations intemperature of the hydraulic tank lead to condensation. The penetration of water can be caused by defective coolinghoses, defective seals or external leakages into the system.
In lubrication and hydraulic fluids water can occur in twodifferent forms:
• free water (visible)
• dissolved water (not visible)
Aquamicron®, centrifuges and condensation methods normally only separate free water, the FAM separates bothforms of water from the oil. While dewatering the fluid, dissolved gases are also removed. Thereby the lubricatingproperties are improved which extends oil life, reducescomponent wear rates, and eliminates production lossescaused by breakdowns.

free and emulsified water

Negative Effects of Water on Oils:It is almost certain that there is water in a hydraulic system. The most frequent causes are: ambient humidity, splashwater, and new oil. Mineral based oils show a faster aging process, if there is water in the oil. This aging process is accel-erated through contamination particles by a catalytic effect. The additives are quickly used up and the lifetime of theoperating fluid is much shorter than that of "dry" oil.
Water in Mineral Oil causes:• Ageing of the fluid
• Fluid deterioration
- Reduced air separating results in: Cavitation
- Increased foaming results in: Cavitation
- Reduced lubrication results in: Vibration & Wear
- Erratic operation results in: Inaccuracy
• Depletes additives
• Clogged filters
Water in Ester Oils causes:• Hydrolysis
• Seal deterioration
• Leakage
FAM Sizing:Sizing of the FAM is normally donethrough periodic measuring of thewater content which will determinethe hourly ingestion of water. Thetypical dewatering speed of theFAM is listed in the technical datatable on page 2. If there is a con-tinuous ingression of water (i.e.condensation) the recommendedflow rate of the FAM can be deter-mined by the the system size (totalgallons.) It should circulate 3 or 4times through the FAM every day.
*Please note that the fluid temperatureshould be a minimum of 20°F warmer thanthe ambient air temperature to enable effi-cient dewatering. An inline heater is avail-able for reclaim applications. Please contactour sales/technical department.

Drawing and Dimensions:
Water Extraction ProcessThe operating fluid is drawn from the oil reservoir by the vacuum inthe reactor through the suction strainer and the shut-off valve. Theoil trickles down slowly and from there is fed back into the oil reservoirby the gear pump through the filter. When Dimicron filter elementtechnology is used the unit is especially economical.
Water is removed from the fluid in the reactor. The vacuum presenthas the effect of reducing the boiling point of the water.
The water vapor is released into the atmosphere or the water reservoirthrough the vacuum pump.

Features and BenefitsThe OLF series of filters is designed to efficiently and costeffectively filter hydraulic oils, lubricating oils, cleaning fluidsand coolants which are highly contaminated. The filters canbe supplied either as individual filters or as ready-to-installoffline units complete with optional motor and pump units.
• Lower Operating Costs
• Extended Element Service Life
• Cleaner, more efficient systems
Dimicron® TechnologyDimicron® technology, which incorporates membrane filtration and multi-disc construction, sets the OLF apartfrom conventional filters by providing it with exceptionaldirt holding capacity and separation efficiency. Each filterelement is able to capture and hold more than 1 pound ofdirt, meaning that the OLF60, which uses four elements, will hold nearly 5 pounds of dirt. Membrane filtration provides the OLF with a separation efficiency over 99.9%for particles 2 micron and larger (ß2 > 1000) even in a single pass.
ApplicationsTypical applications include:
• Filling and flushing hydraulic units
• Filtration of fluids for hydraulic systems and test stands
• Filtration of cleaning fluids for parts washing machines
• Filtration of coolants
Dimicron® ElementThe synthetic membrane (2µm absolute) provides a high filtration rating while the cellulose filter layer collects andholds the bulk of the dirtload. This combination results inexcellent removal efficiency, even in a single pass, andextremely high dirt holding capacity.

Sizing Offline FiltrationThe following calculations will help to approximate the attainable system cleanliness level when applying offline filtration.
Step 1: Select the approximate contamination ingression rate fromthe chart below. HYDAC quantitative investigations have yielded the following approximate figures.
Step 2: Make the correction required for offline filtration. The contamination input selected above must be multiplied by the factor:
Main System Flow Rate / Desired Offline Flow Rate
Note: Main system flow rate must be corrected for cycle time. For example, if the flow rate is 500 gpm, but only runs for20% of the system cycle, the main system flow rate would be 100 gpm. (500 gpm X 20%)
This yields the expression:
Contamination Factor = Contamination Input (µg/gal) x Main System Flow Rate (gpm)
Desired Offline Flow Rate (gpm)
Calculate the contamination factor using this expression.
Step 3: Determine the attainable cleanliness level. Locate the calculated contamination factor on the y-axis of the attachedgraph. Go to the right to find the intersection point on the curve corresponding to the desired absolute filter micron rating.Read the resulting attainable cleanliness level on the x-axis. (In case of dynamic flow through the offline filter, the attainablecleanliness level will be 2 to 3 times worse than indicated by the graph.)
Offline Filtration Sizing ExampleType of System: Heavy industrial press
Surroundings: Normal
Main System Flow Rate: 150 GPM
Desired Offline Flow Rate: 16 GPM (OLF 60)
Step 1: Using this criterion select the approximate contamination ingression rate from the chart above.
This yields a contamination input of 18 µg/gal based on a heavy industrial press with normal surroundings.
Step 2: Make the correction required for offline filtration.
Contamination Factor = 18 µg/gal x 150 gpm / 20 gpm = 135
Step 3: Determine the approximate attainable cleanliness level for each micron rating using the attached graph. If theattainable cleanliness level is not acceptable, the desired offline flow rate should be increased. The approximate attainablelevels for this example are as follows.

HYDAC offers a complete range of interchange elementsfor all major manufacturers. To quickly and easily searchfor an interchange for any manufacturer, please visit:
BN/AM filter elements are specifically designed to absorb water and achieve absolute filtration ofsolid particles from mineral oils, HFD-R oils, and rapidly biodegradable oils. A super absorberreacts with the water present in the fluid and expands to form a gel from which the water can nolonger be extracted even by increasing the system pressure. These filter elements do not removedissolved water below the saturation level of the hydraulic medium. Solid particle filtration (3 µm,10 µm absolute) is achieved due to the Betamicron® filter construction. For complete details please contact your HYDAC distributor.
Aquamicron® filter elements are specially designed to separate water from mineral oils. They areonly supplied in the dimensions of HYDAC return line filter elements from size 330 and larger. This means that they can be installed in all HYDAC filter housings from size 330 which are fittedwith return line filter elements. The increasing pressure loss in a filter element which is being saturated with water indicates, bymeans of standard clogging indicators, that it is time to change the element. When theAquamicron® technique is employed, particle contaminants are also separated from the hydraulicmedium as a by-product. This means that the Aquamicron® element doubles as a safety filter. The "filtration rating" is 40 µm absolute (ß40 ≥ 100 to ∆p = 3 bar).In order to guarantee the greatest efficiency, it is recommended that these elements be installed inan off-line recirculation loop configuration. For complete details please contact your HYDAC distributor.
