FHN CONTENTSThe Farmworker Health Network (FHN) is comprised of six National Cooperative Agreements in migrant health funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to provide training and technical assistance to current and potential Migrant Health Center Programs. The FHN is committed to supporting the development of leadership within Community and Migrant Health Centers and increasing access to care for the farmworker population. We function as a trusted resource to health center staff and board, helping them to fulfill their capacity building needs, and to incorporate service delivery options which are designed to enhance care to farmworkers and their families. Collaboration among FHN members includes a team approach to addressing health center needs and bringing multiple areas of expertise to bear in problem solving. The FHN works to assure the visibility of the Migrant Health Program within HHS, and other governmental and private organizations through the articulation of issues, analysis and comment on proposed policy and procedural documents, dissemination of population specific information and provision of technical assistance services to address the need for information, training, and education.

PrioriTy ServiCeS AND ACTiviTieS:

✔ Provide capacity building assistance and training to

clinicians, outreach workers, promotores de salud and

others on occupational health, environmental health,

Hiv/AiDS and other priority health-related issues.

✔ educate and advocate on behalf of farmworkers to policy

makers and the public on issues concerning occupational

and environmental health, workers’ compensation,

access to health care, immigration, wages and working

conditions and other issues affecting farmworkers and

their families.

✔ Design, implement, and evaluate outreach and peer

education programs on occupational and environmental

health and Hiv/AiDS for farmworkers and their families.

✔ Develop curricula, educational materials, fact sheets,

reports and articles for a variety of audiences, including

clinicians, outreach workers, promotores de salud, policy

makers, the migrant community, and the public.

✔ Analyze legal developments, train farmworker legal

advocates, and represent farmworkers and their

organizations in lawsuits to enforce their rights regarding

labor, immigration and occupational safety and health.

MiSSioN STATeMeNT:The purpose of Farmworker Justice is to empower migrant

and seasonal farmworkers to improve their wages, working

conditions, occupational safety, health, immigration status,

and access to justice through litigation, advocacy, public

awareness, capacity building, coalition building, and support

for union organizing.

The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) organized in 1971 works with a network of health centers and primary care organizations to assist health centers in a variety of ways:
