It is an innovative solution aimed at facilitating affordability and reducing the cost of utilities.

This mechanism, essentially, requires the users to pay for the electricity before its consumption.

In this way, consumers hold credit and then use the electricity until the credit is exhausted.

If the available credit is exhausted then the supply of electricity is cut off by a relay.

8051 Micro-controller:

The AT89S52 is a low-power, high-performance 8-bit microcontroller

with 8K bytes of in-system programmable Flash memory. The device is manufactured using Atmel’s high-density

nonvolatile memory technology

Voltage Regulator: The voltage regulator used is 7805. The main function of 7805 is provide the voltage in

the range varying from 0 to +5v. It has mainly 3 pins.1st pin is input,2nd pin is ground

and 3rd pin is for output.

AT24C02: It is an external EEPROM memory.

These memory devices are used to store the data for off line process. The AT24C02 provides 2 Kb of serial electrically erasable and programmable read only memory (EEPROM). The device is optimized for use in many applications where low power and low voltage operation are essential.

RELAY: Relay is an electrically controllable switch. Relays

have two circuits: a Control circuit(shown in green) and a load circuit(shown in red). The control circuit has a small control coil while the load circuit has a switch. The coil controls the operation of the switch.

ULN2003: The ULN2003 is a monolithic high voltage and high

current Darlington transistor arrays. It consists of seven NPN darlington pairs that features

high-voltage outputs. Its main role is to control the triggering of the Relays.

LCD(16 2): LCD is Liquid Crystal Display . It provides a useful

interface for the user. It has two-line display with every line has 16 characters in it. The vital role of LCD is to display the status of device

This project work has been taken up which serves the purpose of energy monitoring and controlling by implementing prepaid system.
