Part 3.1 What is the risk of a Fire occurring.

This is a normal risk environment.

Main risks of Fire are:

Smoking1.Use of Candles2.Items placed too near wood burning Stove3.Items placed on Electric Storage Heaters4.Cooking5.Faulty Electrical Components6.Faulty Electronic Equipment.7.Arson8.

Part 3.2 What is the risk to people from a fire starting in the premises.

Fire starting whilst occupants are awake should be quickly noticed andevacuation should be quick to the outside.Fire starting within the Kitchen and the other areas whilst the occupantsare asleep could develop and spread undetected, therefore a linked Alarmsystem is required.Fire in the Kitchen is most likely and can spread especially if the door isopen.Fire in the open plan areas can spread quickly due to the constructionbeing on three floors with open staircase.

Part 3.3 Reduce the Hazards that might cause Fire:

Ensure all portable appliances are regularly tested for PAT complianceEnsure all fixed electrical wiring is regularly tested.All equipment should be regularily maintainedEnsure the Cooker Hood is regularily maintainedEnsure all persons using the premises are aware of the safe use of theWood Burning Stove and the Storage Heaters.Discourage smoking.Keep the Rubbish Wheelie Bin away from the House.Ban the use of Candles.

Part 3.4 Remove and Reduce the risks to people if there is a fire

Fit and Maintain adequate Fire Extinguishers on advice of a specialistFirm (Castle Fire of Kendal)Fit adequate emergency Lighting.Fit and Maintain adequate fire detection systems on advice from aspecialist Firm (Castle Fire of Kendal) Ensure regular testing of Fire Detection system.Ensure all Furniture and Furnishings are suitably Fire RetardantEnsure as far as practicable the all doors fit as well as possible.
