Hansart Court The elderly residents of the Hansart Court sheltered housing accommodation in March, were totally dismayed to find that a Government appointed Planning Inspec- tor had overturned the unanimous decision by FDC’s Planning Committee to refuse the application for a so called Amusement Arcade in Station Road March in the premises known as Marcam House. March resident, Reg Kemp who took up the cudgels on behalf of the residents, in their originally successful fight to have the planning application refused, has written to the Inspector based in Bristol to point out that his deci- sion flies in the face of the democratic process of locally elected councillors having voted without dissent to refuse the application. Reg Kemp has also pointed out inaccuracies in the Inspector’s report such as referring to a large unsu- pervised car park at the back of the premises as a ‘Courtyard’ parking area and the fact that windows were allowed to be installed at the rear of the premises over- looking Hansart Court by the applicant without planning permission having been granted. The Hansart Court residents fear that the premises, which amount to no more than a gambling arcade, and which will be open all day until 10.00pm at night will result in noise disturbance and anti social behaviour and that the rear car park will be used as a gathering point for such behaviour until much laterthan the stated opening hours. Whittlesey Post Office Work is planned to start later this year on ‘The Old Post Office’, Market Square Whittlesey, a number of flats and offices are planned, the flats will be furnished and are subject to strict vetting process. Whittlesea Street Pride has been asked to clean up and weed the frontage. Obsolete By Richard Hull Freedom of Information?
